I'm not joking. I live next to a particular denomination church (not CoE) and there are about 12 people in the grounds having photos taken with the bride & groom who are both in full traditional white dress and suit!! WTF?!

Plymouth brethren are an interesting lot

IpeartreeI · 24/03/2020 13:43

Plymouth Brethren are very secretive.

OhCaptain · 24/03/2020 14:05

Ooh who are they?!

noisehelp · 24/03/2020 14:59

What a creepy photo. Are you sure that is a wedding? Never heard of Plymouth Brethren. Off to google Grin

theemmadilemma · 24/03/2020 15:03

She must be up duffed if it's that urgent for a church wedding.

CryptoFascist · 24/03/2020 15:08

Looks very light for 1am

bogoblin · 24/03/2020 15:16

Ah if you've ever seen Son of Rambo the film, the Plymouth Brethren are in that!

This is super spooky and also hilarious. It's cheered me right up!

JKScot4 · 24/03/2020 15:36

They only marry on a Tuesday.

MoonlightMistletoe · 24/03/2020 15:51

That is creepy !

Lynda07 · 24/03/2020 20:10

VTechnophobe · 24/03/2020 20:10

@CryptoFascist I wish I were making this up! The grounds have huge floodlights hence how bright it is.

It was definitely a wedding at 1am! I imagine the actual marriage part took place before midnight due to the lockdown rules coming in.

VTechnophobe · 24/03/2020 20:17

@Elieza Actually I bet you've got it right and it happened just after midnight in that case.

Gammeldragz · 24/03/2020 20:29

Haha this is brilliant!

quasimodo7 · 24/03/2020 20:35

How odd! And all in funeral black? Almost looks like a group of 30 somethings mucking about having a fake wedding in a churchyard!?

clairethewitch70 · 24/03/2020 20:38

See the thread I just started. They are still holding their church gatherings

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 24/03/2020 20:41

Amazing.

HavenDilemma · 24/03/2020 21:04

Please report them! Grin

Eireni · 24/03/2020 21:05

Tbf Plymouth Brethren are a pretty insular lot aren’t they? Not big into mixing with outsiders, work for their own businesses etc? I know a few outcasts and they have zero contact with their families for choosing not to follow the faith. Probably lower risk of catching it than most of us, or passing it on to any of us outsiders.

Still, this is majorly weird, and I love it, Thankyou for sharing 😎

VTechnophobe · 24/03/2020 22:16

@Eireni My pleasure...it was too weird to keep to myself.

We are also opposite a secondary school though which is partially open for children of key workers so I think there is a risk to others and themselves of continuing to gather at the church.

DH said we should report and if it doesnt close we will. I hadn't seen your thread @clairethewitch70 but will read now.

OP posts:
VTechnophobe · 24/03/2020 22:24

Hopefully this was a one off and they will close. The usual weekly gatherings are huge - over 100 cars easily. They travel from miles around to attend as there aren't lots of churches so I think the risk of passing on Corona then spreading it to other towns is increased.

Wonderful photograph! You should send it somewhere for it to be published somewhere by some people who are interested in some such things Wink. It's too to just be on here - maybe the Daily Mail will pick it up.

What is spooky is that right next to where I am typing, an advert for what looks a bridal dress for sale keeps popping up. Yes it is, the caption is 'All Who Wander', uniquely boho wedding dress. Your photo has caused that to happen Shock.

I think the church will close without you having to report. The couple probably did the registrar bit earlier and the church do in the middle of the night with only immediates as guests. Plymouth Brethren families all live together, young people stay with their parents until marriage so if there were only about 12 people they would have been related and no more likely to infect each other than at any other time.

Iooselipssinkships · 25/03/2020 00:02

If you zoom right in there's faces that appear to be staring right at your camera and another which is very odd looking with a long nose.
Creeped out now.

Samtsirch · 25/03/2020 00:34

@theemmadilemma
😂🤣😂

OP Best of luck with going against anyone who has their God on their side

Samtsirch · 25/03/2020 00:42

@Lynda07
I don’t mean to be offensive but I couldn’t tell wether your post was intending to be ironic / sarcastic or not, do you have knowledge of the aforementioned church or are you highlighting something else ?
I am genuinely asking and would welcome your reply .
