Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

Thank you @Egghead68 I'm so pleased. Still feeling ill but this is a little boost.
Have you had yours yet?

kingkuta · 23/05/2020 13:49

It was on their website AgathaX, I think in the product info it said it was the Abbott test.

SebandAlice · 23/05/2020 14:12

@hollieberrie what test did you do?

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 14:12

Not yet @hollieberrie. I sent it off Thursday morning. I’ll post the result here when it comes.

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 14:15

Yours was very quick @Hollieberrie. Was it Blue Horizon?

reesewithoutaspoon · 23/05/2020 14:19

Has anyone used www.privatecoronavirustests.com. I ordered last week said it was shipped monday but have not recieved anything.
Now trustpilot reviews starting to come in and its not looking good at all.

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 14:19

@egghead68 @SebandAlice

It was the Abbott test but I did it at a private gp practice yesterday and they took blood from a vein. I'm too squeamish to have done a finger prick test myself at home.
It does seem very quick! They said 24-48hours..I guess from clinic it's quicker as courier pick up of bloods

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 14:25

Ah OK. Sounds like that’s a good way to do it. The sample I managed to get was basically a lot of clots!

Derbygerbil · 23/05/2020 14:29

@Billi77

The article doesn’t say or imply that the “vast number of cases produce no antibodies at all after recovering”.... or anything of the sort!

If your doctor did say that to you, and he’s also offering you a test he’s a charlatan, as tests would be virtually useless!

FatimaLovesBread · 23/05/2020 14:32

I did the abbott test this week, was really ill for most of March and then developed pleurisy and secondary chest infection. Took me a good 6 weeks to feel normal again.
Ordered from treat on Monday, delivered Tuesday. Took blood tuesday but just missed the post so it went Weds and I got the results Thursday evening.
Antibodies not detected. Not sure what to think.
I definitely want to do the roche one with veinous sample

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 14:32

@Egghead68 Ouch! You poor thing. I've done a finger one once before and had an absolute nightmare, blood everywhere, had to get a friend to help and I was almost fainting. Hence, never again! Well done for managing it, I hope you hear soon.

Billi77 · 23/05/2020 15:14

Sorry, the article was about varied immune response to COVID. I wasn’t directly quoting from it but it offers some insights.

Moogletea · 23/05/2020 17:41

I did the abbot test with privatecoronatests on Thursday. Results just came back with positive. Was ill in mid March - I commute to London and knew I was exposed to a confirmed case in my office. Took about a week and a half to get kit but results super fast

SirVixofVixHall · 23/05/2020 17:42

DH’s was through Medichecks, it was really speedy, I expected the results to take longer. I have used them before for thyroid levels testing, as my GP never tests the full range.

BanburyBun · 23/05/2020 17:45

@ 79abbot it was the abbot test from Forth

NettleTea · 23/05/2020 19:53

my mum was wiped out for about 5 weeks at end of Feb after coming back from Spain. Had all the symptoms and at one point believed it might be her end days. Did the Abbott test and has come back negative. She is going to push for an NHS one

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/05/2020 22:17

I sent off the blue horizon Abbott test on Wednesday before 12. According to the post office tracking it still hasn't been delivered. The return was supposed to be in 24 hours. I wonder if the blood will have gone mouldy or something by the time it gets there.

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 22:36

I sent my Blue Horizon test off Thursday first thing and haven’t heard. I forgot to note down the tracking number unfortunately.

Laniakea · 23/05/2020 22:40

I did the blue horizon yesterday & got the results back this evening.

Negative, which is no great surprise - both dh & I had negative swab tests (end of April). He had ‘covid toes’ & I had fever & generally unwell. I’m actually quite reassured because there shouldn’t have been anyway we were likely to have caught it given everything I’ve read about transmission!

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 22:48

I hope they haven’t lost mine and @GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit’s

haget · 24/05/2020 08:51

I sent mine back Wednesday but it wasn't tracked. I think it must be delayed or lost in the post as others have had results back very quickly and I still have nothing. Not sure it will be any good by the time it arrives now 🤦‍♀️ Can't face going through getting blood out for a third time. I can see why the government wants an easy do at home test now because the whole process has been a nightmare for me.

PonderTweek · 24/05/2020 09:07

I sent mine back on Thursday too and haven't heard back yet. They must be getting busy! Hopefully we'll all get our results soon.

Oaksideboard · 24/05/2020 09:19

I sent 4 tests off from Blue Horizon on Monday - all via 24hr tracked. Bizarrely 2 were collected at their end on different days, and 2 don't seem to have been collected from the online checker.
I received my result yesterday - negative, but I had very mild symptoms headache, loss of taste/smell, tight chest. DH needs to redo his sample as Blue Horizon said that the test didn't work as he squeezed his finger too tightly - but BH have said don't worry about how long it takes to get to them as the blood won't off in the tube. I'm hoping the other 2 results are sent through soon.

Egghead68 · 24/05/2020 09:30

BH have said don't worry about how long it takes to get to them as the blood won't off in the tube

That seems to be at odds with their instructions to post the sample off on the morning it is taken though.

All seems a bit random when results are coming back.

BighouseLittlemouse · 24/05/2020 09:42

I did the privatecoronatest - sent Friday and results back this morning! It was negative.

Am not massively surprised - illness was v mild and just before lockdown. Only reason I got tested is because DS had a v high temp, then the rest of us got sore throat, cough, weird mouth etc. DS best friend had the high temp the day before him and her mum was ill and then confirmed Covid case ( still not well now!).

Was over 40 days ago but suspect it most likely is correct. In some ways interesting as we had spent a lot of time with v close contact with the mum the days before she was ill.
