JanewaysBun · 22/03/2020 17:27

Where are you OP?

BMW6 · 22/03/2020 17:30

No family, friends or neighbours who would get some shopping for you?
No church nearby?
Or there have been loads of groups set up on Facebook to help people in your situation.

Finfintytint · 22/03/2020 17:31

Look at your community Facebook groups. Plenty of people offering to run errands re food, prescriptions etc.

CappyCapCap · 22/03/2020 17:33

Nope you dont.

Call local churches and community centres. Or food banks for advice. Get in facebook and look at local groups and put a post up.

Most areas have people willing to help people in your situation.

If you really dont know another adult, try all of the above before even thinking about going out.

Marieo · 22/03/2020 17:34

Get onto a local Facebook group, people and local businesses are falling over themselves here to help others out.

iVampire · 22/03/2020 17:36

Call every voluntary organisation in your area, plus and neighbourhood groups online and ask if they can help or know someone who might

You simply must not go out when symptomatic

If you’re prepared to say where you are, there might be MNetters who know of organisations in your area who can help

Canklesforankles · 22/03/2020 17:36

You must self isolate if you are ill. And your family.
Please look at local fb and ask who is helping.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/03/2020 17:36

I am sure there will be a local facebook community group. Or ask friends, they can leave the food at the door.

amymel2016 · 22/03/2020 17:37

Get on a local Facebook group, ask a neighbour, ask a friend, call local shops or even the supermarket to see if they can deliver. Can you afford a take a way to be delivered tonight? Where are you?

DentalPatient · 22/03/2020 17:37

Today’s press conference has announced a food parcel schemes to help those in your position. Won’t be available starlight away but hopefully soon.

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 22/03/2020 17:38

What if people haven't got Facebook/internet access or phone/credit?

Lots of people don't. Especially older people.

Houseyhousey · 22/03/2020 17:39

As you have access to the internet and enough know-how to use a chat forum, I can guarantee you can find a local set-up, church, charity, someone on mumsnet, put an ad on freecycle or shpok or just put a big note on your door asking for help but for fucks sake when will people listen - if you have any symptoms DO NOT GO OUTSIDE.

Beesisabuzzin · 22/03/2020 17:39

Every area has Facebook groups offering help. Have a look at your local MPs page as our local MP has set up a community support group - I'm sure others have to. You absolutely must isolate.

PersonaNonGarter · 22/03/2020 17:40

Please don’t go out op.

AhoyMrBeaver · 22/03/2020 17:43

Somebody will help you out, guaranteed. Facebook is full of offers of help, look at your nearest community group and don't be embarrassed to ask (it couldn't feel worse than knowingly socialising with symptoms).

Bouledeneige · 22/03/2020 17:50

Look into whether there is a local Facebook Covid 19 Mutual Aid Group in your area - there are lots set up and they can help you get food and supplies.

Bouledeneige · 22/03/2020 17:52

The government have just said the hubs they are setting up for the shielding population will be open to vulnerable people who need food and other vital supplies.

Frlrlrubert · 22/03/2020 17:52

If you're in a diliveroo area they often do supermarkets as well as takeaways.

Riv · 22/03/2020 18:01

Can you give us a vague clue as to your area (broad part of the country, eg North East, Lakes, Welsh borders.....) then maybe one of us can find a selection of links to possible help that might be local to you?

DontCallMeShitley · 22/03/2020 18:02

We have groups on Facebook, a WattsApp Hub, leaflets through the door offering help and people on Nextdoor offering help so far. Someone from the hub rang the bell this afternoon to check we were OK.

Join some groups, someone will help.

Darbs76 · 22/03/2020 18:03

You absolutely need to reach out via social media. I’ve had 2 notes through my door and community groups reaching out. Please don’t go out

diddl · 22/03/2020 18:08

Can't help thinking that it's going to be having to go to the supermarket that will literally be the death of some of usSad

HappyHammy · 22/03/2020 18:10

Have you had any luck with local support groups

sleepismysuperpower1 · 22/03/2020 18:18

please don't go out op. where are you? maybe someone will link a support group near you?

Escapetab · 22/03/2020 18:20

When you say "bits" how crucial are they? We are stuck in isolation without key stuff we would usually use to make meals so food is going to be a bit weird for a while. Just hoping my son will eat it tbh, he's only 4. We're not going to go out, but already have had a leaflet though the door for a local help group so that was reassuring.

You could hurt someone OP. Try everything else first. Note in your door or window if you're at ground level, in your corridor or lobby if you're in a flat?
