If you went that is?
My friend works in Sainsbury's and said to me that yesterday the queue was 2 hours to get in.
I went to aldi earlier and had to wait around half an hour. One in one out.

6.15pm local Tesco, smallish store. Waited a few minutes to get in.
Biggest holdup was at checkout, but again only a few minutes.
I asked the checkout assistant what the quietest time was, and she said around when I went.
She also told me people were queueing at around 6.45am every day to get in! Sod that for a game of soldiers....

Are self scanners (the ones you take round with you at Tesco and the like) available or are they turned off?

mineofuselessinformation · 05/04/2020 00:27

Onceateacher, self checkouts are still going ahead here.

hammeringinmyhead · 05/04/2020 00:30

Last Saturday at Asda - 20 minutes. Today at Sainsbury's - maybe 10?

OldUnit · 05/04/2020 01:04

45 minutes. Asda, North West.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 05/04/2020 01:26

I went to Sainsbury's, straight in and straight out.
Practically fully stocked shelves.

jcurve · 05/04/2020 07:28

One hour, large Waitrose in London at 11am Saturday.

RU562341 · 05/04/2020 13:32

Asda today. Queue looked awful, but wasn't too bad really- with everybody standing 2m apart (marked on floor) it looked much worse than it was. About 15 minutes to get in.

CallmeAngelina · 05/04/2020 13:45

I had a friend who waited 40 minutes to get in to Sainsbury's on Friday afternoon. I went at around 3.30 on Saturday and there were about 10 people waiting and it took about 5 minutes.
The checkout lady said the worst time is just after opening if you're too far back in the queue to get in in the first wave. You then have to wait for those people to do their entire shop and leave before you get to the one in, one out bit.

CallmeAngelina · 05/04/2020 13:46

Very quiet and civilised once inside too. Mostly fully-stocked, too.

Onceateacher · 05/04/2020 13:57

Thanks @mineofuselessinformation (see, that wasn't useless to me!)

theneverendinglaundry · 05/04/2020 13:58

On friday afternoon I queued around 15-20 minutes to get into sainsburys. They even had some toilet paper and pasta!!

I'm in a commuter town in Herts.

Smithtylater · 10/04/2020 17:27

I had to queue 1hour today. Tesco seemed verrrry busy! Must be people stocking up for the long weekend.

About 35 mins to get into Aldi at mid day. Once inside I filled my trolley to overflowing, hoping that I won't have to go back for about 10 days

MrsWhites · 10/04/2020 18:08

Morrison’s at around 1pm today, about 45 min. Nothing left when I got in, no fresh veg really, not much chicken, no lamb at all, no eggs, no bacon, not a single bit of bbq food, not much shower gel etc left! Bit of a disaster really!

Randomschoolworker19 · 10/04/2020 18:10

I go to Tesco at 9PM (they close at 10PM) and I have never had to queue.

It's nice and empty of people but still plenty of stock on the shelves.

Honestly you're just asking to get the virus queuing up for hours.

Gluestick80 · 10/04/2020 18:22

An hour an a half here today for Sainsbury’s. They were handing out bottles of water.

LolaTP · 10/04/2020 18:28

Tesco extra. No queue. No one in. Fully stocked. In and out in 15 mins.

Fortyquinn · 10/04/2020 18:38

Hour and a half today ( Dublin)

jcurve · 10/04/2020 19:02

90 minutes yesterday for Waitrose in London.

Galvantula · 10/04/2020 19:13

Aldi this afternoon, probably about ten minutes at most.

I fucking hated it though, so many people with no clue about social distancing milling around, not waiting for others to be finished at a section etc.
