I'm at home with the family, husband and 3 teenagers. Had a long walk this morning to try and gear me up for a productive day and just realised I've done nothing really. There's loads I could be doing, ironing, cleaning, baking, decorating etc but I'm really struggling to focus and get into things. I feel lethargic and anxious as I'm sure so many do. It's not that I can't think of things to do, I just find myself not doing them, for any longer than 10 minutes anyway!!!!
Kick me up the backside please.

-Had a lie in.
-Went to my allotment and did 2 hours of weeding. (going to allotments is allowed and social distancing rules are being strictly followed).

  • badly bruised my finger on the allotment gate. I am a bit worried I've done something to the bone but I've bandaged it up and it feels ok as long as I don't move it. Terrible timing to get an injury.
  • Lounged around the house.
  • Done some pavement chalk drawing with DD to cheer people up if they walk past our house.
  • Cried a little bit for the world.

Tomorrow will be much the same but hopefully without any injuries.

Monday will be back to the huge challenge of trying to help my ADHD and ASD child cope with doing school work at home.

Please don't feel bad @HereComeTheDaffodils. We're in a completely unknown situation with all the anxiety associated with such a thing. It's a big deal. Of course you are going to feel distracted when trying to 'do' normal life and have all sorts of feelings and thoughts rumbling around your head.

You know how when someone is grieving, sometimes they feel 'normal', sometimes they are blindsided by their feelings? I feel it's a similar albeit scaled-down situation.

I think the advice should be the same too, take things one day at a time and concentrate on identifying those feelings, so if you feel like shite recognise it and don't fight it. You won't feel like that as a permanent state, as all feelings are transitory, both good and bad. But recognising and accepting the feelings will help you process them and then naturally move on to feeling differently, maybe 'lighter' and able to focus on doing some stuff or whatever you think you should be doing. Smile

No kick up the backside is remotely needed.

Today, I have fed our 8 bucket reared calves morning and evening ( always lifts my spirits- they are very friendly), fed and checked our lambing ewes and put 6 cows and calves out to grass and a few ewes with lambs. Makes you smile seeing them dancing in the sun and keeps some routine in the day. Cooked breakfast, watched some films with family and went for a walk.

Worked a 13 hour shift in ICU. It's been non stop today. I admitted another covid -19 patient, (in his 50s, ventilated but so far not too poorly), and I'll be back again for another long day tomorrow. The team has been amazing, morale is high, much helped by delivery of some yummy cakes and free hand cream today.
Thanks for doing your bit and staying in, everyone. I know it can't be easy but it's so worth it. Saying that I am really looking forward to spending a few days at home sometime. But I love my job, and I will help fight this.

FanSpamTastic · 28/03/2020 20:15

I washed my skirting boards - this is very not like me! Usually slattern.

SilverOtter · 28/03/2020 20:21

Studied all morning
Took husband, dog and children out for a long walk which we shortened slightly as it was bitterly cold!

Currently putting toddler to bed (he's actually asleep but I'm comfy lying next to him). Husband is reading our eldest a story.
Planning to watch the Walking Dead when the children are asleepSmile

I have a just turned 3 year old. I have no choice but to keep busy! We have painted, had water play in the garden, lots of trampoline time, played cafe, read books, watched frozen 2 (for the millionth time), I made sausage rolls and pancakes, hung laundry on the line and took it off again, cleaned the bathroom, and now I'm having wine and watching a Jurassic park film while contemplating how early she will get up.

HarrietTheShy · 28/03/2020 20:32

I am currently living in a one room refuge with myself and two young DD’s and my god it’s hard work i have zero motivation and am trying not to cry with bordem the thought of this going on for weeks on end makes me feel quite sick I know I need to get out of this rut but I am struggling to do that!

@Bacardi101 Flowers I have no advice but I hope things improve for you.

Craftycorvid · 28/03/2020 20:51

Sending you all appropriately socially distanced hugs!

I have drunk too much coffee and stared into space whilst questioning my sobriety.

I have queued for my shopping then dodged fecking eejits who can’t measure 6 feet/2 metres.

I have read the papers and faffed on line.

I have phoned my mum.

I have updated my online business profile.

I have done a bit of writing.

And....eaten absolute crap! Bounty bars and a bowl of muesli. Grin.

Herecomethedaffodils · 28/03/2020 20:54

spiffing you rock. Really proud of all you're doing. I hope you manage some well earned rest. Staying in is really hard for me, but I wouldn't ever begin to compare my version of hard for the hard work you and your colleagues are doing. Thank you to those of you who have shared your kind words. I wish you all well
