To think Scotland’s CMO has caused irreversible damage?

It’s not just that she has broken the rules - that is bad enough. But as a medic she must have thought there was a very low risk in moving between houses and therefore gives permission for everyone to think less of the restrictions and evaluate the risk and carry on. I honestly think she has set the whole of the country back and has caused immense damage.
She doesn’t think going out is risky. That’s the bottom line.

OP posts:
LavenderQuartz · 05/04/2020 22:41

her behaviour may have been disgraceful but making her make a further fool of herself serves no purpose except to make things much worse for her

and why was my post deleted anyway? i voiced a genuine concern that this kind of thing could leave a person suicidal!!! jesus, this place!!

Russellbrandshair · 05/04/2020 22:42

No one “made her make a fool of herself” good grief. She did that all by herself. It’s called personal responsibility.

Iamamoleinthegarden · 05/04/2020 22:42

Clearly she does not believe her own propaganda and has the good sense to behave in accordance with her own knowledge instead.

She just got caught.

NewDOOFUSfor20 · 05/04/2020 22:43

I think it shows that driving 44 miles with the people you live with and walking your dog's with those people is fine , clearly neither her husband or her kids thought to question it either

I think this ^ is exactly what the OP was talking about.

Artesia · 05/04/2020 22:45

LavenderQuartz i found your (now deleted) comment really inappropriate and distasteful.

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 22:46

Actually, I do believe she should have been told/allowed to go quietly

Parading her apology in such a craven way does neither her, nor anybody else in this shitshow, any favours at all

She did wrong but I don't believe in public humiliation. Short, sharp action ie. "here's your P45, off you fuck" would have been better

LavenderQuartz · 05/04/2020 22:48

why @artesia

caroline flack took her life when all the public speculation became too much, this lady may feel the same. a short announcement would have sufficed

no need to have hauled her up there to apologise in the manner she did

Makeitgoaway · 05/04/2020 22:49

She had to apologise because Nicola Sturgeon needed her to stay, so that's a bit awkward now.

LuluJakey1 · 05/04/2020 22:53

I can't comprehend what she was thinking when she did it.

No one will find out?
What I am saying is rubbish and it doesn't matter if I do it or not?
I am the exception?

It was irresponsible, arrogant and showed really poor judgement. Her apology was awful-she sounded like a child who has been told to say sorry and says 'I did it and I was very wrong and it will never happen again. I am sorry'.

The police should have fined her - one rule for some and another for her, again.

Nicola Sturgeon should have sacked her.

Her position was untenable - she has lost the trust and respect of the public, has disrespected them, her colleagues in the NHS and everyone who has suffered in this horrible crisis. The consequences of her actions may be further illness and even death. She could not continue-it would have been farcical to have her giving that message about how people have to behave.

Jux · 05/04/2020 23:01

Her 'apology' was a real number. "mistake" my arse, accidentally fell into her car which somehow uncontrollably drove to her 2nd home.

"Human error", oh yes.

Deliberate flouting of the rules mingled with an extraordinary sense of entitlement which tells her she's too important for the rule to apply to her.

So so so glad she's resigned. I hope whenever she's introduced to a new person they say "ooooooohhhhhh yes, you're the one who did that aren't you?" for the rest of her life. Wink

I may be somewhat bitter as I have been stuck in the ruddy house for over two weeks now.

Duck90 · 05/04/2020 23:11

How many other prominent government officials (mp’s or civil servants - involved) are heaving a sigh of relief that the Sun wasn’t following them this weekend to their second homes? I doubt she was the only one doing this.

Duck90 · 05/04/2020 23:24

I'm sure she's very well esteemed, but she's an OBGYN

I don’t understand why this qualification is a problem to you? It saves women’s lives! Gynaecologists don't get their degrees from the Internet.

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 23:24

This was her "Ratner" moment.

Extraordinarily stupid behaviour from someone eho should know, and do, better.

NiceViper · 05/04/2020 23:28

BBC has just reported that she has resigned

Lala241280 · 05/04/2020 23:33

I totally agree what she has done on all levels was wrong however she was in her job because she was the best person for the role
Can’t see how her leaving is helping us in this awful time we are going through

Duck90 · 05/04/2020 23:36

Extraordinarily stupid behaviour from someone eho should know, and do, better

Like many men have done also, but still are working/not experiencing this level of hate ... Boris and his hand shaking/minimising of threat Prince Charles heading to Scotland/over paid footballers and prostitutes. They are not getting the same Level of attention.

SoleBizzz · 05/04/2020 23:40

Sack her

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 23:42

@Duck90

Yes they are, just not in this thread. Why would they ?

Aquamarine1029 · 05/04/2020 23:43

She made a complete and utter twit of herself. I have zero sympathy for her.

I find it bizzare that the CMO takes weekends off in the middle of the biggest emergency her and her country have ever seen.

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 23:49

Yeah. I don't get to take weekends off at the moment.

Duck90 · 06/04/2020 00:00

Yes they are, just not in this thread. Why would they ?

Well they haven’t reached the level of hate She has had in one day! Are you policing this thread? It’s my opinion that women is being treated differently from the men.

I’m sorry you have had to work all weekend, I hope you are okay and wish you the best.

AnyFucker · 06/04/2020 00:05

If, for example, little Matt Hancock was found to have scuttled to a holiday home for some R+R he would get just as much, if not more, "hate"

Why is criticising someone's awful behaviour described as "hate"

SamSeabornforPresident · 06/04/2020 00:08

I think it is the manner of the criticism on social media and on this thread, that pushes the definition into 'hate'. It's possible to criticise someone's behaviour without the vitriol that some posters here are displaying.
