Are you still paying for dc dance, swimming, football classes

Dc do quite a lot of activities outside of school; dance, football, swimming. I'm still paying for these by direct debit every month. I have not heard anything from the owners, just classes are cancelled until further notice.
Are people still paying for these classes, mine are about £50 a month and after being furloughed it's money I could do with but then I feel tight cancelled.

I’m still paying for Scouts as, although they’ve given us the option not to, I know they’ll still be having to pay to secure the hall etc to keep their place for when they need it again, so I’ve carried on with that. Music lessons have stopped, but that was a cash payment anyway.

YouAreMySunshinee · 01/05/2020 09:13

I'm a bit pissed off with dd dance and direct debit still going out but no word from them Hmm

Gwynfluff · 01/05/2020 09:16

Paying a £1 retainer for one, half for another which we negotiated as they have some overheads but the full teaching is not being delivered. Nothing for scouts, nothing to the one that is more a subscription to a business.

Needtobepositive · 01/05/2020 09:18

Football is prepaid for the year so paying for that and doubt they’ll be any kind of refund. Swimming has been pre paid for the term but they said they’d hold that for when things next open so that is good. Ballet and brownies haven’t asked for this terms subs / payment so that’s good too. So really only football that we will lose out on. I think even if schools open this term, I don’t think clubs will start up again until September.

My husband runs a swim school. One parent has paid us as a goodwill gesture. This was massively appreciated!

Gwynfluff · 01/05/2020 09:19

Interesting to read all scouts comments. Ours have not mentioned or asked.

Travelban · 01/05/2020 09:20

Not paying for dance school. Paying for language and music but they are delivered via zoom.

10storeylovesong · 01/05/2020 09:26

We're paying for our Beavers, but they're still holding the meetings by Zoom and tbf providing a lot of content during the week for DS to get involved in. Still paying half fees for swimming to hold our place - providing online content but mainly based at gymnastics as they are a chain so DS not joining in. Still paying for National Trust and zoo membership, and half nursery fees, none of which can use. Equals couple of hundred each month.

BrieAndChilli · 01/05/2020 09:34

DDs drama classes are now online doing it via zoom so am paying in full for that.
Scouts and beavers are half of subs this term (I am treasurer and worked out what costs we would have that we still need to cover / insurance, membership fees etc but village halls aren’t charging us so have passed saving in to parents) leaders are doing either online zoom sessions or sending badge work.

REdReDRE · 01/05/2020 10:10

Not paying for swimming (thankfully as that is really expensive for both children) but we are paying a reduced fee for drama and paying full price for a pre school class - they are both running online classes in the meantime. Scouts haven't asked but would be happy to pay.

angelopal · 01/05/2020 10:14

Not paying for swimming or gymnastics. Both run by the council so have stopped charging.

Dance classes still paying for as they are running online.

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/05/2020 10:15

We are paying for everything but the Theatre club and band and they are all (dance, music lessons, scouts) are going ahead in some form using zoom.

Deliqueen · 01/05/2020 10:54

My girls both dance and are having zoom lessons(every day!). We are still paying with a 20% reduction which suits us and they are at least keeping some level of fitness so I'm more than happy to pay. Guides haven't asked for anything yet but I'm sure they will as they are having zoom meetings too. Happy to pay that too. As long as we can, we are happy that they are still engaged and want these things to continue after this.

tootiredtospeak · 01/05/2020 10:56

Still paying for Karate small club and online classes in place. Swimming lessons suspended so wont charge. Paid Gymnastics last month but they have now text to say frozen Direct Debit from April as have received government support. Neither of us have reduced income ourselves though.
