Second home owner

Gorgeous weather here in Devon and yesterday morning the second home owners across the road turned up.
I've reported them to the police via email 101 but I'm still so angry that they have put our small hamlet of mainly over 60's at risk just because they fancied a change of scenery- they should be ashamed of themselves!
Please talk me down from going over there this morning😡😡

we all know a student living in halls is different to a second home owner. They were advised to travel home early on in all of this when the Halls were closed. Please.

Agree, people shouldn't be travelling now. Before lockdown, I suspect the majority travelling out of cities were locals returning.

Flights bringing people home from abroad are still operating. They don't all live in London and I bet they're heading to their homes rather than staying in hotels, which are mostly closed anyway.

Travel time to hospital is around one or two hours (depending on traffic, etc) for lots of people living in greater London. I assume you live centrally.

You really are clutching at straws now. Students have, for the most part, been asked to leave student accommadation, as they would be at the end of the academic year.

Exactly. Whoever heard a student describe their family home as their ‘second home’?

A ridiculous ‘but but but’

alloutoffucks · 13/04/2020 19:10

It is someone who has fled to their family home during lock down, trying to justify it with....but students.
If you have done this, you are part of the problem.

CruCru · 13/04/2020 20:08

I should think most second home owners will have turned up well before the lockdown (which they were allowed to do). No one should be travelling between houses now.

PrivacyOne · 14/04/2020 07:13

TBH, if they had all travelled down before lockdown this thread wouldn’t exist. Hmm

CruCru · 14/04/2020 11:17

The OP has written about people arriving after lockdown but quite a lot of the thread appears to be about second home owners in general, regardless of when they arrived.

@alloutoffucks

My point was that students are hot beds if the disease (I work at a university and 1/3 of an entire year group went down with covid) then they all travelled back to their 'home' towns, effectively spreading the disease prolifically.
