It is really bad. I'm currently at home as I have symptoms and work in vicinity of a confirmed case. Now rest of family have had to join me. No delivery slots with any supermarkets available to me for at least 3 weeks. All slots booked. I've managed to get a click and collect for next week by which point I should be able to collect but DH and DS will still be on self isolation.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 17/03/2020 13:57

Flamin 'eck, I thought online shopping had been banned then Grin
In the words of Chandler Bing, can these threads BE any more panic mongering?! lol

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 17/03/2020 13:58

Looks like a cross post with MNHQ, they've done a little tweak to it since I posted Grin

Dagnabit · 17/03/2020 13:59

Doesn’t matter if you manage to book an online shop anyway because by the time it gets delivered, most of the stuff won’t be available!

Percypopper · 17/03/2020 14:00

#bekind was about Caroline Flack’s suicide and cyber abuse she and others have received Hmm

Secondly why is everyone else selfish? Everyone needs to buy food don’t they?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/03/2020 14:01

Nice one, @MNHQ! I'm in the Ocado virtual queue. It's quite mesmerising watching my position in the queue go down every time it refreshes. 602 now and should be on in a few minutes. It was just under 4000 when I clicked on the website about 15-20 minutes ago. They told me it would be an hour but I didn't believe them, glad I'm a cynic!

byebyebeautiful · 17/03/2020 14:02

Wtf is ocado?

Lovemusic33 · 17/03/2020 14:02

I have had no issues booking with Tesco, I always book 2 slots ahead and now I’m booking as far ahead as I can (3/4 weeks) so I have a slot each week for the rest of the months and first week of April.

Went to Waitrose earlier to get a few bits and lots of shelves were empty , no toilet roll, no pasta and hardly any bacon.

LovePoppy · 17/03/2020 14:03

@WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo how should retailers decide who is vulnerable?

A young normally healthy person self isolating can’t get to a store either.

Butterfingers64 · 17/03/2020 14:04

Well I logged on at 7am to amend my order due tomorrow - have until 10.25 tonight to change it. I have been no 380 in a queue of 11000 since then (with five minutes to wait allegedly!). I am resigned to not being able to get in by 10.25 so my grocery delivery will consist of a placeholder whole beef fillet and nothing else!

BIWI · 17/03/2020 14:04

Try the Co-op - I checked last night, and if I'd placed an order they would have delivered on Thursday.

Nettleskeins · 17/03/2020 14:06

Abel and cole, milk.and more. Have general groceries as well as fruit veg and dairy. Milk and more deliver 3 days a week in our london street. Abel.and cole has designated days for each.area is.v busy but they took my phone order this am so not impossible to reach

Sparklingplasters · 17/03/2020 14:07

I did Morrison’s earlier, first availability is 27th March, much needed for an elderly person

Nettleskeins · 17/03/2020 14:09

Abel and cole.had a limit on bread too. 4 ,loaves max per week.

Lucindainthesky · 17/03/2020 14:12

I've been told by somebody in NHS that online delivery will soon be prioritised for households with somebody in the at risk category. Also expect rationing.

ArriettyJones · 17/03/2020 14:12

They need to clamp down on online ordering and.make it available to those who actually need it such as your client.

How the feck is a retail grocer suppose to do that? As a a sector, grocers cannot even enforce disabled parking rules in their physical stores.

How on earth do you imagine Ocado is going to set up a way to prioritise disabled, ill and elderly customers overnight?

I sympathise. Members of my household have disabilities and chronic illnesses, but everyone really needs to get a grip and stop with the histrionic demands.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 17/03/2020 14:12

If anyone is in Bristol, I did a GoodSixty shop and had it delivered next day! All local independent shops and delivered on a bike. Brilliant.

RishiSunakFanClub · 17/03/2020 14:13

From experience I've found Ocado to be unreliable so never use them. I have had no problem ordering deliveries from my normal supermarkets - Tesco and Waitrose - the only change has been having to book further in advance than usual.

DustyMaiden · 17/03/2020 14:15

I have an order coming from Sainsbury’s but if there is nothing in the store I won’t get anything.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/03/2020 14:18

I've found Ocado extremely reliable and as we don't have a car they've been very useful to us. 20 years ago I walked to Tesco and got a cab back. So glad I don't have to go near a big supermarket in present conditions. I've amended my next order and placed another one for the next slot I could get which is nearly two weeks off. We'll cope. Fortunately our local shops still have food and none of us are ill yet. Fingers crossed.

Anotherwillbealong · 17/03/2020 14:19

Iceland, Lidl, Home Bargains amongst others have set up special shopping hours for the elderly here in N.I.
Hopefully other stores will follow suit.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/03/2020 14:21

The world has gone mad. I saw a post from a friend that I thought was a sensible human being, She was declaring she was taking her child out of school because she'd been to sainsburys and they didn't have any of their usual snacks/lunch items so what were they supposed to eat...child is a teenager with no special needs and honestly could use to miss a snack or two.

LaCherriesJubilee · 17/03/2020 14:21

Why do you think people are behaving selfishly? Because people do behave selfishly. For every person who is doing their regular shop, and every person who is shopping for an elderly neighbour there will be several trying to buy up the entire supply of fabric conditioner or bleach or chocolate biscuits or whatever they don't yet have 100 of. And some not even for themselves, but so that if we run dry of everything they can start selling a bag of past for a tenner.

Tanith · 17/03/2020 14:22

Hellonheels

I cannot believe that Frangipanini is claiming Ocado threw women under the bus.
All they did was to check out a tweet they received from a Trans Rights Activist about a particular company they did business with, who had removed the original Woman: Noun poster after a "transphobia" complaint from Adrian Harrop.
That company then lied to Ocado and backed up the transphobic claims, so Ocado supported the company and said they'd continue to do business with them.

That is all.

When it blew up, women started to boycott Ocado and gave their reasons. Ocado realised they'd been lied to, so they rang their customers personally to apologise and sent out apologies by email, saying the tweet should never have been sent and they should never have been involved.

However, some people think they should also have tweeted a public apology and are continuing to boycott them until they do so.

Straycatstrut · 17/03/2020 14:24

I made an order last Saturday with Tesco - closest delivery slot was a week away, so this Saturday. There's an even longer wait now.

I've no car but I've asked to go food shopping tomorrow with my parents (finally got paid) so if I can everything there I'll cancel my slot. Need some craft and a stack of activities for the DC too. Supermarket staff must be flipping knackered!

Just trying to work out if my boys go to their dads 100 miles away this weekend or not. No symptoms from either and they'll be going by car literally from one house to another so I can't a problem currently.
