I have gone nuts and paid someone to come to my house and do an antibody test on us

Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

Mine took four days from posting to results.

CupCupGoose · 24/05/2020 09:54

Those of you who have had positive results back, do you mind me asking how ill you were? My DC had mild symptoms a week before lock down and I had slightly worse symptoms but I'm only 29 so could possibly just if had a mild reaction. I don't know if it's worth me getting a test for us having such mild symptoms.

Someone needs to start a new thread

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/05/2020 10:26

Yes can op start another thread, I’m expecting my results after bank holiday weekend probably and am interested in hearing other people’s results.

hollieberrie · 24/05/2020 10:45

@CupCupGoose I was really poorly. Genuinely felt frightened for my life. But the GP in the clinic where I had the test done said he had range of patients who had tested positive, including a guy whose only symptom had been loss of taste and smell.

Ernieshere · 24/05/2020 14:16

Still nothing?

BlueWave · 24/05/2020 15:10

I had a positive test but I knew I had it. I am v rarely ill.

Day 1 I had that shivery flu feeling and had to go to bed early. I don't have a thermometer but assume I had a temp
Day 2 : feel weak and have lost my sense of taste and smell. If you had asked me what was wrong, I would have said developing sinusitis
Day 3 terrible headache and a cough starts that I can't get rid of
Day 4 cough but also exhausted. For the first time in my life, Dp is having to wake me up to start working at 9am where I normally wake up naturally at 630am. That continues for 2 weeks
Day 5-14 cough that is worse at night
Day 14 onwards ok but still breathless and tired

Took 6 weeks for my sense of taste and smell to come back. Was breathless for that time too (not horrendously but noticeably)

I got it in March but I live on the outskirts of London and commute in. V long commute on sardine packed trains and tubes so it doesn't surprise me that I had it!

Char2015 · 24/05/2020 15:38

@BlueWave

You said on Day 2 you would of thought it was sinusitis. How are your sinuses now?

I have had no test. But in March I developed sinus pain and headache, few days later I had lost my voice. I don't recall having a sore throat at the time. I don't even recall have any raised temp. I think I lost sense of smell and taste slightly. I already had a cough since October so there was no change in my cough. About a week prior to sinus issues in March I had been in hospital (A&E attendance) with gastro problems. Since March I have had on and off problems with sinuses. I don't normally suffer with it.

I work for NHS so awaiting an opportunity to get an antibody test from them but was just interesting to hear you link it to sinusitis on Day 2 and just wondering if there was any ongoing problems in this area.

haget · 24/05/2020 16:23

I just got my result back and there apparently wasn't enough blood despite me filling the tube. So I'm a bit confused about that. They've offered a refund or to try again. I sent it back on Wednesday but the lab didn't get it until Friday evening apparently.

BlueWave · 24/05/2020 16:47

Hi @char2015 I have problem sinuses so if you had asked me at the time I would have been 99% sure it was sinusitis. Heavy, painful sinuses with that telltale headache. But then I developed the cough. I never had a blocked nose weirdly!

Sinuses now ok but I do have hay fever annoyingly!

BlueWave · 24/05/2020 16:48

Fingers crossed you get the antibody test soon x

I really hope they properly prioritise all the NHS workers

willloman · 24/05/2020 16:49

Thanks to St Clare and St Anthony for prayers answered!

Moogletea · 24/05/2020 19:31

I started with a sore throat for a few days then started temperature and headache. For about a week my temp was up and down and I had really bad S&D. I also lost taste and smell and that took weeks to come back. In fact I took to chewing gum for a few weeks as I had such a strange taste in my mouth permanently
I was really tired, breathless when doing stuff like walking up and down stairs but not gasping all the time. Spent about a week in bed then started to feel better.
I was pretty convinced I'd got it as I commute into London and my office confirmed a case a few days before I started to get the sore throat
Relieved the test proved positive.

CupCupGoose · 24/05/2020 20:16

Thanks for sharing your symptoms. I probably didn't have it, but I would be intrested to see.

Egghead68 · 24/05/2020 20:18

What a nuisance @Haget.
