They need to ration it for those of us who don’t stockpile and can’t go out as have a member of family who is vulnerable. They absolutely need to limit number of shops and amount spent imo. Ideally cross referencing with other retailers!

madcatladyforever · 17/03/2020 12:32

I tried buying a thermometer off Amazon this morning and it's a long wait, a lot of the products are coming from China and quoting April deliveries.

minipie · 17/03/2020 12:32

It goes quicker than it says. Just don’t let the page shut....!

Greysparkles · 17/03/2020 12:46

I'm trying to order for a client. He's an 81 year old man with numerous health issues. It's just unacceptable. Why are people behaving so selfishly. #Bekind has literally gone out the window

Why do you think people are behaving selfishly? Most people do not do online shopping. If you have been told to self isolate that means that suddenly there are a lot more trying to shop online.

userxx · 17/03/2020 12:55

Jesus, I thought you were talking about ASOS and the like!

Can you not go to the shops op?

SallySun123 · 17/03/2020 12:57

Our local independent shops (butchers, green grocers etc) on a small high street are clubbing together to offer next day deliveries. Worth phoning local shops to see if they’re going to do this. Good luck.

Greysparkles · 17/03/2020 12:58

Thank you sally that's a good idea

My partner said the best time to do online shop is 3am Confused
Probably not ideal for most but anxiety had been keeping him up

PickleSarnie · 17/03/2020 13:08

It goes much quicker than it says it will. Then once you’re on, you’re on so you’ve got plenty time to edit basket etc.

Definitely do it on a computer though and not your phone if you’re not already doing that. It stays open better on a computer browser

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 13:08

I am going to shop at 24 hour ASDA at midnight tonight and using self checkouts.

Frangipanini · 17/03/2020 13:16

I still can't forgive Ocado for throwing women under a bus so won't be using them.

Bakedbrie · 17/03/2020 13:18

Ocado does not represent the totality of online shopping! Please amend your inflammatory thread title! 🙄

BiarritzCrackers · 17/03/2020 13:18

This really annoyed me in the press conference yesterday - the PM said that if people are isolating, then to shop online. These problems were already evident over the weekend! I think he supplements it by saying (and I paraphrase here), "if you can't get a slot, head out to the shops, and good luck you you all!"

KatherineJaneway · 17/03/2020 13:18

It does go far quicker then it says, give it time.

Best to go on very early or very late.

Nearlyalmost50 · 17/03/2020 13:20

Why do you assume it is selfish people? My mum is online shopping for the first time today. There might be a million extra online shoppers this week.

tillytoodles1 · 17/03/2020 13:22

alloy toffucks check Asda opening times before you go, our local 24hr one is closing at midnight to restock and won't be open until 7 am tomorrow.

VivaLeBeaver · 17/03/2020 13:23

@alloutoffucks the 24 hour Asda and tesco near me are no longer 24 hours from today. They will shut overnight to allow for shelf stocking.

adaline · 17/03/2020 13:24

One of the main problems is if you're self-isolating, online shopping is your only choice. So demand is much higher than it would be normally.

DH and I don't normally shop online but we're self-isolating and so have booked online shopping so we get fed! The next available slot is March 29th. Thankfully we have enough food in to last us until then.

adaline · 17/03/2020 13:25

@alloutoffucks they may not be open. Our local shop is no longer 24hrs.

AuntieStella · 17/03/2020 13:27

They need to find a way to prioritise the vulnerable (the shielded group who will be even further restricted from thus weekend)

Ilikecurrybest · 17/03/2020 13:27

I shopped with Ocado this morning. I was 1821 in the queue but it was actually very quick to get into.

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 13:28

Oh thanks! I thought I would go at a really quiet time as when I looked yesterday the car park was rammed.

EvilPea · 17/03/2020 13:29

Can the milkman’s milk and more website help?

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 13:29

And yes you are right, no longer 24-hour.
