Say The Guardian

www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/mar/28/boris-johnson-coronavirus-outbreak-will-get-worse

Not seen this reported elsewhere?

He's probably sitting there now with his new pens and pads of paper muttering "let's get this done".

Eckhart · 29/03/2020 00:06

Well after seeing the attitudes on here I hope he’s writing it in crayon and drawing pictures to illustrate what a lockdown actually looks like

Tea came down my nose! I quite agree.

NotATeen69 · 29/03/2020 00:19

I'm not opening anything written by that dickhead.

DowntownAbby · 29/03/2020 00:20

@Fluffycloudland77

Yes! And using only very small words, too.

Alsohuman · 29/03/2020 00:21

Scandalous waste of money. Who’d have ever thought the Tories would be the profligate party?

FfsCorona · 29/03/2020 00:22

The letter is already on the news, it says exactly what he’s said already, repeatedly

DowntownAbby · 29/03/2020 00:23

@Pigsnduvets

Why does Boris suddenly feel the need to parent everyone in the sodding country?

Maybe this will explain why it needs to be done?

LittleRootie · 29/03/2020 00:36

A futile, wasteful gesture. I've already read the letter on sky so they could save one letter. Presumably it's just a stunt so later on when they are accused of inaction they can chant 'we wrote to EVERY household in the country'

There is nothing at all new in the letter so in fact they could save them all and target the money more usefully. Perhaps an ad campaign on SM to try to get through to younger people who think CV isn't something they don't need to worry about and are still meeting up in groups.

GatoradeMeBitch · 29/03/2020 00:45

“From the start, we have sought to put in the right measures at the right time."

Actually I think you'll find that from the start Boris, you found the whole thing very amusing and bragged about shaking the hands of possible CV patients in hospital like it was meant to be impressive...

This government has got to be the worst for blatant gaslighting in modern history.

CendrillonSings · 29/03/2020 02:34

No letters would be needed if idiots didn’t decide that they are too special to follow the rules...

If it were printed on a roll of three-ply, I'd be vaguely interested.

Fucking brilliant idea. Birds. Stone.

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 03:53

Who will deliver the letters? I hope they use Royal Mail. Loads of overtime!

juston · 29/03/2020 11:26

I think it's because they will start stricter penalties on infringers next week and need to cover theirselves legally to show it was a lawful instruction communicated in writing to everyone

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 29/03/2020 16:42

Ooh, good theory @juston

I see in the press that Derbyshire police have broken up a party of 25 adults and children.

People are clearly still not getting the message

OP posts:
ShanghaiDiva · 29/03/2020 16:49

It just beggars belief that people don’t understand this very simple message.

LittleRootie · 29/03/2020 17:08

I think people do understand, maybe they just don't believe it's really a crisis. A lot of people still haven't been affected personally so it's not real to them.

Also, people's opinion of politicians is at rock bottom and having a serial liar and womaniser for PM doesn't help one bit.

CendrillonSings · 29/03/2020 17:13

So they’ll ignore critical public health directives during a pandemic because waaah Boris Johnson waaah? Are they toddlers?

Pigsnduvets · 29/03/2020 17:15

Derbyshire Police seem to be having a terrible time lately

They've got far too much time (and dye) on their hands..

Alsohuman · 29/03/2020 20:38

Too right, I never, ever want to hear them whining that they’re under resourced again. Bet their chief constable’s incandescent.

LittleRootie · 29/03/2020 23:53

Alsohuman I'm actually starting to feel sympathy with Theresa May and her 'stop crying wolf' comment, and those are words I never thought I would write! Shock

If they've nothing better to do they should be redeployed to large cities and help assist with social distancing measures there.

They'll probably be needed there in a couple of weeks anyway when people start kicking off.

Chris Grayling: 'hold my beer'.

noego · 30/03/2020 10:32

Considering the virus stays on surfaces and paper is a surface that apparently the virus stays on for 4 hours its a fucking wonderful idea.
You'd think some scientific brain he's being advised by would explain to him the potential disaster and why the journalists haven't pointed this out to the government is beyond me.

catscatscatseverywhere · 30/03/2020 10:36

He should stay away from my house, because I am an immigrant😂 I sometimes think I should put a sticker “Polish couple lives here”, so maybe conservative party won’t be putting any leaflets through my letterbox.
