I actually checked and today is day 19 for me and I have got malaise.
I really am absent of energy. I’ve needed the toilet for a hour but can’t be doing with standing up to walk there.
Slight headache, no fever, lungs a bit sore. Glad @TheDrsWife46 is having a good day

Meltedwellie · 06/04/2020 13:33

@longshot I felt well I was getting better after a week but then after a couple,of days but I noticed that even though I felt ok it was only if I was resting otherwise I got out of breath. Then I was out of breath just resting. Now I’ve got sinusitis as well as the secondary infection, don’t know if it’s related, probably. I feel ok in myself just now but then I’m only sitting on the couch. Still feel quite tired.

Has anyone felt unwell then perked you quite quickly, thinking they had been lucky then suddenly got very poorly? I started with a cough 7-8 days ago and a weird feeling in my upper back, then a severe sore throat 6 days ago; feeling like glass in throat m, crying with the pain. Then Saturday (day 6) I woke up with the worst headache ever. This lasted till last night. Then I got up this morning with minimal sore throat, only irregularly coughing and headache gone. However today my chest has felt weird again, I keep taking big breaths and keep bringing up yellow phlegm and now my nose is bunged up with what looks like pus ( sorry TMI) no official fever at any point ( although 37.2 when my usual is 36)

@Taffyapple8 in my “normal” life I dont have anxiety or depression. I have had valium for a fear of flying and thats it. The amount of people telling me I need to calm down and “be fine”...my own mum told my DH that its all in my head because “she had diarrhoea and thats not even a thing!!” She insisted that he needed to “take her to get some proper help shes got mental issues”

He reminded her that if if that WAS the case, there is no “taking” anyone ANYWHERE right now. I deffo have anxiety and health anxiety from it all now thats for sure!!!

@meltedwellie I am the same so it sounds. I am ok doing not very much at all physically...if I walk around more than just in my house i have a lot of pain in my ribs, tight chest etc. My brain is now back to normal I think although I did struggle to play scrabble the other night so perhaps it isn't! Breathing for me tends to be OK which is good at least. I am wondering If I have something else going on now as have been ill so long or maybe my body just takes AGES to recover!

@Howmanysleepsnow
Just wanted to let you know that I have tried to PM you back but annoyingly my message won’t send. I even tried if shortening it would work but it won’t even let me send one word. I will try again shortly.

pinkoneblueone · 06/04/2020 13:56

I had two days of sinus trouble it was gone yesterday and today we are back to chest pain and feeling breathless. I am not sure if I have my days muddled or not but should be 28 days

pinkoneblueone · 06/04/2020 14:08

Can someone tell me where to find the video for clearing out chests please ours all feel sore like someone has been using a grater on the inside

stayathomegardener · 06/04/2020 14:10

@TheDrsWife46 I poured my heart out only to two friends of 21 years on a group chat. If of the husbands read the messages and sent a picture of his laughing face and the words "Covid my arse"
I was so upset and can totally relate.

Thank you!

@stayathomegardener they are idiots and will the the ones who don’t take this all seriously

amwell.com/cm/blog/secondary-infections/
I thought this was quite interesting. Although it refers to secondary infections after flu, I’d imagine the same principles apply.

alittleprivacy · 06/04/2020 14:40

Not better. I cleaned the kitchen after letting stuff build up for two days and I am not 'right' anymore. I'd planned on making a proper dinner but thought twice and shoved chicken breasts and wedges in the oven instead. I can already feel that pushing myself too much would set me back more. Stupid mystery infection. :(

AnythingPecan · 06/04/2020 14:51

I wonder what the average length of illness is for this disease? Surely can't be 7 days? The advice that is being dished out currently is to call for medical advice if you don't get better within 7 days. Nobody i know how is showing these symptoms has recovered within 7 days?!

Runnerduck34 · 06/04/2020 14:58

@longshot
@porcupineinwaiting

Thank you for your replies feel like I'm malingering and should be better by now, I havent had it anywhere near as bad as some of you. I have telephone appt with GP this afternoon.

longshot · 06/04/2020 15:05

Hi all, day 27 and just spoken to GP re my DD (8) and wanted to share what she said as I think it may be useful.

