Why are people misunderstanding?

The reason we are on lockdown is to stop the spread and to not overwhelm the NHS at one time. Not to prevent deaths! People will die, lots of us will get it, a huge percentage of the population.

Of course I am worried; I have a family member and my best friend who is in the vulnerable group and it is heartbreaking. And then my worries extend to other peoples families.

But it seems like people are not willing to realise this? I feel like I am going mad. Even more mad than usual.

I am obeying lock down rules and trying to protect all people I can.

Vates I'm sorry you are struggling with MH with this, there are an awful lot of people in the same boat x

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 20:46

Puzzled while there are outliers it's clear that for the vast majority of people under s certain age and with no underlying health issues, the risk of long term consequences or death is very low.

This is what the op was talking about.

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 20:59

Eg another thread with a person talking about Family who are presumably not high risk doing shopping, saying it's out of order to ask them to 'risk themselves' for something non essential.

I really do think that a lot of people don't really get this tbh.

00Sassy · 28/03/2020 21:08

It appears you are also misunderstanding.

It’s to slow the inevitable spread of the virus.

Slowing the spread will mean hospital beds should be available to the worst affected which WILL help to prevent deaths.

Tigger001 · 28/03/2020 21:16

I haven't seen a single person on this thread who has said that.

I never said they had on this thread.

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 21:45

Then why mention it?

If you are feeling frustrated about that, there were other threads where you could express your frustration in context.

Hey guys. The Farm - All Together Now = us!

I'm sorry, are you for real ? 😂 I mentioned it as its was relevant to coronavirus and people interpretation to it. It was also a comment preceding a very relevant post and I will post where and what I see fit.

kevintheorangecarrot · 28/03/2020 22:11

It's mainly to save our NHS. They cannot cope with the volume of people.

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 22:27

Come off it Tigger

Of course you can post what you like

But you jumped in saying how frustrated you were with people finding 'reasons' the rules didn't apply, which no one had said, so totally out of context and random.

You're now saying it was good as in response to a post that came after it? Do you have a TARDIS?! Grin most of us here are stuck in the usual position of not responding to posts that haven't been written yet Grin

Tigger001 · 28/03/2020 22:29

If you couldn't see the link then so be it. It was a valid point.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 28/03/2020 22:34

True, and no health service can because this is an extraordinary event.

But if the lockdown damages the economy then the NHS will be suffer as well, so how will save it in that car?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 28/03/2020 22:34

Case

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 22:54

Chardonnay I think the difficulty is that not doing it would also damage the economy.

The thing that doesn't seem to have been costed is the medium to long term impact. Both in terms of economic loss and loss of life etc.

I can't see that the govt could do anything else at the moment tbh. But I think the uncertainty, which is also not the govt fault, is a real problem.

Without a clear timeline/ plan (impossible as the study of the virus is early days) people start to make their own answers up, either positive or negative.

What are you talking about a TARDIS, My one liner comment about being frustrated preceded another of MY comments in the same post that had relevance to the OP title.

BeetrootRocks · 28/03/2020 23:07

Oh so you are saying it's ok to post unwarranted tellings off if you post something related to the thread after.

Ok.

Why are you so keen to get in a row about this? Just say sorry, that was a bit random, I'm not doing so well at the moment and needed to vent. Lots of people are finding this hard.

Tigger001 · 28/03/2020 23:57

It wasn't an unwarranted telling off ConfusedConfusedIt was a comment about something that frustrated me relating to the topic being discussed

Why are you so keen to get in a row about this?

I'm not, and this is my last response on this , you pulled my comment out, I'm simply explaining where you were mistaken.

Just say sorry, that was a bit random, I'm not doing so well at the moment and needed to vent. Lots of people are finding this hard.

😂😂😂😂 I don't need to apologise 😂😂😂

My thoughts are with anyone truly struggling through this, thankfully I'm not one, but I know some are so I hope they are all ok.

00Sassy · 29/03/2020 08:53

Fucking hell, so many threads about Covid-19 are quickly turning into a shitshow aren’t they?! Confused

BeetrootRocks · 29/03/2020 12:42

I suppose telling strangers off on the internet for things they haven't done is one way of making yourself feel better!

Some people do get pleasure out of that sort of thing.

BeetrootRocks · 29/03/2020 12:47

This whole situation is revealing a large trance of people who are really revelling in the opportunity to tell others off. What's the word. Sanctimonious.

The social reaction to this has been really interesting and a bit worrying.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 29/03/2020 12:55

I can only hope there new studies of this and I hope for a balanced solution.

Testing, keeping the vulnerable home, testing some more.

I do worry about the social consequences and economic consequences. It seems at the moment many are seeing it as a reality TV drama in which they have their staring role. What happens next though?
