Nurses dancing on TikTok has made people take lockdown less seriously

Seeing so many nurses in their uniform & PPE doing choreographed dance routines at work in hospital is not good if the country wants us to stay home under lockdown.

We are told: "Stay home - Protect the NHS"

Oh ok ....stay home while nurses do whole choreographed dance routines while at work in the NHS...

Since those videos appeared on social media, I have noticed a lot more neighbours chatting by the garages, people moving furniture in and out of their flats, less distancing and a less serious attitude towards Covid-19 and the lockdown.

What the fuck were those nurses thinking?

Have fun, enjoy a dance by all means. DO NOT POST IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

Oh please do piss off OP. I'm a teacher and was at work today looking after the staff of frontline children. I was delighted to do so, and am doing as many days at school as I'm allowed to. I'm also working from home with a nearly 2 year old, which mostly involves working during her naps, then at weekends while my husband entertains her. I've never been more tired in my life. As for Tik tok videos, I honestly don't know a single teacher who has done one.

lizzie1970a · 24/04/2020 22:17

Today I thought people in my area seemed more relaxed about lockdown. I had to drop something off to someone (I left it outside their place, knocked the door and moved away). Their neighbour, a teacher, had three friends sitting in her garden with her. I know she lives alone as I know her. My own neighbour had someone turn up on a bike and they were sitting in his garden then I saw someone else arrive with his own garden seat to join them. There were loads more people out walking, cycling etc. There was some social distancing going on but more and more don't seem concerned about passing each other on even fairly narrow pavements. I'm not linking it to nurses dancing though. I think people are getting complacent for whatever reason. The lovely weather isn't helping.

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:18

@SquirtleSquad

Yes, I would find it funny if they did a dance, but I sincerely hope they don't.

@Flatwhite32

I'm the OP but I wasn't the person who said teachers were doing stupid attention seeking dances - I was just reacting to that info provided by someone else.

If the teachers aren't, then good!

@mrskypp

Sorry that was a joke. Just thought you'd take the bait. No idea if they're doing them.

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:24

@Floatyboat

Oh ok! I believed you Smile

Sounds like they aren't, so that's good.

... although it' be hilarious to see my sons' strict headmaster trying to dance Grin ... just NOT during the pandemic. Out of respect.

You should see the debates on twitter about this. For what its worth i agree op. By all means nurses should blow off steam and have fun but not dressed in PPE when theres outcry about shortages putting lives at risk. Ive seen one where the nurses blow up their gloves just taking the absolute piss out of the ppe crisis. Should not be encouraged.

Flatwhite32 · 24/04/2020 22:25

I just don't appreciate being labelled as an 'attention seeking idiot' when I'm still working and putting myself at risk for it. It's upsetting.

RainbowBalloon · 24/04/2020 22:26

Good grief. Have a day off OP!

Floatyboat · 24/04/2020 22:27

@Flatwhite32

To be fair to op she called tiktok videoing teachers "attention seeking idiots". So does that mean you are making tik til videos in work then...

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:28

@Flatwhite32

well, just stop posting videos on social media of yourself dancing then, and you wouldn't be an attention seeking idiot, would you. Cake

Arguing over tik tok videos - we are in a strange place to be sure.

Actionhasmagic · 24/04/2020 22:30

Why blame nurses? Why not blame the government?

stressbucket1 · 24/04/2020 22:31

Dont blame the nurses here, if people are not taking lockdown seriously and flouting the rules that's on them. Everyone is getting a bit fed up of not seeing their families and the whole situation. Its not because of a few tik tok videos.

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:31

Did the government post the dancing videos on TikTok?

OP posts:
HighNetGirth · 24/04/2020 22:32

Will the judging ever stop?

collateralmadanage · 24/04/2020 22:35

I think teachers have started doing them now too. They're working even less hard.

Aren't you a wonderful person? Grin

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:36

If you post on social media, then you must accept that people will form opinion based on what you portray.

If nurses don't want to be judged, then stop posting those disrespectful and inappropriate videos.

The nurses I have come across in my life have mostly been wonderful. I am not criticising nurses; I am criticising posting those dance videos showing nurses in PPE at hospital dancing choreographed routines while people are suffering horrifically.

OP posts:
collateralmadanage · 24/04/2020 22:36

Oh no, not teachers now too. Attention seeking idiots.

The kids have loved seeing their teachers and have done their own to send back.

Stop being foolish

LuluJakey1 · 24/04/2020 22:37

I think you are right but think it is only one factor in making people feel they can relax.
Nurses dancing-lots of them it seems- has given the impression they have time on their hands to organise, rehearse and record these videos and are not all battling on the frontline of Covid-19.

The stupid antics of some people in Clap for Carers is another factor - crowds on London Bridge with the Met Chief of Police there- not social distancing, people dressed in daft costumes playing instruments and singing. It has become about showing off for many rather than about Respect for the NHS/Carers.

Bandwaggon funding/ donating of mad things for the NHS - Easter Eggs, Fruit Baskets, Self-Care Baskets, Free Meals. It is potty and they are probably sick of chocolate eggs, free pizzas and scented candles.

The Police Guidance issued last week which contradicted the advice they and we had been given has put them in a difficult position and all the twats are back out sunbathing, days at the beach or the park, playing football, meeting friends, driving into the countryside for walks.

Madman Trump encouraging people to protest against governors decisions to continue the lockdown in America. The idiots there-paid by his right-wing backers- out shouting about Freedom and their rights to be free.

Sturgeon and her ongoing need to separate Scotland and make it different to the rest of the UK and to move ahead alone. She is a convincing front person, something neither we nor Wales have.

We have had no Prime Minister leading this for 4weeks. It has been chaotic. There is no leadership.

There is a feeling of resentment amongst many people now- about jobs, the future, the restrictions, lost holidays and a sense of rebellion.People feel it is almost over and they are making their own choices about what they want to do vs what they should do.

I am no supporter of this government but they have been up against it -and have made some poor decisions. They have lost the 'fear factor' they had about the virus at the beginning and have nothing in reserve because none of them are great communicators and they are not carrying everyone with them.

We are nowhere near past this yet. Our death figures every day are the highest in the world outside of the US. Our new infection rates are the similarly very high- apart from on occasional days where Russia declars more.
Why? We are a relatively small country and declare fewer serious/critical cases than many others yet hundreds more die here every day and thousands become infected every day compared to other developed and less developed countries. Why is that? And why are we seeing so many not taking this seriously any more?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/04/2020 22:38

Lighten up for god's sake!

We all know there's a pandemic going on. Does that mean no one is allowed to do anything fun? Would you prefer it if the nurses were working themselves to death, having no breaks all day?

Stop being so bloody miserable.

vera99 · 24/04/2020 22:38

Here's some of the 'best' to pass judgement on.

UnderTheIroningBoard · 24/04/2020 22:39

While the think the dance videos are a little bit cringe, I don't think that it will make people take lockdown less seriously.
I do think many people are becoming complacent or taking it less seriously now, but I don't think that's due to the dance videos.

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:39

Teachers dancing is a bit pathetic, but if it entertains the kids, then fine.

What I don't get is why they would post it on social media. Shouldn't they keep it for the private school network. If they do keep it private, then fine, don't you think?

It is completely different to dancing nurses in PPE at hospital when the NHS says there's a shortage of PPE, shortage of staff and we were in a PANDEMIC.

MrsKypp · 24/04/2020 22:41

@LuluJakey1

Well said, you have expressed it perfectly. Much better than I did.