So I feel mostly much improved in myself but have this upper back ache, slight chest tightness/heaviness still and pain in my ribs and under my ribs in the fleshy bit. I was worried about it being my spleen but have spoken to GP who has prescribed penicillen for possible secondary chest infection. I won't take it though unless it gets worse not better. She has told me that they are seeing people get over the symptoms of the fever and the horrid cough generally within 14 days (or be in hospital by then) but then the recovery is going on for weeks after, generally 2-3 more weeks of feeling bad but not terrible. She thinks I have inflammation in my joints and chest wall which makes sense. She said to keep on taking 8 paracetamol AS LONG as i need to / have any pain plus the ibuprofen gel is OK at this stage. She also said it is better to keep taking the paracetamol and ease the pain because my body will actually mend faster than if it were in pain. She did say i must be careful though not to overdo it, don't exercise yet other than short walks.

Re my DD she said she sounds just like i have been but more of a mild illness. Same advice, expect another week of the pains and being tired (that will be 4 weeks for her!). If she starts coughing again or if she gets feverish again to call back but I don't think she will. Also if she is off her food that would apparently indicate a bacterial infection in a child so to call but currently she's ok eating so we just need to sit it out. Paracetamol and water.

KatySun · 06/04/2020 15:07

meltedwellie what a scary link! I have been prescribed antibiotics by my doctor today, which I won’t get until Wednesday due to the pharmacy being busy. My chest pain and cough is worse today when I thought it was getting better. I am on day 18 from when cough started. However, I did overdo it yesterday probably because the laundry was starting to take over the house.

uncomfortable I am glad you had a better night’s sleep. I slept propped up last night again and it is definitely better.

Runnerduck34 · 06/04/2020 15:08

@coleoptera
Sorry you are still suffering, i have no medical advice but i really think you should be able to have a phone consultation with your GP. phone surgery ignore the automated messages and try and get through to reception and ask for telephone appt

longshot · 06/04/2020 15:09

@Coleoptera I think you should call the GP and ask. I would suggest you may have a secondary infection if all that has come back again. I still have some stuff going on but am not convinced it's another infection but nonetheless my GP has prescribed antibiotics in case I need them. I will take them from tomorrow if my chest is feeling any worse / heavier because it just feels odd that I felt better and then all the pain came back again. I am also day 27 similar to you but in myself don't feel too bad today, just have the back ache and slight pain in the top of my back when I breathe in deeply.

stayathomegardener · 06/04/2020 15:14

Good GP update @longshot Could I ask if your GP suggested waiting to see on the antibiotics or was that a personal decision?

findingschools4myboys · 06/04/2020 15:21

Day 27 here
I barely slept as was so wired after the test....it was just a relief to get a validation for why I have been so poorly. I can say today I am better, still heavy but as mentioned yesterday think I am left with post viral labyrinthitis.
No need to catch breath for 2 days now yay!

Update on testing. For anyone who missed yesterday. I tested myself hubby and two other adults who live in house. Myself and hubby have had symptoms for approx same time. Mine were quite bad going into 2nd week. We tested positive while other 2 adults who have had no symptoms tested negative.

I tested my two eldest children today and they were also negative even though they have had temperatures and some other minor symptoms in past 10 days.

But was reading again, problem with antibody testing is that it’s not picking up a lot of mild symptoms cases because they just possibly don’t have enough antibodies if you test too early - or if they get enough at all. The tests are apparently more accurate on people who have had much more severe symptoms. I wouldn’t have called mine severe (i would say pneumonia severe) but might put myself in the moderate camp.

@longshot thank you for sharing what your GO said. I was also told by my doc a little while ago that some people are taking 4-6 weeks to recover. I think everyone is just learning how this virus works as we go along.

Hope I haven’t missed anymore questions??

pinkoneblueone · 06/04/2020 15:21

Doctor has said it sounds like we all have secondary infections in our house. A friend has said her daughter in-laws dad was prescribed antibiotics for the virus and are doing much better which is positive. I hope we are On the mend after this

Kim82 · 06/04/2020 15:22

Hi, just wondering if my symptoms sound similar to anybody else’s please. I’ve had a sore throat on and off for a week, around Friday or Saturday I kept getting a pain in my chest and back, sort of like someone was crushing my chest just for a couple of seconds each time, it isn’t there all the time, it comes and goes. Yesterday I started with muscle aches in my shoulders, arms and legs and I’ve had a headache for days too that doesn’t seem to want to bugger off. I’ve no temp and no cough though. I rang work this morning (gp surgery) as I wasn’t sure whether to go in or not and the doctor said to stay home this week.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or could it be something else entirely?

longshot · 06/04/2020 15:22

@stayathomegardener she suggested it so that I don’t need to call back again. I don’t Like taking them as I always get thrush afterwards but if my breathing still feels weird tomorrow I will do. Also she told me to monitor how much phlegm I am actually bringing up (not a lot) and if it increases take them. I notice it is more if I do stuff.
