B&Q

formerbabe · 03/05/2020 15:01

At the start of lockdown the roads were empty...the traffic is back to normal now round here.. I also have no idea where people are going!

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2020 15:01

McDonalds/Costa Drive thru
B&Q
The Range
Halfords
B&M
Food shopping
Driving a short distance to exercise for a long time

TheGreatWave · 03/05/2020 15:05

The tip.

I went out today to B&M, the local roads were a little busier, but still quieter than usual. However when I went over the main dual carriageway that was very quiet. So it seems people are doing local trips but not big ones.

Koddii · 03/05/2020 15:08

I deliver shopping to my mum in her garden. I have noticed local roads here are getting busier.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/05/2020 15:10

DH drove for 2hrs each way up the motorway for work last week. Essential services, but normal car.

Underhisi · 03/05/2020 15:14

We drive for exercise and have done from the start but I think there are more doing that now. Everyone we have come across has social distanced - which isn't true of those on local streets.
More people are back at work. More businesses have reopened and trying to keep going by doing deliveries.

Vanillamanilla1 · 03/05/2020 15:25

I've noticed over this past week people are coming out.from lockdown much more. Shops are busier. Roads are busy, there seems to be more people about and not just at weekends where I noticed there was a weekend trend
I stopped taking the dog over the park about a week ago or so ago as I noticed social distancing was being flouted.. I took him out this morning about 8.30am and even then there were quite a few people in the street.. on a sunday ! He hasnt been properly out for over a week and it's just cruel.
Rewind 5 or 6 weeks ago and this wasnt the case the streets were empty and so was the park
I drove today for the 2nd time since lockdown as I needed to.go to the big Tesco. I'd normally go to the smaller one but where there would be someone at the door making sure there was social distancing, 2 meters, one in one out there hasnt been for a few days.
It's like people are bored and sick of it now and want to venture out
Plus there are more shops open.. my local chicken shop and that's always packed , re opened this week so that's been very busy . At 12.05 yesterday there was a queue of about 15 people
I probably wont venture out now until the weekend after next when we will probably be very low on everything.
I'll take my dog on which I think will be quiet times round the streets but certainly i wont be out for shopping
My daughter in law works in a chip shop and she says she's never been this busy , she is working everyday now instead of just Friday and saturday nights

ekidmxcl · 03/05/2020 15:27

Everything isn’t closed. I went to the vet today to pick up medication, following a phone consultation.

Yesterday I went to the chemist to get my step fathers meds and I’ve taken him to hospital several times.

redwoodmazza · 03/05/2020 15:28

Our roads are really busy now. And most cars have couples in - so if they're going shopping, are they incapable of going alone??? Grrrrr

Bluewavescrashing · 03/05/2020 15:29

Very quiet near us. Village with nothing open in it except corner shops so too boring to drive to!

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/05/2020 15:29

Shops are open!

Namechanger20183110 · 03/05/2020 15:30

They are also going to people's houses. Friends and families

Underhisi · 03/05/2020 15:32

I think some older couples are going for a drive around because they are fed up of staring at 4 walls and see it as safe.

SuitedandBooted · 03/05/2020 15:39

Me in particular;

Sunday = shopping

Every other day = To work, along with the millions who can't work from home.

cookingmywaythroughlockdown · 03/05/2020 15:41

Older couples going for a drive in their own car IS safe.

TerrapinStation · 03/05/2020 15:44

Everything isn't closed in my area.

All the supermarkets are open, B & Q, chemists, post office (not today obvs) work places, hospitals, I could go on.

Lots of places to drive to although the roads around me aren't noticabley busier when I go out

WorraLiberty · 03/05/2020 15:58

To work amongst other places?

MilkRunningOutAgain · 03/05/2020 16:04

I drive my son to work, & pick him up. I go shopping, to the doctors, deliver medicines to several people locally, to the vets and the chemists. My DH is still commuting (car, train, tube) 2or 3 times a week. It is very quiet locally.

MinesaPinot · 03/05/2020 16:08

We haven't been further than our village since lockdown began and DH wanted to take our car out so we had a half hour drive along the quiet country lanes. Barely saw any cars and only a few cyclists. Drove past our local Aldi and Sainsbury's and there were no queues at either. It made us feel so much better.

HairyToity · 03/05/2020 16:12

We're self isolating but have been for two drives, just to get out, and have a change in scenery. If my husband wasn't self isolating I'd be more adventurous.

ekidmxcl · 03/05/2020 16:16

My mum is also going out to just drive today as her car battery could otherwise go flat.

MrsH497 · 03/05/2020 16:17

Maybe work? Not every job is Monday-Friday 9-5. Husband has to go into work can't wfh is a frontline emergency service worker (as am I but on mat leave)

My husband has dropped me at midwife and hospital appointments which is why we've been in the car together

Bananabixfloof · 03/05/2020 16:19

I've been out to buy dog food, it's been 6 weeks since I bought any, also shampoo same reason. I dont mind it not cut or coloured, but hell i wont have dirty hair.

pocketem · 03/05/2020 16:31

Elderly neighbours have been out several times today, and now having a mini party in the back garden with a few friends. They'd been observing lockdown till today. Think they've given up
