Do we think ANY foreign holidays will happen this summer?

Do we think 'that's it' for foreign holidays this year?

I do look at the situation and think, well there's no way resorts /hotels ect can open, or if they do, everything will be massively restricted

And then I think, but surely so many places will go bust, surely they will do everything they can to reopen as 'normally' as possible?

We have a TUI all inclusive booked for Crete mid August. Crete and Greece in general, comparitively unaffected by Corona.

Assume they will want to keep it that way, so even if the holiday happens, will social distancing make it feel very un-holiday like. Or is August a long time away?

If I leave it late to postpone til next year, well everyone will have had the same idea I think.

Stick, or twist?!

I do understand many countries won’t want us but the high death rate will hopefully be in the past. It needs to be judged by current levels of infection. If we get this under control to be lower than other countries then we may have some hope.

It’s a transient situation. For example, we could be through the worse and maybe another country where there’s been low cases (New Zealand?) could see a large outbreak. We don’t know how this will pan out.

But no I don’t think we’ll be going anywhere abroad this summer.

I think it’s the flying that’s the problem rather than the countries not allowing us in. There is a whole load of risk there. Until they can get on top of that then I can’t see it.

Can you imagine someone with the virus on a plane? They then infect god knows how many who then infect their family who are in 12 different resorts on Majorca. X that by 60 flights a week from the UK. I just can’t see it.

I think the only reason they haven’t said it is to give the travel industry a bit of breathing space.

I choose to stay positive and I suspect that holidays will be able to go ahead, providing the numbers keep going in the right direction.

I was due to fly to Asia in August and the flights were cancelled a couple of weeks ago by the airline so no holiday for me.

I still have things booked for the end of August. Germany, Denmark and Austria. I'd be flying in from Italy so probably still persona non grata even if travel restrictions are freed up.

@minmooch what a blast from bygone days your name is. I hope you are doing well. You won't remember me, but Flowers
