Where are you seeing that FthisS? The advice here still looks the same to me?

FthisS · 23/03/2020 15:31

My mistake I was missing that part

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/03/2020 17:58

Is anybody here not confused?

Have moved the couple of days AL I’ve got and the end of the week to the start, but I feel like I need to know whether that asthma UK list is correct or not.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/03/2020 19:57

Right, I got the text. No recent hospital admissions or oral steroid courses so the decision may have been made just on medicine alone.

Asterisktheknackered · 23/03/2020 20:08

Does anyone know what's happening regarding this in Scotland!!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/03/2020 20:20

What medicines do you take daily and have you ever had a hospital admission four

FourTeaFallOut · 23/03/2020 20:26

Yes but I haven't been hospitalised for about eight years. Daily I have seretide and spiriva (tiotropium) and the obligatory ventolin.

CatkinToadflax · 23/03/2020 20:38

My text arrived about half an hour ago. I was half expecting it but am still a little taken aback! Shock I take tiotropium, duoresp spiromax, montelukast and of course good old ventolin.

Blondiney · 23/03/2020 20:45

Hospitalised once, two years ago for random attack/chest infection. Was prescribed Forstair 100 and blue inhaler. Don't use either on a regular basis and don't really consider myself an asthmatic.

I got the text this afternoon.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 23/03/2020 21:25

I havent had mine. Im on fostair 200, do the gps decide. Mine is off this week so is someone going through assigning?

myColoursareblushandbashful · 23/03/2020 21:49

@Asterisktheknackered I would like to know too. I called my GP surgery earlier and they said they had no intention of issuing letters and couldn't advise me of what to do. I have been told to call back tomorrow morning and discuss with the duty Dr to see if there is an update though

Asterisktheknackered · 23/03/2020 21:57

Hi mycolour, it's all so confusing, I'll maybe try and phone my doctor's, I'm off to work tomorrow 😭

myColoursareblushandbashful · 23/03/2020 22:08

@Asterisktheknackered it's so bloody frustrating. I'm on fostair 200/6, just recently stopped montelukast due to side effects but have been hospitalised twice in the last two years due to my asthma. I've spent numerous weeks on oral steroids & abx over the last few months.

Usually I wouldn't hesitate on self isolating however I'm an a&e nurse and we are already on our arses trying to cope. My charge nurse isn't at all sympathetic to staff isolating either. I feel so bloody hopeless with all this. Hope you get clearer answers tomorrow

Asterisktheknackered · 24/03/2020 07:11

You too, I'm nowhere near as bad as you. It just pissed me off that because your a decent human your risking yourself by going to work, we need a solid stay at home for asthmatics.

myColoursareblushandbashful · 24/03/2020 09:36

@Asterisktheknackered I've just had a phone call from my GP. I am classed as high risk and my Gp is writing a letter and posting it today outlining my condition. I've called work already and they're not happy. I've been given the next 14 days to self isolate and this will be reviewed by my charge nurse Hmm

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/03/2020 11:26

I wonder if it's based on hospital admissions.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/03/2020 11:27

Thanksmycolour

Thank you do all you're doing.

Asterisktheknackered · 24/03/2020 18:16

My colour that's good news, don't be worrying about work. They don't give a shit.

GreytExpectations · 25/03/2020 23:22

I'm so confused about the guidance. My DH has asthma and we have never considered or heard his described as Severe but his inhaler dosage is on the list! It's odd as his asthma seems very well controlled and he hardly ever has any problems with it. He didn't get a text so is just going to phone his GP tomorrow for clarification.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/03/2020 23:47

Greyt, my dosage is on the list and I usually have a problem about 1-2 times a year and I’m not on my GP’s list. So he might not get a letter.

ItsTrueISwear · 25/03/2020 23:58

@GreytExpectations
I’m in the same boat, my inhaler is on the list. I work on the tills in a supermarket so would appreciate knowing where I stand quickly.
The GP of someone on my work chat group said the NHS was contacting the most serious cases first.
The criteria seems to be the strength of your inhaler - not how well controlled your asthma is (although it has been mentioned that people who have been hospitalised may be contacted).
However, this is all supposition and hearsay, so who knows.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 26/03/2020 00:02

They keep modifying the advice on the asthma uk website. It originally said that it was a trigger if you'd had 2 or more courses of steroids in the last year.
That's now been removed.

My inhaler is a steroid combi one (seretide) and I do take the montelukast too.

Riv12345 · 26/03/2020 00:23

greytexpetations

Is your husbands dosage on the list?

My inhaler is on the list but the dosage of my inhaler is slightly lower.

I work on a busy nhs ward where suspected positive cases are being tested daily.

My anxiety is so high I actually cried at work yesterday.
I only work part time so am puttting on a brave face and getting through it but I am very anxious as I'm worried about my asthma.
Do I ring GP for advice or do I get on with it as I'm not high risk?

Riv12345 · 26/03/2020 00:25

After Saturday I've got 12 days off so I'm trying to think I can get through them then I might just isolate for a while

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/03/2020 06:05

The list has changed. No text or letter from Gp though and I checked my patient letter too.

Fostair 100/6 is included if on mart now
