I'm in an online virtual queue to order with ocado. I'm currently 16339 of 17655

Fuck.

If you log on to Ocado v early in the morning, the queue is much faster.

FlamingoAndJohn · 17/03/2020 13:30

You need to try in the very early hours.
I added to mine at 3am when I got up for a wee. I got through instantly. I then added to it at 6am and it only took 10 minutes to get through.

Trying in the daytime is just not going to happen.

HellonHeels · 17/03/2020 13:31

@Frangipanini what happened with Ocado and women?

TheStuffedPenguin · 17/03/2020 13:31

Ocado isn't the only grocery provider Confused

Fere · 17/03/2020 13:32

I had to wait yesterday in that queue - if you are registered you will be able to get your shopping at a normal speed after you logged in

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 13:34

Yeah, #bekind is no more. It's fine to #bekind to men who want to be women, but not to #bekind to the most vulnerable people in society. Just shows you what some people are really like. Which does not surprise me one bit!

Myshitisreal · 17/03/2020 13:35

Gosh that's awful. Tesco did email out a few days ago and advise customers to book slots now so I think that's made them all dissappear

Luc1nda · 17/03/2020 13:36

It's baffling that people ascribe poor motives to others' behaviour.

I read an interesting column about the empty shelves. The author was saying it's not so much the result of selfish shopping as much as what happens when everyone is told to shop for a fortnight.

SpokeTooSoon · 17/03/2020 13:37

I tried buying a thermometer off Amazon this morning and it's a long wait, a lot of the products are coming from China

Oh the irony.

SoupDragon · 17/03/2020 13:37

What on earth does "be kind" have to do with this?

AvonBarksdale99 · 17/03/2020 13:40

I thought #bekind was about not abusing people on social media? Not don’t ever try and order some food online in case it means others can’t...

Electrical · 17/03/2020 13:40

You title needs to be changed, ffs.

SoupDragon · 17/03/2020 13:41

Ocado isn't the only grocery provider

It's also not the only grocery provider having problems with meeting demand.

Sotiredofthislife · 17/03/2020 13:42

I am going to shop at 24 hour ASDA at midnight tonight and using self checkouts

The 24 hour ASDA close to me is no longer 24hrs. They are closing in the evening and re-opening in the mornings.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 13:44

Misleading thread title. Unless you live in a world where Ocado is the centre of your universe.

H1978 · 17/03/2020 13:45

I don’t drive so always online shop because dh works odd hours so can’t always take me. I shop for the week having planned my meals and almost never shop during the week last night it took me 2 hours to do a Morrison shop because the site kept crashing and the app wouldn’t even load. I have also booked for another two weeks in advance because it’s only going to get worst getting slots

TheStuffedPenguin · 17/03/2020 13:45

Just booked a slot with Tesco.

chocolateisavegetable · 17/03/2020 13:47

Not had any problems booking slots with Tesco, other than you need to book further in advance than usual obviously

Femail · 17/03/2020 13:48

Asa are closing some of the 24/7 stores down to limited hours now

StrongTea · 17/03/2020 13:48

Ordered some meals from a wee scottish company called Parsleybox. Ready meals delivered next day by dhl. These are for elderly relatives, meals can be kept in cupboard don’t need fridge or freezer. Might be an option for some folk.

caperberries · 17/03/2020 13:50

I'm not sure why people assume online shopping is so much safer, given the virus survives on surfaces for days & the goods in your order will have been handled by numerous unknown people before you receive them?

ChrisPrattsFace · 17/03/2020 13:54

We’re self isolating, have just tried to book our usual deliver or click and collect but the next available delivery is 31st. I’ll have completely ran out of everything by then, including baby formula etc.
So no, online shoppers aren’t selfish to whoever said that. Some of us use it regularly for our normal shop and to be honest - regretting to buying all the fricking pasta now!

butterpuffed · 17/03/2020 13:54

Your title is absolutely awful, OP , it implies that there's no online shopping at all. Why frighten everyone like that ? We may have to wait ~ all the supermarkets are saying that if everyone stopped panic buying it would be okay.

I'm 69, yes I'm old and also old enough to know that the majority coped in the war ~ I wasn't around then but they DID. We need to stop being selfish and just looking out only for ourselves .

RoseAndRose · 17/03/2020 13:55

That risk, caperberries, is the same whether online or not.

Not travelling to the shop and not spending time in it when other people are present, not touching more things (trolleys etc) all help shield people

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 17/03/2020 13:55

They need to clamp down on online ordering and.make it available to those who actually need it such as your client.
