Casino218 · 22/03/2020 03:07

The other thread looked like it ended I know folks wanted a second thread.

I think I'm now day 13

Chest still heavy. Cough disappeared. I'm hoping it's on it's way now

I am coughing, feels like bad flu, painful chest. I am so scared that I am going to die. I have underlying issues.

clairethewitch70 · 22/03/2020 03:17

Day 18 now. Still getting bouts of breathlessness and random sore throats. An ulcer has just appeared in my mouth. I either have a brilliant night sleep or absolutely none at all. Chest still sore

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 03:47

@alloutoffucks what day are you on now? You are writing away on Mumsnet so your not dying. Your fine. Just keep checking in.

@clairethewitch70 yes I've read about ulcers being a late symptom- weird. A GP described her symptoms and she had them.

Just read the last thread, I have the lung burning feeling, sore throat and had diarrhoea a few days ago. Put it down to tiredness and feeling run down, young baby etc. Didn’t think it likely to be CV due to no cough or fever but sounds like I might be wrong.

It is a shame the testing over here is basically non existent.

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 03:54

My DH had no cough but he definitely has virus as do I. Lung tightness, burning etc he has all that now but didn't at first.

OP posts:
alloutoffucks · 22/03/2020 04:00

@Casino218 I know I am not dying. I don't know how long. Headache first started a week ago. Cough started yesterday. Thought I was getting better yesterday morning, but have since been feeling much worse.

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 04:07

@alloutoffucks sorry you said you were scared you were going to die that's why I said that. So you are 7 days in from first symptom. It seems to go through different stages but ring into 111 if your having difficulty breathing.

My symptoms started with a frog in my throat which was thurs 12th, maybe the day before.

Got home from work on the fri and suddenly felt like I had a fever. Took temp, 38.1. I didn't take anything at the time because I wanted to be aware of any spikes and I didn't feel too bad. Didn't isolate from family as it was paddy's day the following week and kids off school until weds anyway (school decided to close on thurs and fri too). I'm in NI.

Since then, my temp hasn't gone below 37.5. I no longer feel it even. But same thermometer reading 36.5 ish for kids, who had both been coughing/sneezing for weeks.

Other than persistent temp I have a bit of an achey back, mild diahorrea, and the heavy chest feeling. Haven't wore a bra since that Friday and can't see myself doing for a while.

I have been wfh and found myself getting a bit breathless on the phone. Fine at the start of a sentence but then having to take a deep breath at the end.

That wasn't as bad yesterday. Now wide awake since 3am.

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/03/2020 04:27

Thanks for the new thread. I’m day 7. My cough had largely gone. But felt so crap yesterday. The lung tightness and acidity from my stomach, which did get better is back. Just been nebulising to stop me from getting bronchitis, sinusitis or worse.

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 04:27

@NeverTalksToStrangers sounds like my DH s symptoms. Definitely sounds like this CV virus. My DD(14) has a blocked nose and slightly achy!

OP posts:
NeverTalksToStrangers · 22/03/2020 04:35

Yes, I'm 99% sure i have it. Dh has no symptoms. Ds1 11 complaining of sore head and sore back today. Normal temp though. He has definitely been coughing more than his brother.

puguin86 · 22/03/2020 04:42

Hi. Can I join. I've been feeling achey since Thursday. Friday temp on 40 and cough. Yesterday 111 prescribed ABx and Steroids as I am asthmatic. Both kids coughing but no temp. Not being tested so don't know if it is or not. DH has no symptoms or sympathy !! Woke up coughing just not and it hurts to breathe so keep taking my inhaler. Does this sound like CV? Anyone know how long the symptoms last for?

HanaHeya · 22/03/2020 04:45

Thanks for new thread

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 04:50

@puguin86 yes that sounds like it and it's all we have to go on without testing at the moment.

I'm about day 13 now and cough better but saying that I've just had another coughing fit. Yesterday didn't cough at all. Chest still tight. I think somewhere I read by about day 16 people starting to feel better. That was a science article where they traced covid cases in Germany.

PostNotInHaste · 22/03/2020 05:09

I’m joining if that’s ok. If I have it then day 13 for me. Started with chest feeling funny and a bit wheezy plus upset stomach 7 days after DS was ill with nasty cough and general feeling unwell, which was 9 days after Italy ski trip were back in school.

Thank goodness I didn’t go to voluntary work that day as would probably wood have given to someone vulnerable. Started coughing but wasn’t hugely aware of it at the time , woke up Middle of night once with huge coughing fit and one morning was very sweaty but thought that was peri menopause. Had undo bra one day as felt tight and had day where I felt really tired.

