Ocado slots

For those with the smart pass have you now been managing to get slots?

Just went on their website and wait was just one minute, then I had lots of options for slots.

They seem to have got their act together pretty quickly. Prices seem to be higher though but I think that's the lack of special offers.

Checked Sainsbury's and cant even log in so the same situation there

When I click on the calendar the 3 days have a green box round and the rest of April is greyed out. Of course I know how to use the calendar! 3 days are potentially bookable but no availability.

That's exactly what I get NaturalBornWoman.

I'm wondering if when I get to 7 days past my last delivery I will have available slots in the 3 days that I can see. The 3 days I can see are too close to my last slot. I live in hope.

NotGenerationAlpha · 07/04/2020 14:15

@knittingaddict if the ocado gods are smiling on you, then you'll see non greyed out days far in the future.

Only their devs know what the algorithm they used to determine what group you are put into!

Hairydogmummy · 07/04/2020 15:28

Anyone getting 'access denied' when you try to get on? They sent me a free smart pass last week...bit pointless if I can't get a slot...

knittingaddict · 07/04/2020 15:30

I think they are prioritising people with smart passes before 2020. I don't know if this means that you can't access the site at all. Perhaps some else will be able to tell you. It's hard isn't it.

artisanparsnips · 07/04/2020 15:38

I'm in the south west and am getting the greyed out box like they don't care about me at all. None of it makes any sense and I am sort of done caring about it.

I'm more peeved, though, for my 81 year old step mother, who has been a smart pass holder for ten years and can't get a delivery despite self-isolating and a million emails and tweets from me.

Waitrose, meanwhile, have managed to find space for both of us to place orders.

ThreeIsACrowd · 07/04/2020 15:53

Hi, I haven't read the whole thread so someone might have mentioned already. When I get onto the Ocado website o my three days appear but when I click on calendar icon then I can see slots available later during the month. We have been using them for about twice a week for more than 10 years.

NaturalBornWoman · 07/04/2020 16:42

Hilarious, I’m now getting access denied!

augustusglupe · 07/04/2020 16:53

Access denied here too

Danceswithwarthogs · 07/04/2020 16:58

I wish I could give donate my slots to someone who really needs them

(I’m Lidling at the moment since all this happened - though did just have some of those nectarines that look amazing but are brown insideHmm.)

HealingCalmingSoothing · 07/04/2020 19:52

Can I just ask a theoretical question?

Do people think that those who are in the vulnerable group (but have never used Ocado before) get slots prioritised before those who have used Ocado religiously week in, week out for years?

Assume the latter groups vulnerability is unknown.

Sorry, that is hard to read, it should have said 'should get slots'.

I have one for Monday next week.
I can't see any more slots available before or after now.

My email said I'd be eligible to get a slot every 10 days.

Have an anytime delivery pass and have had for many years - pretty much since they started delivering in our area.

Aragog · 07/04/2020 19:57

And yes my trolley is way more expensive for not much more food. It's at least £50 extra if not misrepresent than normal.

Aragog · 07/04/2020 19:57

And like others I normally spend over £100 on an Ocado shop almost every week.

peoplepleaser1 · 07/04/2020 20:01

Come on people. Stop clutching pearls and hoping that because you've been a loyal Ocado customer for ages you will get a slot over and a live anyone else. It's like a competition as to who has been the most loyal.

Clearly Ocado is struggling and people are taking it all very personally.

I've secured 14 shopping slots today on behalf of other people. All are isolating due to age or health, but none are on the shielded list. I just had to persevere. I got 7 slots between midnight and 2 am, and the rest between 6am and 4pm. I've set up accounts on their behalf, shopping is being delivered to them, I've paid in my credit card and they will transfer money to me. It's worked well so far.

peoplepleaser1 · 07/04/2020 20:02

'Above' not 'a live'.

Vargas · 07/04/2020 20:15

I've used Ocado once a week for many years, have a Smartpass and am able to get slots easily, but 1 week+ away and only 1 per week. Feeding a family of 5 + topping up for older relative, so it's very useful!

BackInTime · 07/04/2020 20:30

I agree, I feel like I am being held to ransom but no choice as I do not want to go to Tesco's

AlmostThereKeepMoving · 07/04/2020 21:02

@peoplepleaser1 I absolutely can’t see how you managed to secure 14 slots.

peoplepleaser1 · 07/04/2020 21:15

Argh, sorry the 14 slots were not with Ocado. They were a mixture of Morrison's, Asda and tesco. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

AlmostThereKeepMoving · 07/04/2020 21:32

Oh no, I did think you meant for various places but seeing how they are released at a certain time of the day and are snapped up in a minute or two I just don’t know how you managed to get approx 5 slots at each shop!

peoplepleaser1 · 07/04/2020 22:48

There's a variety of slots released at different times I think. There's a flurry around midnight and the early hours, some are random times but also release of a the next day along into the future for some shops.

Tesco seems to randomly release the odd slot here and there.

Every now and again Morrisons release a number of slots.

Got really lucky with Asda also- lots of slots suddenly released all at once at about 10.30am this morning for weds, thurs fri this week.

Believe me, I spent hours doing this. None of the slots are for me- all for isolated people who find online shopping too challenging to manage themselves.

My point is that so many people are too busy stamping their feet because in their opinion Ocado owes them a delivery slot. This time would be better spent looking elsewhere.

I've no doubt Ocado are doing their best. It's an impossible task. Give them a break!

Hairydogmummy · 08/04/2020 14:56

I feel like I'm spending a fortune. I'm not sure if it's the prices or the fact that I'm ordering more. Normally I'd be nipping for a couple of extra bits most days and we'd be eating some meals out especially lunch but now we're all here for all food and now I'm trying to make sure I don't need to nip for extras and also I'm getting more like 10 days worth in at a time. Asda are on their way to me now with 16 items completely missing and not substituted like juice and eggs?! I'll have to go out for those anyway. I've not been able to make any bookings for any more now.

knittingaddict · 08/04/2020 20:17

peoplepleaser1

I'm not being precious or elitist. Many of the other supermarkets you have mentioned aren't taking new customers, for obvious reasons. I signed up to Asda and can't get a slot there either. Were you already signed up to Morrisons, Tesco and Asda before this all started?

I've been getting up at midnight or the early hours of the morning, quite frankly obsessing about getting any kind of food delivery. It's taking my already disturbed sleep patterns to another level. I've had it today.

NaturalBornWoman · 08/04/2020 20:46

OMG I just thought I’d have a quick look on Ocado and managed to grab a slot for Friday. It was horribly glitchy though and due to out of stock items my order went from £240 to £89 and I guess this will be typical when slots are released so last minute.
