How can all the Tesco slots go in 1 minute?

I’ve waited up until midnight again to try to get a slot for delivery. I get put in a queue at 11.50pm and then I get to try and book a slot. Last night it was 12.06 and they had all gone. Tonight was 12.01 and they had all gone. I don’t understand how an entire day’s worth of slots can go so quickly Sad

I'd scrap the staying up until midnight plan. They used to all be released at midnight but they seem to have stopped that. Try 6pm (Tesco), 10pm (Tesco and Asda), and if you wake up throughout the night try them all. When I woke up at 6 this morning I could get slots with Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, and still can with Asda and Morrisons.

Two weeks ago, I stayed up to midnight to grab a Tesco slot - the app got me thru faster than the website.

I've since decided that my sleep is more valuable Grin and leaving the house for shopping is one of the few pleasures left to me. Somebody more needy can have those slots that I would have booked.

I managed to get a Tesco's slot for my parents at just after 8am on a Sunday morning. Seems like there's no logic to it.....

I got one just after Midnight last night for Sunday 10th. We are on the vulnerable list but getting worried about the lack of priority slots available, even when it refreshed yesterday there were none under the priority slots but they where there using my delivery pass.

Yes I agree no logic in this area.

I've noticed if I have a slot, I can never see available slots. Two days after my slot has been delivered, I can suddenly see three days worth of slots for about ten days away. As soon as I take one, the rest vanish. My sister in law tried logging on at the time I could see three days worth and could see nothing. She lives next door so same area.

It's all very strange.

I find that no matter what time you get on the app it always throws you into a queue at 11:50 and then when you get back in you have to sign back in . It's pot luck what time you get back in. I had to do this 4 nights in a row last week before I found some slots at about 12.05.

I tried every night for weeks with no success.

Then I read on here that they sometimes put next day cancelled slots on in the afternoon.

Had a quick look around 3.30pm Saturday and had a delivery yesterday evening.

I managed to get an Asda shop for a week Sunday too, at 10pm. Had to refresh the page loads then suddenly lots of slots appeared!

Fifth night of staying up and finally got a slot at 12.02. Also then signed into daughters account and got her one. She's in a different area. So worth the wait

Weirdly there is a whole day of delivery slots open here but no Click & collect - no idea what that’s about!
(Tesco)

I've just booked a delivery. They all became available at 12.03am. My hands were shaking so much when I saw all the times there I thought I was going to click on the wrong option.

I actually wanted a click and collect as I am able to drive to the shop but they didn't become available at all as far as I can see.

I managed a Tesco slot tonight, the priority one. Got on at 12:03. No 1 hour slots available

So frustrated. I got on about 12.05 and there were lots of slots available. Clicked on 10-11 but it wouldn't show as booked. Now the whole day is listed as unavailable (but with all the times there like it shows when there is going to be a slot free) and I can't check out. No idea what has happened or if I can do anything Confused

Thanks so much for your advice last night. I went on the website on my laptop from 11.30 and kept refreshing and got a slot for my mum at 12.01. It took 5 nights of trying but the app is definitely much slower.

I cannot get one despite being shielded and on their priority list. Three weeks now with no delivery - nobody to get shopping. Can get a veg box delivered if they have a slot ( none yet) and a local butcher is delivering meat and eggs ( nothing else) but cannot last much longer.

CalleighDoodle · 21/04/2020 00:41

My parents are shielding and my dad is on the priority list more than once. He cannot get a slot. Thankfully they get a food parcel weekly from the council delivered. But thats not really enough to last. And can be a bit random.

@RhubardFizz phone your local council. Or mosque.

Just hoping can get one this week. Did not register for Gov parcel as can buy food. Thankful for milk deliveries and can get the meat and eggs. And thankful for a previously well stocked freezer! Think it is the area we are in, just busy!

Will try logging in earlier tomorrow and see if that helps - seems a good tip.

Hope you Dad can get a slot too Call

RhubardFizz Have you tried the Morrison’s pre-packed boxes?

Report
tillytown · 21/04/2020 00:59

Hi OP,
for the last week they have been releasing a load of slots at 2pm, try then tomorrow?

Report
planningaheadtoday · 21/04/2020 01:12

@RhubarbFizz Morrison's are doing a limited selection (41 items I think) that you can phone in for, pay over the phone and it's hand delivered the next day.

It's more for the vulnerable who don't have internet access or the know how.

Same here. I look after my elderly parents' for shopping and medication etc and have to go into their houses as they can't manage putting it away and doing pills, etc, plus they need housework etc doing. So I really don't want to go to ANY shops at all, and although I've paid for the year for deliveries, and am a regular customer, I haven't managed to get a slot for weeks :-(

Does anyone know how Tesco Click & Collect works when you go to collect it? We did Asda for the first time & that was very efficient - we pulled up to a special area, punched a button to say who we were & the order was quickly brought out to the car. Is Tesco the same? Are all stores in a chain the same, or does it vary by location? (There are 5 Tesco stores I could use.)

In case this helps others, sorry if this has already been suggested but if you are really stuck and vulnerable or shopping for someone who is please try phoning the local supermarket(s) directly if you can. I work in a supermarket and I know that our customer service desk is trying it's best to organise shopping deliveries for people who can't book online and urgently need shopping.
It might tide you over until you are able to book a slot.
Good luck & stay safe. Flowers
