Anyone not got much of a cough but feels really tight and painful when breathing in?

Just asking out of interest more than anything else.
I'm self isolating anyway because two of the DC are so unwell.

I have had this since Thursday. I have got a cough but not one I'd consider persistent (2-3 coughing episodes a day).

But the chest pain and tightness is not very pleasant.

No fever.

Anyone the same?

(DC 13 had the classic symptoms, so either had flu or corona - they wouldn't test).

I do.

My chest is tight and 'heavy'? I've had this for 6/7 days now and it isn't getting any better.

No cough and no fever though? I'm tired but I have a baby so that's nothing new and no idea if it is a symptom too.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 16/03/2020 10:43

I'm tired and have a baby too.
Mine isn't going either but only seems to be getting mildly worse.

It's making me nervous, is it going to whoop my arse or just go away? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I felt like this about two weeks ago as well as a splitting headache and being absolutely exhausted & freezing, it carried on until about Wednesday when I got a really sore throat and then on Saturday it turned into flu-ey symptoms and finally a cough. No fever but no matter how ill I am I never get a temperature.

No idea what I have had but I am staying in this week just in case!

Terralee · 16/03/2020 10:50

Are you sure it's corona OP? Maybe phone the GP. Just in case because chest tightness & difficulty breathing can indicate other things such as blood clots, or less scarily routine chest infections etc

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 16/03/2020 10:51

That is exactly how it went for 2 of my kids.
Identical, started with a headache, fever, cough, sore throat, ended.

So either there's something going round and it's a red herring or every man and his dog is getting corona.

Where abouts do you live, out if interest?

I was sent home this morning. I had a sore throat yesterday, progressed to a sore throat and new cough today. Not major or chesty but regular. I don't have a sore head or temperature.

I've felt a bit run down of late but I've put that down to drinking too much wine and eating too much junk off the back of the wine and not sticking to any healthy diet.

Now I've been told to self isolate for 7 days. I've been very mindful lately of not touching things, face touching, washing hands etc etc so feel bad for my colleagues as I didn't feel unwell enough to go home but I guess they have to be super cautious.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 16/03/2020 10:52

@Terralee no I'm not sure it's corona at all. Who knows? 🤷🏼‍♀️

But I'm not worried about blood clots just yet.
DH has the same symptoms as me, whatever it is.

I had that for a few days. I am hoping it was corona and that I won't get it again!

WhoWants2Know · 16/03/2020 11:04

I'm dizzy, exhausted and have a sore throat. No idea what to do!

neverenoughwipes · 16/03/2020 11:09

I have this too, I've been wondering if it's CV or not too Confused

FinTutuola · 16/03/2020 11:16

I’m in the North West - Bury

TwelveIslands · 16/03/2020 11:28

I had difficulty breathing and the feeling of having a large cat sat on my chest. Thankfully they've passed and Im just incredibly tired now.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 16/03/2020 11:31

When did it start for you? Mine has been 5 days so far.

I have this too @dontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou.

I started feeling ill last Wed, came on fast, exhausted, heavy limbs. That all increased to painful joints, headache, tight, heavy chest, no cough really but a need to 'clear my throat' a lot. Chills but no fever

I have been like that since Wednesday, self isolating obviously, felt a bit better on Saturday but worse again yesterday, especially my chest.

Today I got up and felt quite a bit better. I still have a bit of a dry cough and mild sore throat, chest still feels wrong.

I should add I am 37, healthy and run a lot so I know I am pretty fit and low risk if it is Corona but it probably isn't. I have never felt this feeling in my chest though ever. Very different to a chest infection, sort of like a tight burning sensation in both lungs. No typical cold symptoms. This is day 6 for me and I am feeling a tad better today.

longshot · 16/03/2020 11:39

PS my DD had something similar on Thurs / Friday (she's 7) but much milder symptoms (aches, dry cough). So far rest of my family are OK as I have kept away.

longshot · 16/03/2020 11:40

We are also in the North West

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 16/03/2020 11:41

When my anxiety gets really high (like it did last week) then I get a lot of pain and tightness around my chest.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 16/03/2020 11:45

I definitely don't have anxiety.

I used to suffer with that years ago. Bloody horrible.

This is different. Plus anxiety never gave me a cough or my kids horrible flu-like illnesses.

Whoever said kids get off lightly is wrong, because what my kids got was brutal.

I'm in the Northwest and have had this for about six days. Tightness in the chest, bit of laboured breathing when walking the dog (I'm pretty fit so that's unusual), and a dry irritating cough. No change from day to day, just the same thing. No temperature.

I went to a spa in Burnley a few days before it came on. And my brother visited me from thailand at the same time. I'm social distancing and working from home but have no idea if this is CV or just something doing the rounds.

Standrewsschool · 16/03/2020 11:54

My dh is like that. Exhaustion, wants to sleep a lot, no fever (although taking Lemsips regularly), and panting on exertion. We wondered whether it was a chest infection. Managed to speak to gp, who advised to ring 111. Gave up after 1 1/2 hours.

WhoWants2Know · 16/03/2020 11:55

The burning sensation in the lungs is exactly what I'm feeling.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/03/2020 11:58

For the past few days I’ve felt like you do when a drink goes down the wrong way. After you’ve had a big coughing fit to clear it, sometimes your chest feels a bit irritated like you didn’t clear it fully?

I was ill in Feb half term though so I think mine is just all the bloody cleaning sprays I’ve been using!!

SupermarketFlowerss · 16/03/2020 11:59

Me. No fever just hurts to breath in and top off my back really aching. Also feel really tired

KingaRoo · 16/03/2020 12:04

I've had similar. Sore throat and slightly sneezy last week, turned to weird feeling at the very top of my chest. Just like a PP said, having a cat sit on the very top of my sternum. No fever and no cough so according to guidelines I don't need to isolate? Otherwise feel fine, maybe a bit achey but I think that is due to a gym session on Saturday Smile

yatapina · 16/03/2020 12:05

I've had this since Saturday.

I put it down to anxiety but I've never had it before so I've no idea!

I don't have a persistent cough but I do have a dry throat, heart rate is slightly elevated and I can't catch a deep breath - when I try it sounds like I'm gasping for air if that makes sense.

My daughter has been at home since Friday with a persistent cough but I've been cleared for work unless I am showing the known symptoms despite working with very vulnerable people 🤔
