what were people doing when there werent toilet rolls in the old days?

Well - in the olden days we used Izal - medicated single sheets of paper - and as we didn't have indoor plumbing either, one of my Dad's household jobs was to empty the "honey bucket".

Brilliant, I never thought of this! I can let the cat free from the bathroom now, she's earned her keep....

I'm shocked your cat doesn't use the loo. Watch this: the cat not only goes to the loo in the loo but also flushes Shock:

And this is how you train your cat:

Good luck Smile

I've at last found what the Daily Mail is for.

People who just wash with a jug or mini shower thingie on the loo, I wonder what they use to dry their bums afterwards?

Honestly though, family cloth/reusable toilet roll. You use it you wash it. Or if you don,t like to wash cut up rags. Cotton is good wet it as you go. You use less the loo roll and it is more effective.

I was thinking of copying the Greeks and putting the paper in a bin beside the loo.
