No email received, despite being carer to a vulnerable person. (Although Twitter reveals that some non-vulnerable people have got an email to their puzzlement).

Engaged for past 6 hours. (Yes, engaged. No queue).

Ignored on Facebook

Ignored on Twitter - where it transpires a lot of people are having issues with this. I'm lucky enough to be able to use the telephone, but as some people have noted, the "phone only" option excludes some people with disabilities.

Looks like a store visit is called for ... after I was told on Saturday that my charge clearly "doesn't need any proof" as they are in a wheelchair.

Rant over, blood pressure lowered. Stay safe all.

Update from me....

I check every day on the app for slots since I've always had a weekly delivery (before the chaos started).

Slots appeared on the app yesterday evening.

Booked one for 9am this morning.

Delivery at 8.30am, quite a lot of subs but nothing major.

Told my grandma (who's elderly) and a vulnerable relative but by the time they went on to order it had all closed down again.

Grandma been on hold all day only to be directed to website.

What kinda bugged me is they've not scrapped their bag policy yet. I reckon the van could have been to another 3 houses in the time it took for me to bag all the items at the bottom of the stairs.

Also.... genuine question. If all the taxi drivers are self employed and out of work, why aren't they being commandeered by supermarkets to run deliveries back and forth? It seems like madness to still have so many people in shops. Surely everyone ordering once a week is safer for everybody?

Just my two pence. Keep refreshing the app is my advice.

AlunWynsKnee · 23/03/2020 17:05

browzingss if they are working with the NHS that's absolutely in breach of GDPR. A lot of people won't care if it gets them a shopping delivery but it could be a huge problem if people do complain.

Aintlifelikethat · 23/03/2020 17:06

I received an email saying I had been identified as a vulnerable person (I'm not so won't be using the priority slot allocation). I have attached below what they say about how they identify vulnerable people. To be fair at least they are trying.

OP, as a carer of a vulnerable person, is there a reason why you're not able to do their shopping for them?

What, you mean go out into the world, catch covid, bring it back to a vulnerable person and possibly risk their lives ?

I must admit it never occurred to me.

Nan and Grandad, huge list of health issues and mid 80's got their email, but have not be able to book anything on-line, or get anyone on the phone. They have however managed to get a delivery of frozen food from Wiltshire Farm Foods, who deliver to exclusively to the elderly. Thank goodness for that USP.

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 17:21

Why do they not have an email address? I’m sitting here with my blue badge and my PIP award letter. Could very easily photograph and email both over in minutes. Then they could work through the inbox processing them.

As it is, I’m ringing the number they have given me on my account to “correct” their mistake and getting nowhere at all.

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 17:24

bloody well hope not. I absolutely do not consent to my details held by the government agencies to be passed on to supermarkets confused

Yes, I agree. They should be much more transparent about what data sets they are drawing on.

RainMinusBow · 23/03/2020 17:27

@Deelish75 I didn't even get the email this morning despite an email yesterday saying I was on their list.

Deelish75 · 23/03/2020 17:31

@RainMinusBow

I didn’t get the email this morning either. I logged on this morning for a nosy and the slots were available for tomorrow. I’m presuming tomorrow morning slots will become available for Wednesday. Give it a go 8am.

RainMinusBow · 23/03/2020 17:37

@Deelish75 I'm being dense, but how do they know I'm allowed to book a slot as I'm vulnerable?

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 17:38

If you can log in you are fine. I can't, it just tells me I am not vulnerable so can't order.

Deelish75 · 23/03/2020 17:49

@RainMinusBow

The email and Sainsbury’s website states they’ve been working with the government. I don’t know for sure but I think they’ve given the NHS all the names and addresses of every customer registered with them and the NHS have come back with a yes or no. That’s my thinking, because whilst I am the Sainsbury’s account holder it’s another member of my household who is the vulnerable person.

SerendipityJane · 23/03/2020 17:51

how do they know I'm allowed to book a slot as I'm vulnerable?

You need to be registered as such with them. Hence the grumble about being forced to do it on a permanently engaged general purpose telephone number. (And I've already noted that not all vulnerable people might be able to use the phone, so it's a massive equality act fail for Sainsburys right there).

Assuming I get through before dying, I'll post what they needed as proof of "vulnerable". Assuming it's not just Scouts Honour.

@SerendipityJane Thank you for clarification. Perhaps I will send them a photo of my huge baby belly and hope they don't think it's just cake!!!! Grin

SerendipityJane · 23/03/2020 17:54

That's how long you have to wait to be told to go fuck yourself.

Presumably they're hoping a lot of peoples batteries will die before they can get through ?

Eve if we do get through to the 0800 number, what are we supply say to them verbally that proves our status? Are they just accepting people’s word? This is so poorly thought out.

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 17:57

Supposed to say^

Beanaballerina · 23/03/2020 18:00

I too am looking after mama papa and f-I-l, all have issues. COPD, bedridden and Parkinson’s yet I too am deemed not vulnerable enough! At no point I don’t think did I record my age with them? I have even bought Tena big pants for my f-I-l so surely that must tell them something! I am in isolation as we have been told due to their ages and conditions that we must under no circumstances venture out. I tried the phone number have even emailed mike coupe, customer services and an online shopping email only to be informed that NONE of the email boxes are manned, none of the emails read. So they do t read the emails or answer their phones. At least (apparently) Asda read emails and answer the phone according to a pal! Good luck SJ! X

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 18:01

Exactly.

I have just emailed [email protected] with photos of proof attached. It can’t possibly be less efficient than ringing the blooming phone number.

SerendipityJane · 23/03/2020 18:02

No idea. I'll post if/when I know.

I guess it's possible through an NI number to link to DWP records - although the level of data mashup that would involve drives a coach and horses through GDPR. Although it's arguable that (a) this is one of the exceptions provided for in GDPR and/or (b) the legislation being passed right now provides for such data sharing.

But the level of communication can't even be called pisspoor. That would be too kind.

Well I have just popped over to Sainsbury's to get the 'must be Sainsbury's' food and it was fairly well stocked. No need to have any further deliveries from them, so that is me out of it for a while.

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 18:07

Oh well. I’ve ordered a Morrison’s box in the meanwhile. Has everyone seen that thread? It’s a random box of provisions but it’s a stopgap.

I’m not vulnerable, but was hoping to book a slot for my elderly (over 70) parents. No idea how to do this as can’t get through on phone and no idea how I’d verify this? They live 100 miles away from me.....
