To think Scotland’s CMO has caused irreversible damage?

It’s not just that she has broken the rules - that is bad enough. But as a medic she must have thought there was a very low risk in moving between houses and therefore gives permission for everyone to think less of the restrictions and evaluate the risk and carry on. I honestly think she has set the whole of the country back and has caused immense damage.
She doesn’t think going out is risky. That’s the bottom line.

Even she hasn't tried to use that excuse FunTime. She said she needed to close up the house in Fife because she won't be there for a while

Rosehip10 · 06/04/2020 08:21

@FunTimeSummer She has a large house in Edinburgh where her and her husband and his/her kids live. She was popping to her holiday cottage in fife for weekend breaks, at least twice, just her and husband one weekend and then her/husband/kids/dog following weekend and taking walks on beach etc. None of the this was remotely "essential" and she has been for weeks telling us to "stay at home, save lives" and the SG were especially vocal about people travelling to holiday homes a while back!

coachman · 06/04/2020 08:23

Funtime I didn't realise that. But the whole family were in Edinburgh on Thursday night and then in Fife for the weekend. They should only be living in one place.

I've got a second home by the coast. If it's not ok for me to go it's not ok for her either.

HennyPenny4 · 06/04/2020 08:23

A neighbour must have cliped

Rosehip10 · 06/04/2020 08:25

@FunTimeSummer Why the sudden defence of the ex CMO? How do you know what her schooling arrangements are? She acted like a arrogant tit and was sad she was caught more than anything else. And lied about "going to lock the house up". It was inevitable she would resign.

Viviennemary · 06/04/2020 08:43

I'd say the journalist was not in Fife stalking the family. A local possibly took the photo and emailed it to the paper. Apparently house prices have risen massively because of people buying second homes there.

I’m at a loss to understand why there are people on here who think she was doing ok.

What part of Stay At Home are you not understanding? The message is on tv and social media every two seconds. It’s simple.

It’s not up to us to make the rules. They have been made by people who know about these things. We ALL have to follow them. Whether you believe them or not isnt the point. We all must follow them. Including her. The fact that she was part of making them and then flouts them is a serious issue.

We need to stay away from people because this virus spreads like wildfire and you don’t know you have it for many many days, by which time you have spread it to multiple people. We need to stay in one house not go to other houses, because we are not supposed to travel unless it’s essential. Travelling to your second home two weekends in a row for a mini break is not essential.

We have Prince Charles going to another area while suffering symptoms. He should have not done this he should have stayed at home safely isolating, but as he is heir to the throne some think we could cut him some slack. I don’t agree. His home is plenty big enough he could have isolated there.

It’s hard enough to be strict and follow the rules when plenty have a caravan or are missing loved ones and would like to just pop up there. But unlike her we don’t. We are stronger. We don’t cave in times of adversity. It’s that spirit which has kept us going. She broke. She should be out of her post and back to gynaecology or wherever she is from. When you are in an esteemed position you have to be really good and strong and right. Not do as I say but not as I do. I think the FM will pack her off somewhere quietly after this is done where she will work away from the public eye until retirement.

SamSeabornforPresident · 06/04/2020 09:39

I'm at a loss to understand someone who will comment at length on a current affairs issue while having no idea on the most recent (relevant) developments on the situation. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/04/2020 09:56

Why are people sayinng Fife is her second home? It's her main residence her kids go to school there! Her second home is the one in Edinburgh she works from.

It's a moot point, she should have just stayed in one of her houses with her family. Edinburgh is of course better for work, so just pick a house and stay there.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/04/2020 09:58

In all honesty and this is just speculation, but it would surprise me if nicola sturgeon knew exactly where she was.

This is the real point.

Who knew what she was doing and why did they ignored it.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/04/2020 10:00

She's gone. Problem solved

It's not though. The damage is done.

The infection tracker shows that holiday home owners on Anglesey brought the infection with them.

SpanishGoatFlower · 06/04/2020 10:04

You expect this behaviour from Trump and Johnson, not our, now former, CMO. She is no better than them, that is the really disappointing bit for me.

sunglasses123 · 06/04/2020 10:14

Sturgon should have fired her once she found out that she had gone TWICE over the last week, once with husband and once with her kids. What bit of her own message did she not understand or did she just think 'rules dont apply to me'.

This has done huge damage to the campaign (she was the face of the campaign!) and Calderwood should hang her head in shame. Not just go back to her highly paid role until this all blows over.

Surgeon stated this morning she didnt know she was travelling backwards and forwards but that doesnt make sense if they were working 24/7.

Stupid, stupid woman!

MorrisZapp · 06/04/2020 12:01

Anyone saying 'but what about the journalist' is beyond hope. Unless they can guarantee they'd say the same if Farage, Johnson or Rees Mogg was photographed breaking the rules then they can pipe the heck doon.
