Hello all! Another scorcher of a day today - going for a swim later.

We can now meet people locally outside so really looking forward to seeing some friends in person next week. And I think I can start driving the very slightly longer distance to the beach for sea swimming if I fancy that.

So pretty happy today.

Hope all goes well for you on Monday @Princess.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 30/05/2020 16:55

Sooo... I can't buy menthol cigarettes anymore. I've been fine for the past week even after the ban but I assume the old stocks are being depleted. I am not a happy bunny, ffs if I want to kill myself slowly in a waft of mint I should be able to!

Yeah I know it's irrational and it's for the good and health of other ,particularly children bla bla bla. I'm still pissed off.

OP posts:
110APiccadilly · 30/05/2020 18:25

I hated mint as a child. If anything Menthol cigarettes would have put me off smoking!

Do children really take up smoking because it tastes minty? Or do they take it up for other reasons and then prefer it to taste minty? In which case if you ban menthol cigarettes, they'll just move on to other ones. I'd like them to clamp down on whoever is selling these things to kids to be honest, rather than banning types of cigarettes that might be popular with kids.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 30/05/2020 19:05

Apparently it's because children/people think minty are "healthier " / not as harmful , but that hasn't been proved. And I assume they also think the taste makes them nicer or something? I started smoking on Marlboro red superkings sooo...

I don't see anyone banning nice tasting/flavoured/fruity alcohol.

Hola!

My shop keeper has a range of products to get round the ban. Havent had a proper look, but might be worth asking in the shop.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 30/05/2020 19:50

My favourite ones are gone everywhere. I can still get slightly minty ones with a bit of a hassle , but not as nice.

I just think it's stupid and annoying. No sugar, no salt,no fats no this ,no that.

They obviously want the money from the smokers so it's all rather hypocritical.

Good morning!

Another 5am start because DDog thinks that it is my turn to takeover house guarding duties. He is now sound asleep on the sofa on his back with 4 feet in the air.

It's not really his fault. All three supermarket workers in my house have stumbled off to do their morning shifts starting before dawn so DDog gets woken up and thinks the day has started.

Princess I think the idea is to try and stop new starters entering the smoking market. As I understand it the new starters tend to be girls wanting to keep slim.

God, I remember the old red Marlboro days. My preferred brand was Raffles but would smoke Marlboro when I couldnt get hold of them. Never did get on with B&H or L&B but would cheerfully smoke them if drunk.

Happy carefree days!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/05/2020 08:56

penguins I have a vape, I just never made the full swap because it's just not the same .

Gnome I don't know how you manage the 5 am starts.

That is so fucked up about girls starting smoking to keep slim. Tbh I get why they want to discourage as many young people as possible to pick it up to begin with. Still makes me cranky.

I dabbled for years, but didn't start properly smoking until I was around 21.

GnomeDePlume · 31/05/2020 10:21

TBH the 5am starts aren't too bad. We must look like a house full of toddlers as we are all heading bedward by about 9pm!

Willow2017 · 31/05/2020 14:52

Ooh i hate early mornings but conyrarywise if i am on an early start i do get up way too early as i like to have time to get used to being up😄its daft but its one of my quirks.
I tried vaping but it made me cough like crazy. Must try it again i suppose. I didnt like the fact that iou couldnt just stick it in your bag as they just leaked out. And all the faff with all the bits on them, voltage setting arghh. Did my head in. Might try one with the fake cigs next😉

110APiccadilly · 31/05/2020 15:35

I had to get up early for some time and now it seems to have stuck - I'm awake by 6 (often earlier) whatever I do. I just roll with it and enjoy the peace and quiet (DH is not a natural early riser!)

I don't smoke but as a fat person I can certainly understand the appeal of something that will make you slimmer. (There's been tragic cases of girls dying after taking dangerous study pills bought online.) Have to just remind myself that the only way to get thinner which will actually make me healthier is to just eat less and exercise more! (Though obviously I'm not trying to lose weight at the moment - I know pregnancy is not the time for that.)

110APiccadilly · 31/05/2020 15:40

*dangerous diet pills

No idea what a dangerous study pill is... though come to think of it, I have known people who abused ADHD medication for studying purposes.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/05/2020 15:43

My issue with early mornings is that I can go to sleep early anymore. So I'd be up at 6:30 and then still awake at 1 am. Until that gets sorted I'm going to be a whinge bag. I found my spirit animal.Grin

110A I've only seriously lost weight three times in my life.

On some diet pills(never found them again) which coupled with working nights and sleeping most of the day meant I barely ate, and when I did I felt full straight away.

Being seriously low which again meant I stopped eating.

Being pregnant and puking everything out straight away. I was actually 15kgs lighter after birth than when I got pregnant. Dumbass me didn't realise that wasn't normal and since DD was growing nicely the midwife didn't care.

Me too Princess going to bed no matter what time or how tired equals my brain suddenly deciding yo go into overdrive and thats me for hours. Some days like today it decides to catch ip.and i sleep too late others i just get on with getting up at stupid o clock and dropping off about 7pm for a nap. Drives me nuts. I have tried otc dleeping meds but np use at all. Am on the hunt for night nurse but nowhere seems to have it.

Am sitting on front step trying to motivate myself to pull weeds. I have de-snailed my hostas and had a coffee and a rolly rrally should move!

Willow2017 · 31/05/2020 16:57

But i am definately a life long night owl. Its just got out of hand now.

No idea if that's more expensive than usual or not. The pills seemed to be around £4.

I've spent many a night tossing and turning while arguing with myself in my head . Had a bit of a shock when I realised I started doing it in English.Grin

Thanks Princess checked and the tablets would do. Only problem is that you can only order 1 box at a time which lasts 5 days and they add £3+ postage on!
If i cant find it in stock in local boots or chemists this week i will have to suck it up!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/05/2020 19:21

Boots and Lloyds pharmacy do it online as well , no idea if the supermarkets do as well.Since I don't drive I order a lot of stuff online.

Evening all, just checking in after a naff day dealing with exh. You'd think after being separated for so long and being in the throes of a new romance he wouldn't still be going out of his way to make me feel shit. You'd be wrong.

Ah well.

I may have attempted to lean on the guy I've been chatting with for the last few months, seeing as he's done a bit of offloading lately regarding work and family.. and he's told me he's not interested in my baggage. Just the post lockdown shag.

Blocked him because fuck that.

Fucking men. Please tell me there are still some decent ones left out there.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 31/05/2020 19:42

Hey Crow sorry things are sucky.
What did the twatbadger do now? Is DD2 ok?

What a wanker ! Especially since he offloaded on you first. Well done for blocking him, no one needs that kind of shit.

Willow2017 · 31/05/2020 19:53

Crow what a bag of shite he is. Who the hell does he think he is?

Tell ex to ftfottfsoftfosm too. Unless its very important re kids he can.shut the feck up.

GnomeDePlume · 31/05/2020 19:57

That is crap CrowCat on both counts. How dare they both?

Well done for blocking the new guy. He sounds like a total write off.

DH has found an Easter Egg - orange smartie flavour
