A friend forwarded me this video -

www.facebook.com/barnsleychronicleonline/videos/158413535522368/

Far too many people all congregated together, some hugging and kissing. NHS staff outside in their uniforms and someone in their wisdom invited the local council and the local council housing team up to be clapped too!!!

Just WTAF!

Same at Blackburn hospital, even the local district nurse teams showed up! Absolutely no social distancing, what on earth.

I thought it was meant to be the clap “for” carers, not the clap “of” carers.... televised and photographed by the wide-eyed media.

It’s madness. There are some weirdos on my local area Facebook page policing it every Thursday, saying such-and-such couple of streets didn’t have a good showing tonight. I’m just after reading a post on another thread by someone who works for the NHS saying they don’t need clapping, they need PPE and the capacity to practice social distancing at work.

From the very start it’s felt to me like there’s a sense of let’s all clap and be positive when we should all be fucking angry.

It’s starting to feel like the period after Princess Diana died. Folk losing their minds.

ToffeeYoghurt · 17/04/2020 23:44

I thought the gatherings to clap were stupid. Then I read 15,000 people a day are arriving at our airports with no checks or any kind of quarantine (unlike many other countries). And then travelling across the UK to their home destinations. So much for social distancing and lockdown stopping the spread.

It takes 7 days for symptoms of Covid-19 to appear so let's all come out en mass every 7 days. I don't get it.

I clap inside now because none of my neighbours know what 2m is and I'm fed up of being filmed and splashed all over sm.

YourWinter · 18/04/2020 01:36

All the clapping is completely bonkers.

HeIenaDove · 18/04/2020 02:48

In 7 to 14 days its possible they could be meeting some of the NHS workers they were clapping for.

terrigrey · 18/04/2020 11:31

Basically to ability to showboat on social media is way too important to certain twats people, they just can't see the irony in making more work for the NHS by ignoring social distancing during the clap or letting off fireworks/lanterns.

Most NHS staff I know would like PPE and a pay-rise after years of no pay-rises under the Tory gov not patronising claps from prat's.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 18/04/2020 14:28

Those hospital-visiting clap-twats have done so much damage to lockdown. They've defied it, dressed up in a pointless purpose, and now there's nothing really that can be said to people who choose not to stay at home. The participating NHS/police staff have as much to answer for if not more.

ToffeeYoghurt · 18/04/2020 14:29

I don't believe any other country is doing anything as stupid? Some are clapping or singing from home but gathering outside hospitals? We really are becoming the (bad) joke country when it comes to Covid.
