The brewing scandal that could bring the government down

The British public are being lied to by the Boris Johnson government over its handling of COVID-19, the scale of related fatalities and subsequent fallout. As the death rate escalates and Britain rapidly rises in the chart of deaths-per-million, currently 7th in the world and fifth in numbers, the government is now looking to deny, cover-up or spin its trail of failure.

“the government is now looking to deny, cover-up or spin its trail of failure” isn’t that just business as usual?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 14/04/2020 16:52

Yup, yet another conspiracy theory, whether theres a base to it, or not, will 100% bring the government down. No doubt.

There's more armchair experts, with never spoken about before, high up, sources in the forces and parliment, out there about covid 19 than there experts in diagnosing personality disorders from 1 sentence on MN Confused

Hirsutefirs · 14/04/2020 16:53

What’s that got to do with brewing?

vera99 · 14/04/2020 16:56

The article is long on known facts not conjecture. Which is echoed in many of the threads here. The Royal College of Surgeons isn't known for swivel-eye loon Eamonn holmes theories after all.

^ The British Medical Association is outraged by the government and went public last Friday:

“We are hearing reports of a shocking lack of PPE supplies across trusts in England today. The Government must address dwindling PPE supplies immediately – PPE should not be being rationed due to a lack of supply. The workforce simply cannot continue facing the prospect of either being put directly in harm’s way or facing the anxiety of not knowing whether they will be adequately protected or not.”

The Royal College of Surgeons of England backs this outrage up after collating the views of 1,978 surgeons and surgical trainees. “The widespread lack of PPE for frontline staff is a disgrace ^

@Hirsutefirs I try to keep to a 6 pm yard arm gin deadline.... Wink

PPE should not be rationed due to lack of supply. How do you propose they deal with lack of supply?

The lack of PPE is a world wide problem, it wouldn't have been any different under any other government.

Barbie222 · 14/04/2020 16:59

I saw this piece in the Guardian about the lack of PPE https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/13/uk-missed-three-chances-to-join-eu-scheme-to-bulk-buy-ppe?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

BigFatLiar · 14/04/2020 17:01

Damn, thought this was about beer.

Pickpick101 · 14/04/2020 17:01

It won't bring down the government . Yes they have made mistakes like most other governments trying to deal with this.

Ibizama · 14/04/2020 17:02

Thought this was about the beer that's being poured away as its going off sitting in pubs....next

vera99 · 14/04/2020 17:04

Just got the double meaning there! Yes, that's a scandal as well it should be given away ...

vera99:

@Hirsutefirs I try to keep to a 6 pm yard arm gin deadline...”

Hope you manage it some day.

Lumene · 14/04/2020 17:04

The govt are trying to project manage a worldwide health crisis and have made inevitable mistakes.

They should be held to account for these and will be as we are a democracy.

Not sure how you think this will ‘bring the government down’ though given Boris approval rates are currently high and Labour low.

Building an effective opposition that helps tackle the crisis is the most likely way to ‘bring this government down’ really.

vera99 · 14/04/2020 17:05

@Hirsutefirs - got a true LOL there !

Baaaahhhhh · 14/04/2020 17:12

Vera has been on so many threads bashing the government. I wish she/he would stop. Getting boring now.

Randomschoolworker19 · 14/04/2020 17:15

I don't think it is a 'conspiracy theory' at all.

It's not hard to see that the government has been totally incompetent.

  1. No checks at airports or ports. People just allowed to move freely with no quarantine.

  2. Not enough testing. 111 being a joke.

  3. Lack of PPE.

  4. Too slow to react and lock down. I mean football matches and festivals were still going ahead....

  5. Not enough ventilators.

The list goes on and on.

AvalancheKit · 14/04/2020 17:22

Fucking hell Vera99 - you are just fucking weird, stop stockpiling those mushrooms.

Seriouslyastounded · 14/04/2020 17:25

People who believe this shit need Urgent help.

underneaththeash · 14/04/2020 17:26

Can't you just get rid of this annoying poster mumsnet HO.

rosie1959 · 14/04/2020 17:28

So easy to sit in your air chair and judge Assuming some other party could had done everything perfectly and made no mistakes
Opposition parties were initially perfectly happy with the way the Government was dealing with the crisis

Standrewsschool · 14/04/2020 17:29

“ Damn, thought this was about beer.”

Me too!

BeetrootRocks · 14/04/2020 17:30

Oh I thought this was going to be about all the beer going to waste.

I'm still hopeful that they will dole it out amongst everyone to avoid all the waste.

everythingisginandroses · 14/04/2020 17:31
Aesopfable · 14/04/2020 17:31

What’s that got to do with brewing?

I assumed it was about all the beer that will have to be thrown away. Rather than the numbers so carefully hidden that they are cunningly published everyday just so we don’t spot them.
