I have gone nuts and paid someone to come to my house and do an antibody test on us

Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

I'm waiting for a retest. I had a negative result despite being quite unwell for nearly 6 weeks.

Egghead68 · 22/05/2020 15:49

@bumhead this is the thread about antibody tests.

haget · 22/05/2020 15:58

Posted mine on Wednesday, no sign of any results yet. I'm guessing they probably won't send them out over the bank holiday weekend ☹️?

AgathaX · 22/05/2020 15:59

I've had a positive result from the Abbott test. Was ill mid march.

Egghead68 · 22/05/2020 17:25

That’s good @AgathaX.

UpperLowercaseSymbolNumber · 22/05/2020 18:51

Got the results of the Abbot test - negative.

Everyone in the house had covid symptoms to varying degrees - from really quite ill to a few hours of high temps and a cough. So either this was not covid (presumably statistically most likely), I did have it and Don’t have antibodies or I am the group not picked up.

hollieberrie · 22/05/2020 18:57

Did my test today. Waiting with baited breath...

babypossum · 22/05/2020 19:23

Mine and Dh's came back negative. Was extremely easy to take the blood too. Made sure we drank slots of water beforehand and soaked our hand in warm water for 10 mins whilst standing up (advice on the leaflet). Both of us used our middle finger and carried on standing to take the blood.

Billi77 · 22/05/2020 19:25

I spoke with a consultant with regards to my result. He confirmed it was a positive result meaning I had had covid in March but didn’t produce both sets of antibodies.
He also confirmed that a vast number of cases produce no antibodies at all after recovering, which suggests anyone who had symptoms probably did have Coronavirus. Here’s an article he emailed me

Pokemontrainer · 22/05/2020 19:30

Thanks you bIlli17

Eggy18 · 22/05/2020 20:15

Which test did you do @Billi77? The ones that I have seen only give IgG values. I am considering ordering one as I had some symptoms mid March

Billi77 · 22/05/2020 20:35

I had a biodek test which indicates IGM and IGG Responses. It’s the South Korean one. Was insanely expensive and involved going into the Corona Test centre in Hammersmith, London. I also had to pay extra for a phone consultation as my results seemed odd. I was very much informed and reassured by the Dr I spoke with though. Credit card bill this month will be interesting

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 22/05/2020 20:37

Sent mine off yesterday and I’m pretty confident I have had it but after reading these I won’t be so flummoxed if it’s negative. The press out there at the moment is very unclear how these antibodies are showing themselves in tests. I will try the Roche one when available. It is a real pity they didn’t get the tests out in time for people.

onlinelinda · 22/05/2020 22:48

It certainly is, especially when every other country seemed to manage it.

Pokemontrainer · 22/05/2020 22:53

onelinelinda it is so ridiculous and sad. For me I won't ever trust the govt again ... not that I probably did but the whole handling of this crisis has unnerved me.

I feel so bad for all the critical workers.

I have now reflected and I do still think I have had it.

79abbot · 22/05/2020 23:05

Dollface1: I did this one and it's £55

BanburyBun · 23/05/2020 07:59

I sent my sample off on Wednesday and got the results emailed yesterday - positive for antibodies. We were all ill at the end of March but weren’t tested at the time

79abbot · 23/05/2020 08:45

@BanburyBun: I hope you don't mind me asking which test you did. I did the Doctorcall one and it's taking ages for the results to come through. I am not sure I trust them. Yours seems to have been really fast!

AgathaX · 23/05/2020 09:24

I've just been looking on the Treated website but can't find confirmation on there that it's the Abbott test. Can anyone link to where it says that it is? I want to get one for a family member but just want to be sure it's the right one.

Bananasandorangesss · 23/05/2020 10:47

@AgathaX I don’t know where I read it but the treated one is Abbott

haget · 23/05/2020 11:05

Annoyingly I can't find it either now but I did read it somewhere on their website. I've noticed they changed a few bits though. It now says the lab takes 1-3 working days to turn around blood samples (did say a couple of hours previously!) and they've updated the information sheet to if you're struggling to get enough blood get a Dr or Nurse to help you.

Burpalot · 23/05/2020 11:45

Had my results. It says I do not have antibodies. I'm not sure how I could have avoided getting it to be honest. Live and work in London. Took nine flights in February and March through some of the world's biggest airports... Had minor symptoms end March... Ah well

Sodamncold · 23/05/2020 11:54

Sorry not read the thread
But what was the OP’s result?

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 12:20

Got my results.. Positive!

Egghead68 · 23/05/2020 12:25

That’s great @hollieberrie (if that’s not a weird thing to say)!