4 days later started random headaches and then cough started properly with a couple of temperature spikes but only up to 37.7. Also random slightly sore throat and burning sensation in mouth. Mild tight band around rib cage at times and very tired with very occasional back pain. Sleep shot to pieces. Symptoms come and go.

DH has something similar. Another member of house hold 20 years younger has had very bad cough and temperature spikes.

DH has T1 diabetes. Although in area which hasn’t had much so far I’m assuming that as had Northern Italy ski trip plus a couple of teachers in infected areas that it is very likely. DS was in the same room as someone who had got back from Venice and was in for 2 days before isolating but didn’t show symptoms. Have read about numbers who are asymptomatic though.

SinglePringle · 22/03/2020 05:16

Can I tentatively join? Who knows if I’ve got CV but my symptoms started a week ago:

Extreme fatigue
Sore throat
Ear and headache
All over aches
Chills and shivers
And then about 4 days in, a awareness of my chest. A tightness and low level burning sensation. Like I’ve smoked 20 fags. And slight breathless.

But no temperature or cough. So...??

I’m on the mend - less exhausted, no headache and chills less frequent but still got the ‘smokers chest’ feeling.

I’d love to know if I have or haven’t got it. For the immunity.

SinglePringle · 22/03/2020 05:17

To add - I’ve not left the house since last Saturday and wouldn’t have been able to. The fatigue was unbelievable. I’ve also had an upset stomach.

VashtaNerada · 22/03/2020 05:17

Day 11 for me. Had a mild cough for a few days and then suddenly the dizziness and exhaustion hit me. Had one night when I was absolutely freezing and couldn’t warm up but no temperature at all. Now I’m just very tired and can’t make it through the day without a nap. Chest pain and breathlessness off & on, particularly if I try to do housework or anything. I’m meant to be back at work next week, not sure that’s going to happen now Sad

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 05:24

Just going to post this article as I found it useful when read it.

I’ve been poorly for a couple of days.No temp, but cough, sore throat and chest. Now I have a pain in the top of my back radiating round to the front. Whether it’s a strain from coughing I don’t know. I feel worse at night but regular doses of paracetamol mean I’m not too bad in the day. My husband has had the cough for days and in fact I can hear him coughing upstairs now.

My cough is a bit productive and that combined with the no temp has made me think it’s a standard viral illness , what do you reckon?

For info , 49 , no underlying health conditions other than an under active thyroid, very fit and healthy (5 x gym per week) and normal BMI.

Amimissingsomethinghere · 22/03/2020 05:36

I'm on day 9. Temp consistently 37.6 ish and terrible headache, sore eyes and night sweats. No cough.

I have a small toddler and I'm not sure how long I can cope like this my head feels like it may explode and my eyes are so sore. I'm also worried as temp won't go down.

Is it normal to go on this long? Sorry I just need some reassurance I know I'm not in the danger category at all.

Thanks

Casino218 · 22/03/2020 05:38

@Tempnamelady no assume it is CV. This is a very infectious virus. You have some key symptoms. Self isolate. Read article. Many people are reporting no temp. Many report temp but no cough.

OP posts:
Casino218 · 22/03/2020 05:41

@Amimissingsomethinghere it's normal with this virus. Keep taking paracetamol. Your temp will eventually go down. You sound reasonably young if you have a toddler you are not in danger category no. It's just uncomfortable that's all.

Very useful thread. I’d love to hear more from any asthmatics that have it. I have been given some steroids, antibiotics and nebuliser vials on top of ventolin by my GP (he knows me very well, and that I’m isolating in a remote location).

I need to be confident which is the best point of the illness to use my meds. They almost always help me stave off pneumonia (secondary infections) but usually I can get professional guidance on the order of things. I’m determined to get through it, but don’t want to waste the meds by taking them at the wrong time.

All the best to everyone who is ill. Posting is a real help, even though it must be hard and scary. Thanks.

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/03/2020 05:44

Yes agreed. Needs to be shared more as that was the most useful article I’ve found on the whole thing tbh. I’ve been doubting whether or not this is the coronavirus. Much has been made that people with it don’t sneeze. But if they sneeze, they shed (contradiction right there).

This person sneezed. I’m sneezing. Just not often. Dh ditto. I am weak, ill with coughing, some phlegm now, lack of smell but don’t have a fever. Much has been made of having a fever but the infected in this article dont.
