They’re showing 14,500 new cases today but it’s not on any news I can find

Don't go off cases, go off deaths and increases in deaths.

Ignore America's stupid plugging of untested drugs. Honestly, they are so stupid.

@Justaboy - That was on a well respected journal and it seems that others are coming to the same conclusions.

I took your statement above as meaning the comment was in a journal. While the study was published in a reputable journal, the comment about the Big Pharma conspiracy wasn't. It was a comment by a poster who appears to have an agenda. Most other comments are well written and considered and mainly address the study reported. That person's post is semi-literate and doesn't address any of the issues. It is also refuted by other posters.

I also don't think the patient's report in the NYT proves anything. After all, plenty of people claim god cured them or homeopathy or whatever. However, I have seen reports of its potential and of it being tried. Hopefully, it will work and will be rolled out.

Wrt your third article, I'm not familiar with the outlet so can't judge how reputable the article is. However, if it is true, that is the type of behaviour that big pharma is well known for.

And lo and behold!, it does work according to the the New York times

1 person getting better does not make a sensible approach towards drug approval.

What percentage of patients improve with this drug?

What sample size are you talking?
What dose is needed?
How long for?
Is it better in certain patients?

Namechangervaver · 24/03/2020 21:30

American culture, advertising drugs to the masses. It is irresponsible and reckless to tout untested drugs like this. Absolute buffoons.

Namechangervaver · 24/03/2020 21:30

Have they not learned from their opioid crisis?Hmm

I'm in Bavaria working in adult social care and about 25% of my colkeages have been tested.

You have to have a doctor's note to be off sick here (but Ive never known anyone be denied one). Anyone who works in a social or health care setting is being tested if they have a cough or fever and a lot of people are hypochondriacs so although its anecdotal the sheer number of people I know who've been tested makes me disbelieve claims Germany (or at least Bavaria) is under testing or under reporting.

I work in a supported living setting but a resident in a care home run by my employer tested positive today but is apparently doing well - we get daily updates and have a newly created corona department who ate rather annoying and appear to be mainly motivational .

JudyCoolibar · 24/03/2020 21:51

I heard a radio discussion around three weeks ago to the effect that there were particular concerns around the US, because so many people either don't have medical insurance or don't have enough - so they won't get treatment or tests and may continue going to work when infectious because they can't afford to lose insurance that goes with their jobs. It looks like that may have been correct. And it really doesn't help having an idiot for a President, either.

I think America is about to be become the new epicenter of this virus.

I think America is about to be become the new epicenter of this virus.

Yes. I saw some reports that this is likely.

Justaboy · 24/03/2020 22:40

chomalungma The other trial that was done in France and is here its attached as a PDF which for some mobile devices I don't think its that easy to open. Its only just been published.

Two drugs were in that test the one Mr Pres is on about is one of them the other is an antibotic. It was a small scale test but the results were very impressive. I think the WHO are to do some of their own now.

@Justaboy you need to just stop with the links.
Yes trials are ongoing, but the general public should not be involved and should not be encouraged to self medicate.

Justaboy · 25/03/2020 00:07

Namechangervaver All that and more is in the public domain. I didn't put it there. Most all of those sites and links are to medical ones that are involved in this problem. There're not tabliod newspapers the the like. Do you think the public should not be referred to them?

Other threads on this some other sites have very similar references.

Yes sadly some people have overdosed themselves but i wonder where they got what should be prescription medications?.
