Corona symptoms that are NOT fever and dry cough?

cornishdreams1 · 29/03/2020 17:40

I travelled to the Middle East in early February, when we came back both my dd and I came down with the same bug. We had the most god awful taste in our mouths, neither of could not taste anything at all, we both felt sick.
We had D&V for one day and one night, and stomach cramps for over a week. For two nights were not feverish, but sweating as you may do with normal D&V and my dh described us both as very rosy looking. I had a sore throat on and off and my glands are up for three weeks. My dd completely recovered and did so within the first week. My symptoms are persisting on and off but I feel better. The one thing I have had is very red eyes, not sore or infected but just really red raw. I used eye drops to alleviate it.

This morning I read in the Sunday papers that these are symptoms of Coronavirus in younger people. I am shocked. I had no idea at all, and have been carrying on as normal up until the lockdown. I could have infected numerous people, at no point until I read this article did I think this may be coronavirus, and if this is the case, there may be many many more people working and shopping/caring for the elderly/nursing as normal with some of these symptoms.

Have you heard anything about this?

This needs to be publicised as most people with stomach cramps or sore eyes would not consider CV.

Oh, also stomach cramps. Eyes were more dry than sore, but bad enough to give me blurred vision and make me go out to buy Optrex

Thanks OP!

I am just finding the other links, as my kindle has died and I can't check annoyingly.

OP I had exactly the same symptoms as you, down to a tee. I was on here wondering whether I had it myself.

I have never before in my life experienced that god awful taste and it just would not go away no matter what I ate, drank, or however much I brushed my teeth.

I've since seen that this symptom was a prominent feature for a doctor here in the UK who was tested and confirmed positive.

cornishdreams1 · 29/03/2020 18:46

Yes the taste is so unusual, like bad breath on steroids and I was very embarrassed of it, and very conscious of how revolting it was. We used mouthwash, and nothing would remove it. It was the taste of decay.

As far as I know antibody tests aren't yet available. Although they hopefully will be soon

Happy to be corrected though

Headache
Dry eyes
Diarrhoea
Aches
Cough
Bad taste in mouth
Fatigue

Ihatesundays · 29/03/2020 18:53

I had a headache for 6 days and sore eyes.
I put the headache down to anxiety, it makes me suspicious it’s now gone and I am still quite anxious!

cornishdreams1 · 29/03/2020 18:53

Antibody tests, all being well with the last of the testing, should be out next week. Front line and all NHS staff will be the first to be tested, quite rightly, and then the rest will be rolled out via Boots online and Amazon apparently.

ik It is beginning to look like that is indeed coronavirus!

Yes and you would not be wrong to be surprised at this, as we are all looking for:

Fever
Shortness of breath
Dry consistent cough

Bum. Thank you OP.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 29/03/2020 18:59

I’m in bed with 3rd day of a skull crushing headache on the first day I couldn’t even open my eyes with the pain. Moving my eyes was impossible.

Yes to pregnancy type fatigue. Aching hips and legs.

No ability to taste or smell.

Sore throat abated a bit now.

I have waves of coughing and feeling like someone sat on my chest - but only maybe every couple of hours.

No high temp, but I never do, even when I once had bad pneumonia.

I think the cough/high temp thing v misleading as several people I know have had the same symptoms as me.

Bunnyfuller · 29/03/2020 19:03

I’ve had vague cold symptoms, mild headache, occasionally coughing and a couple of episodes of tight chest. Nothing I would say was ‘it’ though - too vague and just seems to be the same every day.

DH suddenly felt really sick yesterday and went really pale. Then it went.

Who fucking knows!

cornishdreams1 · 29/03/2020 19:04

life I would get some advice if your chest pain continues - Flowers it is rubbish, really not nice. I hope you feel better soon x

Haven’t been tested but I’m pretty certain I had it at the start of March and husband has it now

My headache lasted two weeks , sore eyes , zero energy to even lift my arms , aching all over , fever , kidney function dropped (I have CKD) and terribly breathless.
Interestingly the cough only started right towards the end and is still continuing although all other symptoms have cleared

SunshineCake · 29/03/2020 19:04

I've been in bed since Wednesday, not like me at all as I never stay in bed even when poorly in normal times. Been coughing for about 11 days. Also had conjunctivitis, weird stomach pain but only one off and in the evening, chest and back tightness, sore eyes like I've burnt them, headache, inexplicable tiredness and breathing difficulties.

Yay or no?

I hope everyone who is poorly isn't too bad.

Xenia · 29/03/2020 19:05

Also I believe the UK official list has changed - originally it was the temperature and cough (not shortness of breach which was added relatively recently).

If there are other symptoms then we have really damaged the nation but those who have the others infecting others needlessly. The sooner we have tests on demand for anyone who wants one the better both to see if you have it now and to check if you have had it in the past and have some or complete immunity from catching it again.

Fishcakey · 29/03/2020 19:05

I have only read that diarrhoea is a rare symptom and nothing about vomiting anywhere.

Omashu · 29/03/2020 19:09

I’ve had red eyes for a couple of days. Not sore, it just looks like I’ve been crying 🤷🏼‍♀️ Nervous about whether this will be it or whether I’ll develop more symptoms. Praying I don’t!

For over a week now I’ve had no taste or smell and feel exhausted. It’s hard to just get my legs to walk upstairs. No other symptoms.

ThrowingGoodAfterBad · 29/03/2020 19:13

This is confusing me now. I had a sickness bug with flu-like symptoms including fever a few weeks ago, had a bad cough / cold / something on my chest that I can't fully shake since. I've rarely felt so ill as I did for the first few days. There was something described in those terms going around in my area at the end of last year, it flattened loads of people. Was that coronavirus? The trouble is it's so similar to every other viral bug going round - every cold affects your sense of taste and smell. We need that testing.
