Fecking bbq at 10am!!

Wtf. Mummy, mummy I can smell burning! Mummy hunts up inhaler as already recovering from possible COVID-19 and has had a bad chest for 5 weeks now and this explains the renewed tightness. Who the fuck has a bbq at 10am on Easter Sunday?

My neighbours had one at 10pm last night! Honestly some people are ridiculous

At teatime I wouldn't mind so much but I had washing out.
He's truly burnt his sausages though 😂

I’ve lit ours at 6am before now to do beef short ribs or started it at 10pm for a long brisket cook. My neighbours have said they can’t tell when our bbq or smoker is going though. Letting reams of smoke pour off and any time is stupid and inconsiderate.

Time has no meaning in the lockdown.

That might explain all the noise they are making of an evening.

It seems to have gone mad round here today! Two families are outside setting up BBQs. Some kids have found the delight of kicking footballs against the wall endlessly. The birds seem to be engaging in apocalyptic warfare from the endless noise.

And somewhere nearby, a child seems to have chosen today to learn what sounds like a trumpet outdoors, with the same chords of Beethoven on repeat for hours.

I'm going to put some headphones on and eat a lot of chocolate.

Our ovens broken so we're having a lot of bbqs. YABU. It's lockdown there's very few things we can do. Shut the windows and get on with your day.

I think its really nice that families are out in the garden more. Plus, its perfect BBQ weather. The idea of a breakfast BBQ might be some kind of genius .

I think a lot of people need to lighten up a bit and allow people to get enjoyment however they can at the moment. You might feel like having a whinge but for most people a BBQ next door really isn't going to affect your breathing and if for some reason (that your neighbours can't possibly guess) you are especially vulnerable just shut your windows.

Anyone remember Be More Kind? Stop trying to find a reason to be cross with everyone else and look for ways to find something positive in these strange times.

The only reason I didn’t have a bbq this morning is because I forgot to get the meat out of the freezer. We’re having one for lunch instead. I know my neighbours don’t mind tho

Here too! The gulls and black birds seem to be engaged in some kind of battle of the bulge reenactment. I think the gulls are stealing eggs...

OP - that’d piss me off too but other posters are right, whilst it’s not very considerate it’s not really anti-social.

Can you get in the bath for a soak? It might be soothing to have a bit of steam and it’ll block out the smoky smell a bit.

That wouldnt bother me, sounds nice. I dont have a bbq we got rid of ours last year.
Id say bbq is the new take away in lockdown.

We are vegetarian. I can't imagine much worse than barbecued lamb.

For those saying to close the windows-I did, but the smoke was already in. We didn't know where the smoke was coming from to start with until we looked out the back. I hope they enjoyed their burnt bangers.

My neighbours are burning rubbish every day. My asthmatic little boy came in gasping.

There is a virus going around that affects the lungs, so I wish selfish idiots would think about this irresponsible behaviour.

I may be a miserable sod, but I wish it would bloody rain. I’m sick of selfish fuckers.

A little courtesy whilst we are all stuck at home in these times wouldn’t go amiss.

I don't mind BBQs unless they produce loads of smoke- I'm pretty sure if it's smoking loads you're doing it wrong!

One of our neighbours has just lit some sort of bonfire. I think it's the type that burns in a big metal bin. Smells awful and you can see the smoke in the air. Inconsiderate at the best of times, dangerous at the moment considering they don't know if someone nearby is already struggling to breathe due to the virus!

Bbqs i can understand, what i don't understand is bloody bonfires all day everyday near me and it stinks to high heaven. Don't know what they are burning or why but i wish it would stop. I'd take the smell and fumes of a bbq anyday over the stench in my area

My neighbour has as been having charcoal bbqs every day sometimes twice a day right by my fence. I can’t hang my washing out and do t own a tumble dryer, the smoke polluted my house and garden when I left my windows and door open. We have small gardens and they don’t see the issue at all
And they refuse to use a gas bbq. I think this is just as bad as lighting a bonfire for me. He is useless at lighting the thing and chuck

It's due to rain later and there's been a thunderstorm warning. I love storms and it will keep the idiots indoors. The neighbours opposite were out having a fire last night at 1.30am and making lots of noise. It's such a joy nice weather

Are you quoting a conversation you could hear outside or are you talking about yourself in the third person?

Said it before and will say it again, the majority of the British have not mastered the art of barbecuing. Burnt outside, raw in the inside, or fatty and tasteless. Smoke that smells rank, flies, rock hard corn on the cob, pink chicken . Just bung it in the bloody oven and let us put our washing out to dry!!!

Maybe they are cooking their breakfast in it. Who cares?
