Should I cancel mother's day plans

I had planned to take my mum out for an afternoon tea for mother's day. She is 51 so not elderly or vulnerable. I feel bad cancelling as I had booked into a local tea room and they will probably lose a lot of business but in light of today's announcement would you cancel?

We are booked to go out for lunch on Mother's Day at a local independent restaurant. As it stands, I'm not going to cancel.

The government advice is to limit all social contact. That means no pubs / bars / restaurants or, I would imagine tea rooms. It will be tough for your local tea room. I fear some small businesses may go under. But we need to follow the advice if we want to avoid being under armed guard like Italy.

You absolutely have to cancel. You could currently have CV but be asymptomatic (sp). Going out to public places is the exact way the disease spreads.

Perhaps you could buy a gift voucher so the tea shop has money coming in now (when they need it) - so just postpones the event.

"avoid unnecessary social interaction" is the gov advice. I'm sorry but we ALL have to adhere to this, to protect the NHS and the vulnerable. We are ALL being inconvenienced but this is about protecting the vulnerable.

Yes we were due to go to afternoon tea on saturday and have just cancelled. My mum is 60, but even if she was younger I would still cancel following the latest guidance.
