No BBC special this afternoon - is there a press briefing?

Just that really, I noticed there wasn't a BBC news special today and Boris did seem to be getting a bit bored with the whole daily press conference thing Confused

Updates on the numbers at 2pm seem to have gone by the wayside as well.

OP posts:

Boris had probably lost the will to live after seeing some of the public carrying on as if everything's normal this weekend.

Equally, the public may have lost the will to live after seeing Boris's carrying on.

Jumble567 · 23/03/2020 17:35

Has everyone else now got the ‘Sons and Daughters, love and laughter, tears and sadness and happiness....” theme tune running through their head on a loo now? Smile

LaurieFairyCake · 23/03/2020 17:35

Yes, Boris is speaking later

bullyingadvice2017 · 23/03/2020 17:35

I so hope he announces a proper lockdown at 8pm from the morning.

That's what some other countries did

Boris had probably lost the will to live after seeing some of the public carrying on as if everything's normal this weekend

Until Friday children were in school hugging and kissing each other and in very close social contact for entire days. On Sunday you are considered irresponsible if you take your child to a national trust park for a walk and they walk past some other people.

It's double standards. The government should have been clearer, firmer and quicker to act. Mixed messages get a mixed response, not everyone is watching the briefing everyday and checking the live feeds regularly.

I agree with this actually. This and the minimising that was done for the first seven weeks. If you hadn't made yourself aware, our government didn't go out of its way to make you aware. Look at the reactionary announcement on 12-week isolation of vulnerable people for instane. My dad still hasn't had any direct information. Luckily for us he listened to us last week and stopped work.

Boris to address the nation at 8.30 after the COBRA meeting

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 18:16

8.30pm seems quite late, could they have passed the bill quickly this evening?

Tartyflette · 23/03/2020 18:37

Meanwhile flights are still arriving thick and fast at Heathrow....
