This clap gets louder and more elaborate every week!

From the first week (just clapping) we now have multiple fireworks, one neighbour has plans, another bells, there are horns, yelling and car horns being sounded. Ironically the neighbours with friends round for a BBQ are a particularly loud lot.
I am miserable in not really getting it?

We just had a dinosaur on a scooter here

Excellent Grin

Rebelwithallthecause · 30/04/2020 20:40

We had a fucking opera singer tonight

That along with the car horns, saucepans and fireworks despite it being daylight out side

EveryLifeHasASoundtrack · 30/04/2020 20:46

Cat back from his stroll as usual looking bemused. He manages to be out at 8pm every Thursday, I think he likes that everyone is clapping him

Love this. I’d clap for cats. 🤣

@EveryLifeHasASoundtrack I thought I’d been drugged😂 the kids loved it though

Clapping is fine.

Pots and pans are fine.

Bagpipes are fine.

Fireworks are not fine.

Full on DJ set up is not fine.

I never know when to stop clapping either. You never want to be the first to go back inside!

@EveryLifeHasASoundtrack he did it a few weeks ago and now he seems to time his evening stroll. Stands outside looking at everyone clapping then saunters back in

PrivateD00r · 30/04/2020 20:48

I do agree that fireworks are daft, thankfully nothing like that round here Smile

I bet they did. Just told my daughter and she said, ‘it’s not fair, why do we get the out of tune karaoke man singing Elvis and some people get a dinosaur on a scooter?’🤣 Hope he’s back next week for you and your kids.

🤣 What a legend. He’ll be most put out when the clapping eventually stops. You’ll have to keep doing it for him. 🤣

It's lost its novelty value for me, but it's a nice gesture of thanks for the NHS and key workers. I took part for the first couple of weeks, but kind od wish it would stop now, as some people are being annoying in the way they stretch it out. This evening there were some idiots making horn beeps well after most had stopped, at 10 past 8, and I got the impression they were being competitive, with each being determined to have the last beep!

I think it would be great if they organise special events after this is over, to entertain/feed/acknowledge NHS staff and care workers. Maybe the Queen could have some sort of garden party at the palace, and give out gifts or special awards to workers nominated by their peers/patients. Perhaps a new award could be created, for this purpose. Meanwhile we can all do our bit by following the guidelines to cut the infection rate.

Can't stand the pots and pans, fireworks or the horns. It's waking my daughter up every week.
