Day 7 today so I'm able to go out tomorrow, we need food. DP is still isolating but he'll have to run me in the car, he won't get out.

I'm still coughing but temp been normal since day 3. Gov says can still go out and I'm due back at work.

I'm obviously going to have tissue but I'm scared of what will happen if people see me coughing.

I cannot not go, i also need stuff for my mum.

I'm goung to get lynched

:(

SapphireSalute · 24/03/2020 22:26

does your mum live with you? yes, the public will not be impressed with you coughing, be prepared to be asked to leave the shop

Brooksey5 · 24/03/2020 22:27

Have you seen the Morrison’s food boxes? They’ll deliver next day x

ComtesseDeSpair · 24/03/2020 22:29

Where are you? If I or anyone I know is local, we’d happily drop off a bag of things to tide you over.

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkMaud · 24/03/2020 22:29

Do you have a Covid mutual support group near you?

Igotthemheavyboobs · 24/03/2020 22:29

Brooksey5

We are going to try one of these when our supplies run low. Neither of us have symptoms but I am 37 weeks pg so want to limit interaction outside of the home to as little as possible.

They look great!

I think the cough can persist for a while but after 7 days the virus isn't shedding at an appreciable rate. I get that you might have some panicky looks though.

RedRed9 · 24/03/2020 22:31

Join Facebook, join your local neighbourhood group, ask for help.

You’ll be causing absolute panic in most people by coughing in the supermarket.

TheReluctantCountess · 24/03/2020 22:33

I think you should get someone to drop some stuff off for you, or order a Morrison’s box.

StrawberryJam200 · 24/03/2020 22:33

Surely if you live with others everyone has to isolate for 14 days, or am I wrong?
Find a Fb group who will bring you food, and yr mum. Or ask yr local church or other religious organisation.

womaninatightspot · 24/03/2020 22:34

This is going to be a problem all over the place soon apparently cough can last for weeks after infection. Wishing you good luck.

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2020 22:34

Will see what tomorrow brings, but i need food for my family and my mother who is 85vand unwell, carers categorically refused to shop for her. :( I feel much better but I sound hoarse. I'll do tesco scan and shop. But if im still coughing I'll rethink.

There are many ppl willing to help... I registered in so many groups including NHS, not yet seen anyone asking for help.

Where about are you if u dont mind? If you are near me, i can help after work

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2020 22:37

Strawberry, you are right but as I have had symptoms I can go out. I cannot begin to tell you how much i don't want to. I suffer with anxiety and usually shop with dp as I have panic attacks.

Cornettoninja · 24/03/2020 22:38

Check your local facebook and maybe tweet your MP (they all seem to love a bit of twitter). Lots of groups are being coordinated for precisely this reason and it sounds like your mum could use being on someone else’s radar too.

Sunshine1239 · 24/03/2020 22:39

I’m same and have cough been out today as day 8, no one cared! People cough to all sorts of reasons inc flu and allergies

Floooopy · 24/03/2020 22:41

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere AND know noone, there are many many things you can do before going out. This is a very quick list of things I know I could do if I was in your situation:

  • message or phone any one who lives in the same town and ask them to pick up some essentials. Pay via online bank transfer (I don't even mean friends or family - any acquaintance. So many people are willing to help)
  • lots of our local businesses are doing delivery - have seen posts on Facebook from farm shops, butcher's, etc.
  • Morrison's box
  • put out a request on Facebook. Again, so many people are willing to help- you just have to ask.
Northernsoullover · 24/03/2020 22:41

If you don't use Facebook please at least sign up for it during this. There are dedicated helpers to assist with exactly this.

RedRed9 · 24/03/2020 22:47

^ I can guarantee if I heard you coughing while we were both at the supermarket I would cry in the car on the way home. You can’t possibly know that no one cared.

I’m sure the OP understands this if she deals with anxiety usually anyway.

Icecreambaby · 24/03/2020 22:51

Why don't you wear a mask when out shopping? Do you have one?

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 24/03/2020 22:52

It will be like this Grin
I know how you feel. I’m still coughing. I could go out tomorrow but feel too anxious. Good luck op.

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2020 22:57

Masks do nothing, i am assuming that the government are fairly confident that you won't shed the virus after 7 days???

I won't go if im coughing and reach out.

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2020 22:58

No, you're correct.
OP, do your utmost to avoid going to a supermarket, lots of great advice on here.
