Lockdown weight gain!

Lighthearted. Sort of. I have gained 3lbs back of the stone that I worked very, very hard to get rid of after Christmas.
Is anyone else having a snacking nightmare? Trying to work, deal with fighting kids, home school and make all the meals. Feeling stressed about jobs, the virus etc. Drinking a joyful glass and a half of wine a night and eating WAY too much chocolate. Eating lots of healthy things too, and going on a 30 minute run, doing Joe Wicks with the kids etc every day. It’s boredom, stress and accessibility of food as we are spending most of the day in the kitchen. I know it’s not a major issue in the scheme of things. But... Help!!!

I don't know what's wrong with me but I am stuffing my face like a hamster. Put on 4 lbs so far, and it's accelerating...

Spikeyball · 25/03/2020 18:31

I'm losing 1-2 lb a week because of rationing my portion of food so I need to visit the shop less. I have also switched from pasta to new potatoes which have considerably fewer calories per portion and lots of bulking things up with carrots etc.( always plenty of carrots).

I've lost a fuckton of weight. One of the positives to come out of the lockdown. At first I just couldn't eat and was having wine or gin for dinner Smile. Then I've been at home moving all day, doing yoga, 30 day shred etc and it is dropping off. Usually sat at my desk for 8hrs straight too busy to bloody move. Feeling so much better.

Womenwotlunch · 25/03/2020 18:38

I have definitely gained weight. I have just been stuffing my face with snack food such as biscuits and crisps. I don’t usually eat snacks. For some reason , there is an abundance of snack type foods in the supermarkets.
From tomorrow, I will stop eating snacks and do some moderate exercise

BlueGheko · 25/03/2020 18:41

You need to practice socially distancing yourself from the fridge Grin. (as do I Hmm)

Booksandwine80 · 25/03/2020 18:45

@DisorganisedOrganiser

The shops maybe?! Confused

cece · 25/03/2020 18:45

I'm gaining too.

Too much time on my hands. Normally I don't have time to think about or eat snacks. I now seem to be starving and grazing all day.

I've made a huge pot of lentil soup for the next couple of days to try and counteract it.

Thedogshow · 25/03/2020 18:52

Bluegecko, yes I do. It’s one of those people who doesn’t think the rules applies to them and keeps wanting to interact with me though.

We went on diets after Christmas so have tons of chocolate we were given. For the first week of this crisis, I was too anxious to eat and lost more weight but now I must be feeling less extremely stressed and back to my normal stress response of wanting to eat non stop. Also had bad cough and fatigue so haven’t done all the exercise I intended, plus am finding it tricky as I usually go swimming for my exercise. Also got cake for lockdown birthday. I feel the odds are stacked against me..?

I always keep a supply of my favourite cereal bars because you can’t always get the less popular ones in except in discount shops like home bargains so tying to ration them, because isolating for 14 days, it’s definitely help shift some weight

WatchingFromTheWings · 25/03/2020 19:20

I'm putting it on. I'm used to 5 big gym sessions a week including up to 20/25km of running on a treadmill. 30 minutes of PE with Joe Wicks just ain't cutting it! 😆

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 25/03/2020 19:20

I dont think people who are putting weight on must be hoarders or going out more than you should. Plenty of people keep well stocked cupboards all year round and just continued to buy as normal.

I am eating less. But that's because I am getting up later. When I start Work on a morning, in the spare room I have been up since 6.30. When I used to go into the office, I was up from 5am, so starving by 9.

Now not so much so I dont eat until lunch. Anxiety might be playing a part as I dont fancy dinner on a night. Havent eaten it in the last 3 days.

Also the shops here are quite well stocked. I havent been to a supermarket since last week. I had one trip out this morning, to my local shop and got milk and bread. And then stayed in the rest.

You dont even go that shop. You tell them what you want and they bring it out, in a big and leave it on the step, then you grab it and Where possible pay by card or bank transfer.

The supermarkets are returning to normal here as well. You could in theory get 3 huge multipacks of crisps. 3 big packs of value biscuits, chocolate etc and still able to our on weight

DisorganisedOrganiser · 25/03/2020 19:46

In a group chat with other school mums at the moment. All struggling to find any food locally or even not so locally, snack or otherwise. Lots hungry. If nothing else it will make me appreciate having access to food usually. Have had a look on amazon. Lots unavailable or saying mong delivery times but hopefully will get some snacks!

delilahbucket · 25/03/2020 20:48

More wine, less swimming = fatter Delilah 🙄

ColourMeExhausted · 25/03/2020 22:21

Yup. Me. I seem to manage ok during the day (although the temptation to have a second breakfast is always there) but after a long and busy day of combing childcare with working from home, I tend to just crumble in the evenings and stuff my face. It's usually the time when I allow myself to go on my phone and catch up on the news, mumsnet and social media. So am really eating my feelings.

I am exercising but really missing my 4 gym sessions, swimming and walk to and from work.

Need discipline!

CookPassBabtridge · 26/03/2020 09:15

I usually stress eat but this situation has sent me the other way, I want to ration all the food and also not spiral into a massive binge and put weight on and make it harder to treat me if I get it.
