Until we are issued what is deemed an essential shopping item ANY food/drink item is ok to buy.
I’ve been working today outside. It’s hot.
On my way home I stopped at my local independent shop & bought myself 2 bottles of cold beer.
I live alone & work alone & it felt great to chat with the shop owner (2m apart) .
When I left the shop a cyclist said me ‘ hardly an essential item is it’

Just stop it .
I’m ashamed of what my fellow human beings have become.

The beer is cold & I shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed for buying it

Where did you miss the part it was the first time I'd been out in TWO FUCKING WEEKS

Mumto1girl3boys · 04/04/2020 20:21

I do get it, we're allowed to go to the shops once per day which i did do. I havent left my house for the past week.

Not that I should need to explain myself to you

Cohle · 04/04/2020 20:22

Shopping once every fortnight is too much for you?

Jesus fucking Christ!

No, of course not, and I haven't said it is Confused

I just asked you why you think I need to "give my head a fucking wobble", at which point you hadn't even said how often you shop. Is there a reason you're so aggressive about this? It's very odd.

bluebluezoo · 04/04/2020 20:24

Your post said go to the shops whenever you want for whatever you want.

That is completely different to once per day.

Mumto1girl3boys · 04/04/2020 20:26

What i ment was.....if OP felt like popping to the shops for beer then she should be able to without some fuckwit making comments at her!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 04/04/2020 20:26

I went to asda earlier because i was in the mood for making rice pudding

There are no words really.

Mumto1girl3boys · 04/04/2020 20:27

there are no words really

Honestly😫😫

I WENT TO THE FUCKING SHOPS ONCE! ITS NOT A BLOODY CRIME!

Does it matter if i went for a full shop or rice pudding?

ALittleBirdhouse · 04/04/2020 20:28

My DH does a weekly shop for us then does a top up shop through the week. Last week he forgot something on the shopping list and popped to the shop to get it the next day. What's the issue?

Go to the shop whenever you want and buy whatever you want. I went to asda earlier because i was in the mood for making rice pudding. Nobody elses business aslong as i stay 2m away from them😊

Two examples of unecessary risk above. Every time you visit somewhere with people and surfaces, you run the risk of passing on or contracting the virus. Then the numbers just keep rising and more patients, nurses and doctors will die.

So shop as little as possible. Buy what you like in the shop while you are there but don't dawdle, don't browse . If you forget something, make do without it. Stretch your shopping, reduce the quantities of food you use. Use up.what is in your cupboard. Try and keep going for an extra day or two each time.

Across the country this will SAVE LIVES.

Flymetothetoon · 04/04/2020 20:31

@Cohle you're obviously one of 'Them'

Need to be the last to answer when you have clearly lost the argument 💩💩🤷‍♂️

TinklyLittleLaugh · 04/04/2020 20:31

Mumto1girl3boys

I bet you are out there clapping for the NHS aren’t you? Your actions will lead to more people dying.

Cohle · 04/04/2020 20:34

Need to be the last to answer when you have clearly lost the argument

You're going to have to explain to me what the argument is I'm afraid. I genuinely have no idea what your point is or what it is you so violently disagree with me about that it justifies so much aggression.

I asked you why you think I should "give my head a fucking wobble" and all you've done since is swear at me...

Mumto1girl3boys · 04/04/2020 20:37

@TinklyLittleLaugh

No I wasn't actually, I found it really cringy, as did the couple of nurses I know.

They should be getting praised all the time not just went theres a pandemic 😊

Jane10000000 · 04/04/2020 20:41

Those of you who believe in frequent shopping, hope none of your love ones need ventilators as we don’t have many. If they do then remember it’s a self inflicted disease! Which you chose for them.

Flymetothetoon · 04/04/2020 20:43

@Cohle

What I want to say to you would almost certainly get me a ban.

I'll leave it there.

Flaxmeadow · 04/04/2020 20:44

Does it matter if i went for a full shop or rice pudding

Yes it does. It matters a lot right now

Jaxhog · 04/04/2020 20:44

The problem isn't WHAT you buy, it's how OFTEN you go out to buy stuff. So if you went out just for a couple of bottles of beer, then that was a non-essential journey. Once a week shopping should be enough for most people.

BeetrootRocks · 04/04/2020 20:45

Without a car? By themselves? For a family of 5?

You must be built like giant haystacks.

I don't particularly care what people buy, but I do think you should be going out as little as possible.

I'm going to the shops a couple of times a week for food. I wouldn't go out just because I fancied one thing and didn't have it in. I'd wait til the next time I need to go and buy it then, otherwise I'd be out every morning for fresh croissants and bread rolls. There's nothing stopping me going to get them every day of course, but I don't need them and it's more sensible to wait and go to the shops less often at the moment.

Haffiana · 04/04/2020 20:55

This is so nasty. Those dead nurses inflicted it on themselves, did they?

Flaxmeadow · 04/04/2020 20:55

Yes but you're wasting your time. Because some people are shopaholics and as we are learning, It's an illness many simply cannot control. Even in the middle of a pandemic, the worst crisis since the second world war, they need and must state the uncontrollable urge to look at shiny precious things and purchase . Feed the addiction everyday by at least browsing or making a some token purchase. It's sad really. But it is what it is. I dont know what the answer is. Cold turkey or gradual reduction?

Flaxmeadow · 04/04/2020 20:56

*sate

Haffiana · 04/04/2020 21:00

"Many people can only carry a day's food at a time."

Nonsense.

From your lofty tower of privilege, you know what it is like to shop for your family with no car? To shop when you are old? How fucking dare you.

LilacTree1 · 04/04/2020 21:01

OP sorry that happened to you, what a wanker.

So tired of people and their weekly shop crap

I live in a small studio flat with limited space for storage. I can manage on a weekly shop but many couldn’t. Also many couldn’t carry it or pay for it.

So many MNers seem to think everyone is rich, has a car, has a big home.

Haffiana · 04/04/2020 21:03

Because some people are shopaholics

Some people? You mean Other People surely.
