After the three weeks are up?
I'm assuming so but my friend seems to think it won't and shops are going to magically re open.
I've told her we are likely in for the long haul

13th April I believe

Salene · 02/04/2020 08:10

Thanks , my husband is due to travel abroad back to work on 14th April I wonder if it will have an effect on that

Unfortunately not going isn't a option from his employer, unless he can't actually get there.

When this lockdown does lift slightly
What is likely to happen?
Will it be two hours a day allowed to exercise then gradually increase till shops open etc
Pubs /restaurants
I'm assuming it won't just be
"Lockdown over..back to normal"

Well considering there is not a time limit on exercise I wouldn’t have thought it would be 2 hours a day if lockdown was lifted a bit

thatswhytheladyisatramp · 02/04/2020 11:05
  • a hour outside to exercise (walk etc )

Hopefully the schools will reopen.

EffOrf · 02/04/2020 11:11

I thought the hour for exercise was a suggestion not in the actual guidelines though they may have changed, I don't walk that long anyway so it wouldn't affect me personally just don't like to see the guidelines interpreted by various different people with no basis in fact

I reckon we’re in til the end of June.

Charlottejade89 · 02/04/2020 11:31

I think the lockdown will be extended for at least another 6 weeks after this initial period has ended and I do t think we will be back to normal until September, I think after end of june/early July things will start reopening but in stages and still sticking to social distancing rules. Sky news reported yesterday that our curve is going steep now and it's likely we will be worse affected than italy

A pp mentioned Sheffield as being a hotspot. According to local news last night the figures are higher in Sheffield bevause the big teaching hospitals in Sheffield are testing more people. Didn't catch all of it but basically saying if everywhere was testing as many, the figures would be higher everywhere else.

I am anticipating June but hoping for more clarity moving forwards. We are in the construction industry. Half of sites closed. Half of big developers closed. Half of building merchants closed. Told by government to keep working if safe to do so. Someone got stopped and cautioned that travelling to building site to work wasn't a necessary journey and will be fined. But told by bojo and co it's vital to keep the economy moving.

Dh been off since last Wednesday. His site is still open and unless told otherwise he's planning on returning after Easter monday. But we need to know he can car share as rest of lads don't drive and not get stopped and he can't physically do his job on his own.

I desperately want to see the dcs back at school before the summer though, even just for social reasons. We are going to end up with a load of dysfunctional teenagers if not.

I was quite impressed with the initial response from the Government but they have left quite a lot open to interpretation and it's caused more issues than just strict rules.

Until June? Do you think the population will tolerate that? I suspect increasing social unrest and protest. After all, we are essentially under house arrest.

I am in my 50's and there is no guarantee I would fare well with Covid 19. My mother would almost certainly die if she contracted it. Nevertheless, there's a limit.

Limitisup great user name.

LimitIsUp · 02/04/2020 12:45

Pure accident @AutumnRose1, but yes, very apt Grin

I suspect the lockdown will be lifted in June, with gradual easing of restrictions from May onwards. I would be very surprised if the schools didn’t go back in June as otherwise millions of people wouldn’t be able to resume work.
