No email received, despite being carer to a vulnerable person. (Although Twitter reveals that some non-vulnerable people have got an email to their puzzlement).

Engaged for past 6 hours. (Yes, engaged. No queue).

Ignored on Facebook

Ignored on Twitter - where it transpires a lot of people are having issues with this. I'm lucky enough to be able to use the telephone, but as some people have noted, the "phone only" option excludes some people with disabilities.

Looks like a store visit is called for ... after I was told on Saturday that my charge clearly "doesn't need any proof" as they are in a wheelchair.

Rant over, blood pressure lowered. Stay safe all.

You do all realise that Sainsburys are not actually the Ministry of Food?

Well of course they aren’t, but if they announce a scheme to help (probably with one eye on future brand loyalty, lets be honest) they should be transparent about how it works.

They should also make sure they have good enough data to work from and sufficient manned contact channels to get it off the ground.

goldfinchfan · 23/03/2020 20:00

Yes it is ridiculous that I can't even leave an email.

I had my last delivery yesterday and I wrote on the space for delivery notes that I was self isolating on GP orders etc etc .. Obvs no-one read that either.
To not be able to reach them at all makes me think of Hermes and Vodaphone.

LangClegsInSpace · 23/03/2020 20:20

You are attempting to bully a vulnerable person please do not.

No, I'm not. I'm suggesting that people be realistic about just how fucked things are right now and focus their energies wisely.

goldfinchfan · 23/03/2020 23:21

LangClegs

You have no idea of my situation I will not waste any more energy except I want to say I am entitled to a slot as am very ill and disabled....Sainsburys have taken my money for Delivery Pass but I can't even get a refund.
You perhaps do not understand how little resources are in rural areas and yes I am searching but I should be allowed a delivery as I have 3 serious health issues plus 3 more....my energies are used wisely but I everyone in my situation was promised help and I don't have it form the store I have spent years supporting in online deliveries.

Good food is essential when you are ill. I do not eat processed or junk food.

Beanaballerina · 23/03/2020 23:53

To top it off I live in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere!

RainMinusBow · 24/03/2020 05:25

Hi all

Update... Received an email around 6.30 pm last night suggesting to try again tomorrow (Tues).

I managed to log in at around 7 pm. There were no slots at that point left really except for tomorrow.

I placed my order and all is showing "as available" but I strongly suspect that when the delivery arrives tomorrow evening there will be things on my order that won't be able to have be fulfilled.

Quite rightly there were limits on certain items such as pasta, soap, dog food etc.

If anybody would like I can update them when it arrives?

Hope everyone manages to get something. I have been truly saddened by the selfishness of some in this country who are clearly just out for themselves and couldn't care less for the wellbeing of those more vulnerable.

The whole thing really scared my little boy when we had to go shopping about three weeks ago. As his mummy I have made sure to explain that if everybody did the right thing and thought of others as well as themselves then the shelves would have been fuller.

RainMinusBow · 24/03/2020 05:37

I'm not in receipt of any benefits at at, I am heavily pregnant so was offered a slot. Haven't contacted their vulnerable person helpline either. So no idea where they got my info from?

The only thing I can think of is I did send them a message the other day asking if pregnant women were included in their priority shoppers group. However, that's obviously not proof of pregnancy so not sure it was because of that.

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 05:42

Oh fingers crossed for your impending arrival! I’m up bright and breezy ready to try again all day today. I’ve tried putting my mum and dads name on my account (even though they live with us) to try and trigger the vulnerable delivery Card, I’ve put WE ARE VULNERABLE in the bloody delivery instructions box, I’ve written (emailed) mike coupe ceo (well I dunno about you guys but his tender loving customer care “we love you all” crap is beginning to wear a bit thin now...) READ YOUR DAM EMAILS THEN MIKE COUPE I bet your vulnerable relatives are all at the top of the list! Here endeth the first rant of the day! Good luck all today

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 05:48

Here here goldfinch fan, every single email I’ve sent comes back Thanks for your email, these email boxes are unmanned so no one ever dam well reads them.... WELL SODDING WELL PUT AT THE TOP OF YR INCOMING EMAIL “DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL” THEN WE WONT WASTE OUR TIME HOPE AND ENERGY DESOERATELY TRYING TO CATCH YOUR ATTENTION!

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 06:21

What IS the “vulnerable customer helpline” anyway?

I spoke to them specifically about a disability related query on a general helpline a few weeks back.

I didn’t see any mention of a “vulnerable customer line” when I was looking for the contact number then. I can’t find any trace of one now.

Is it even a real thing?

