To think Scotland’s CMO has caused irreversible damage?

It’s not just that she has broken the rules - that is bad enough. But as a medic she must have thought there was a very low risk in moving between houses and therefore gives permission for everyone to think less of the restrictions and evaluate the risk and carry on. I honestly think she has set the whole of the country back and has caused immense damage.
She doesn’t think going out is risky. That’s the bottom line.

Yep, one rule for us dafties and one rule for them in charge.
Bet Matt Hancock is next, he looked shifty at the podium today.

ssd · 05/04/2020 22:02

And I'm pissed off Sturgeon didn't sack her. Makes Sturgeon look silly.

ssd · 05/04/2020 22:02

And I'm a yes voter and this won't help us one wee bit.

Bigjigsaw · 05/04/2020 22:07

She has resigned

Horehound · 05/04/2020 22:08

She's resigned. Good. There was no other outcome. What a stupid, stupid thing to do. What was she thinking in the first place?!

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 22:09

Good riddance. Stupid woman. Her husband needs to fuck off too.

lyralalala · 05/04/2020 22:11

As soon as she said that she'd done it last weekend as well with just her husband she screwed her own "We had to lock it up" excuse and had to go.

I wonder if Nicola Sturgeon was expecting that in the press conference. I can't imagine so as it made them look downright stupid.

googlepoodle · 05/04/2020 22:13

She had to - it was unbelievably stupid but the damage is done. She has made a mockery of the many people sacrificing for this.

Agree her husband needs his arse kicked too.
And instead of saying sorry 40 million times she should gave walked on, said sorry then resigned straight away.

Horehound · 05/04/2020 22:17

Who is her husband @AnyFucker or do you just mean because he went too?

WhatsTheFrequencyKennneth · 05/04/2020 22:18

The police must be furious. They're the ones trying to enforce the rules. How are they meant to do that when the CMO is behaving like this? She had absolutely no justifiable reason, 2 weekends in a row! People will start to rebel and who can blame them.

Makeitgoaway · 05/04/2020 22:18

I agree, she's the expert and she thought the rules didn't matter, so now I'm wondering how important they really are. She's gone now, it's beyond me why anyone tried to defend her but the damage is done. If lockdown does have to become harder it will be down to her as much as the people in parks and she was paid good taxpayers' money to prevent it.

Iamthewombat · 05/04/2020 22:19

She has made a mockery of the many people sacrificing for this.

Agreed. She has probably had a great time striding in and out of briefings and press conferences looking important. Shame she didn’t understand that the most important thing somebody in her position could do was practise what she preached.

She’s now resigned according to BBC news

EightNineTen · 05/04/2020 22:20

The only outcome.

It doesn't matter if it was a low risk thing to do, when you're the CMO you have to lead by example.

Makeitgoaway · 05/04/2020 22:22

She has a big house and garden in a beautiful city. It's bad enough that people with those kinds of arrangements get to tell people in small flats they can't sit in the park, but we understand why....or do we, if the expert doesn't believe it?

I can’t find who her husband is - what’s his job?

Horehound · 05/04/2020 22:32

That did cross my mind @LavenderQuartz but she does have teen kids so I really doubt it. Hope not anyway!

GeraldTippett · 05/04/2020 22:32

Why do we want her husband to resign? Fewer healthcare professionals is NOT what we need right now

KaronAVyrus · 05/04/2020 22:34

She really had no option. Her behaviour was disgraceful.

AnyFucker · 05/04/2020 22:36

We don't need health professionals who do not possess the integrity required for the job

Nobody is indispensable and these arrogant fuckers will learn that the hard way. This woman was paid handsomely by the NHS and there is a certain level of behaviour we should be able to expect from her and others at similar levels of responsibility.

Stroller15 · 05/04/2020 22:39

I don't usually jump on the resign bandwagon but in this case she surely should resign. How can anyone listen to her again? The whole point was to stay home. Irrespective of risk assessments.

Russellbrandshair · 05/04/2020 22:40

@anyfucker

Totally agree. Glad she’s gone. Her actions not only undermined the advice being given to the public but they are a complete slap in the face to those working on the frontline of the NHS. I don’t know how she can look her medical colleagues in the eye a after what she did. Utter hypocrite
