Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

@BoxOfShapes definitely think don’t send until Monday as I sent mine on Saturday which just added to the delay. I think I will order one, send on a weekday where the lab will be open next day for processing, send special delivery. I saw that video - didn’t like the look of it, showed DH and suffice to say he will be NO help with taking blood lol. I will have to get on with it!

onlinelinda · 15/05/2020 14:13

That's interesting, @notgoingouttoday. I think if you feel sure in yourself, you probably have. I'm waiting for my results from that same company, so I'm hoping it's accurate. At some point I think I read that they use Abbott.
How long did they take to reply to you?

drcb83 · 15/05/2020 14:29

You will not have enough antibodies straight after so wait at least 3 weeks after symptoms before you take the antibody tests.

MustShowDH · 15/05/2020 14:30

I'm guessing if your husband is negative, you will be too. Would be hard to live with someone that has it and not get it.

tanqueray10 · 15/05/2020 14:35

@Bananasandorangessss When I sent my sample back it came with a pre paid postage bag. The lab must have received the sample pretty quickly as it arrived Tuesday, I returned it Wednesday and got result Thursday. I think that as the bags are marked as a Biological Sample they are expedited.

wintertravel1980 · 15/05/2020 14:41

Would be hard to live with someone that has it and not get it.

Interestingly, it is not necessarily true. Chinese studies have shown that the risk of transmission between members within the same household was less than 50%.

Three of my colleagues were tested positive for antibodies. In two cases out of three their spouses were negative.

LynetteScavo · 15/05/2020 14:48

A family member is ill with what the doctor has said must be Covid 19, although they haven't been tested. The person they live with has shown no symptoms (yet).

It's odd that it can be caught a so easily by some, but only by others.

onlinelinda · 15/05/2020 14:52

@drcb83 I counted 3 weeks after last symptoms and actually 8 weeks after I started to do the test.

Notgoingouttoday · 15/05/2020 14:52

@onelinelinda The results were back within a couple of days. The service was excellent, I was just disappointed with the result. If it wasn't Covid-19 then I have a lot more to worry about having suffered inflamation in lungs, heart, kidney and liver over the last couple of months since having a vague flu like virus (and had flu and pneumonia jabs last autumn).

The results came back with a letter saying that a negative result didn't rule out the possibiliity of CV - I could have had it but not developed antibodies. I think I read that a significant proportion of people in China don't appear to have antibodies afterwards.

onlinelinda · 15/05/2020 15:10

It really sounds like you had it. Did you just recently do the test? I did see cnn were saying the Abbott test was poor, but that seemed to be an instant version. I wasn't sure if Abbott have 2 antibody tests. And let's face it, it's only this week that they specify on their website which test it is, so it's possible we were sold had a different test? It was only called an Elisa test when I bought it.

It is interesting that the antibody tests are all confirmed this week. I did wonder whether they had been held back, but probably I'm
Being paranoid!

Notgoingouttoday · 15/05/2020 16:48

Mine was the Elisa test too, so not the instant version but I guess it wasn't the latest one either.

I think I had CV before half term in February. I was ill for a long time afterwards but now recovered.

Cassandrainthenight · 15/05/2020 22:56

I don't have the time to read the whole thread, sorry, but has anyone on here done one of those tests and was told yes, you have antibodies?? (OP, I know you are still waiting)

onlinelinda · 16/05/2020 00:36

@Notgoingouttoday I'll keep you updated!

SirVixofVixHall · 16/05/2020 00:42

Dh was about to do his today, but it says it has to be a Monday-Thursday, so he will do it on Monday.
Friend has done the test and come back negative. Some people may not make enough antibodies I imagine, so it doesn’t rule out Covid.

MyOtherProfile · 16/05/2020 06:59

Still no result? Poor OP Confused

dollface19 · 16/05/2020 09:26

Does anyone know if the antibody test tracks the antibodies from the day you test to 2-3 months prior ?

dollface19 · 16/05/2020 09:28

And which company is the most reliable to order from please ??

AvocadoPrime · 16/05/2020 09:52

I have just ordered the abbott test for £49. I've been ill with some kind of virus for 4 weeks. Was tested 2 weeks in for covid and negative. I think I was tested too late. Never been so floored by anything. It's been horrendous. Had bloods and they were all fine so it's all unexplained. It says it should be here tuesday and then results within 24hrs of them receiving my test.

Burpalot · 16/05/2020 11:34

My test is arriving today.

AldiAisleOfCrap · 16/05/2020 11:46

@AvocadoPrime could you post link where you purchased from please.

Pokemontrainer · 16/05/2020 12:09

I would also be interested where the 49 quid test was purchased form?

Pokemontrainer · 16/05/2020 13:19

Or does anyone know if you can arrange a covid 19 antibody test via your gp? When will this be available on the nhs for people who are not key workers ?

kingkuta · 16/05/2020 13:29

£49 test is from Treated.com

FourTeaFallOut · 16/05/2020 15:28

Where did you get your test from @Burpalot?
