I'm on preventer brown inhaler (steroid) 2 puffs twice a day, plus blue inhaler when needed.

When I get a cold etc it goes to my chest, then I need blue inhaler quite a lot.

Do you think I will get letter?
Some say if you on a steroid inhaler then you are classed as quite I risk??

Riv12345 · 22/03/2020 22:24

I also see an asthma nurse once a year, and always get contacted to have a flu jab

DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/03/2020 22:27

@Riv12345 Check your inhaler against the list on the website.

I qualify for 4 different reasons.

My seretide is listed.
I'm on montelukast.
I have had 2 courses of steroids in the last year (3 months)
And I still need my blue inhaler.

This is not news I wanted to read but understand why
And maybe now my arsehole boss will appreciate why I was pushing to be able to socially distance and work from home

SoloMummy · 22/03/2020 22:28

Anyone know about asthmatics permanently on nebulisers? I are they deemed severe?

Riv12345 · 22/03/2020 22:29

I can't see becontide on the list but it might be under a different name I think becontide is the old name I will try and google it and find out, thank you for your quick reply

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 22/03/2020 22:33

Im on fostair. Currently asthma okay but not well controlled so just upped fostair into dose that makes me at risk (but wasnt until that iyswim) . And I have had a cough for 4 days.

Weve actually self isolated as a family since Tuesday as I was so scared. And fully intended to for the 12 weeks. But what if my cough becomes "it?" Im so scared. Will ring my dr in the morning.

Borderscotch · 22/03/2020 22:35

When do you think the letters will actually be delivered?

Borderscotch · 22/03/2020 22:42

I guess by Wednesday. Just a guess though

Rocketmam · 22/03/2020 22:45

So would sereflo inhaler four puffs a day, around four courses of oral steroids a year, and blue inhaler used frequently get a letter? Not holding out much hope if it is left to the local asthma nurse. She refuses to even do asthma care plans.

Rocketmam · 22/03/2020 22:48

Ah, thank you for screen shots! Looks like it is.

But, what happens if we don't get a letter? Our gp/asthma nurse isn't great tbh.

MindyStClaire · 22/03/2020 22:50

Becotide is the brand name for clenil modulite so it will depend on the dosage.

MindyStClaire · 22/03/2020 22:51

This is the advice for anyone who does get a letter.

Riv12345 · 22/03/2020 22:54

Thank you , I take 2 puffs twice a day on the dark brown inhaler.

100mcg a puff

Borderscotch · 22/03/2020 22:54

If you think you fall into one of the categories of extremely vulnerable people listed above and you have not received a letter by Sunday 29 March 2020 or been contacted by your GP, you should discuss your concerns with your GP or hospital clinician.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 22/03/2020 22:55

Do we want to argue for the letter though. Surely it means we wont get treated when resources are scarce?

Borderscotch · 22/03/2020 22:57

22:51MindyStClaire sorry crossed post

ShastaBeast · 22/03/2020 23:01

Mine is on the list but two puffs twice a day so I’m not severe as I only take one puff twice a day.

Currently have symptoms and the salbutamol is very helpful. It’s really flared up my asthma.

tangledyarn · 22/03/2020 23:06

I'm very surprised I'm on that list, as I don't consider my asthma to be severe. However I've also been in bed for 10 days with suspected CV (no test) I'm not particularly wheezy anymore but still very breathless and have a lot of chest pain and pressure so I feel much more vulnerable than I would normally (assuming I've not got it already ) although I cant see myself being well enough to leave the house for a while anyway. So its confusing! I'll see whether I get a letter or not I guess (I suspect not) and take it from there.

Peaseblossom22 · 22/03/2020 23:08

I am on Fostair but only 100/6 and on the list it’s 200/6 . We have agreed I will try to stay home now

tangledyarn · 22/03/2020 23:12

Scrap that..am on symbicort 200/6 not 400/12...and have had 2 courses of steroids but only one for asthma. Still, I'll be as cautious as I can be.

SoloMummy · 22/03/2020 23:20

@SquashedFlyBiscuit
I'm wondering that.

Mendeleev · 22/03/2020 23:26

Yikes! I’m on that list. Fostair 200 and montelukasts. It’s going to be grim!

PutYourBackIntoit · 22/03/2020 23:31

My Ds is on 2 puffs of 200mg Clomid twice a day. He was on Montelukast for about a year but was hospitalised twice in that time and it was agreed it wasn't helping, so he's not taking it anymore. His last hospitalisation was almost 18months ago, a 2 night admission. So he's not in the catagory of severe asthma based on this description, but I think I should treat him as such?
If we don't get a letter, I'll call the GP.