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 07:30

Right this is vital guys. They (sainsburys) mean vulnerable in the sense of elderly (I think) I’m not sure how rainminusbow was flagged as vulnerable as there isn’t a pregnancy button but from what I gather they must be monitoring our shopping habits for instance if rainminusbow (hope you don’t mind me using u as an example) Is ordering a nursing bra Or newborn nappies or formula(pregnancy Flag) or me for example for my parents ordering incontinence pants and lots of ready meals (my cooking is good honestly they just prefer sainsburys convenience in their little micro) so that’s how I’m guessing they are working it out. Now here is the vital bit... I just went through junk mail and found a sainsburys survey, went through the motions and the final question was what age bracket do you fall into? My instinct was to press 45-55, but I thought that won’t flag up my vulnerable parents so I hit 75+ guess what I went back to my trolley and did the checkout thing and got a message saying they were updating my details and to wait for hopefully “The magic vulnerable email”! * will keep you all posted!

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 07:32

Keep trying to checkout and don’t give up it sometimes happens you might just slip through

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 07:33

Well what kind of method for identifying disabled/vulnerable people is that? They don’t sell wheelchairs or hearing aids or goodness knows what else.

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 08:44

Well do the survey and at the end it says what age are you just put 75 + regardless!

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 09:08

Maybe you’ve cracked it Smile

goldfinchfan · 24/03/2020 11:49

beanaballerina

I hope you are successful.

I cannot get anywhere. I tried replying to emails...no good.

They don't have a disabled phone line...sorry their phoneline is disabled, they don't have a disability phone line....it was a notice saying "if we are wrong then phone this number" that line is either engaged or like last night a polite version of just fuck off we are busy.

Isn't there anyway anyone knows to get through to them that they are locking out us vulnerable customers.?

CaffiSaliMali · 24/03/2020 12:15

I have been trying to call Sainsbury's today to ask about putting myself on their vulnerable customer list. Line is engaged so can't even get in a queue.

I'm not sure who they will count as vulnerable. I fall into one of the 3 groups the PM advised were particularly vulnerable and especially needed to socially distance on 16 March - the elderly, pregnant women and adults entitled to a free flu jab (I'm asthmatic).

However, since then the government has announced that 1.5 million people will be contacted as they are advised to shield i.e. not to leave the house at all for 12 weeks.

I am not yet sure if I fall into the 1.5 million or not yet as there is confusion over Montelukast. Some people on my asthma meds have been contacted, but I haven't and some others haven't either.

So I'm not sure if those of us identified as vulnerable on 16 March still count as vulnerable if we're not in the 1.5m people who need to shield. Will supermarkets only help those told to shield? Many asthmatics are also avoiding food shops as it's clear people are crowding in and not keeping their distance from others and we are more vulnerable due to our asthma. I'm sure the same applies for many people with other disabilities too and they aren't going to shops either.

DH doesn't want either of us going to the shops for food, we have an online order coming in two weeks. We have enough to eat in terms of tins, but our fresh veg and milk will run out before then.

Beanaballerina · 24/03/2020 12:44

Goldfinch pls try not to worry. They can’t let us all starve (surely?!) I feel quite sure that these first few days it will be manic crazy petering off towards Thursday. One thing I would say is when you do get back on BOOK A MID WEEK PASS FOR 6 MONTHS (£18 OR SO) AND THEN YOU DO HAVE RIGHTS!

goldfinchfan · 24/03/2020 12:52

*beanaballerina8

I bought a Delivery Pass before i found out I was blocked.
I hope it makes a difference.
I hope you are right and things will calm down.
It is really annoying though as I do worry.
Also I eat a very restricted diet for health reasons so I don't use milk, tea, or dairy or bread unless it is glutenfree.
I am not being fussy but have a very ill body

Dinosauraddict · 24/03/2020 14:43

In case it helps anyone, I have a delivery slot booked with Sainsbury's tomorrow morning (7-8am) and will update with how successful it is. We were (somehow) automatically flagged as being a vulnerable household (we are, but I hadn't tried ringing or adding us to the list). As I was desperate for formula for my newborn I very gratefully accepted the delivery slot! However my DM who lives no-where near us is also vulnerable, is also registered with Sainsbury's etc and did not get an email/slot, so I have no idea how they are working this out!

SerendipityJane · 24/03/2020 14:44

Been trying all day - 38 engaged tones, and got through once, only to be told (again) to go fuck myself at 1:43.

AlunWynsKnee · 24/03/2020 14:54

I LOGGED ON AND WAS ABLE TO BOOK A SLOT!!!!!!!!!

But now I can't check out - it can't seem to contact the bank. Aaaaaaaargh. I think it's a Sainsbury's problem rather than a bank problem. Will keep trying...

AlunWynsKnee · 24/03/2020 15:13

I've paid :) and had a confirmation email. Oh I'm giddy with excitement!

goldfinchfan · 24/03/2020 15:26

OMG Alun how did you do this?

I am blocked and told I am not in qualifying group though I am so how did you bypass this

and well done you Smile

Elderflower14 · 24/03/2020 15:33
