Anyone not got much of a cough but feels really tight and painful when breathing in?

Just asking out of interest more than anything else.
I'm self isolating anyway because two of the DC are so unwell.

I have had this since Thursday. I have got a cough but not one I'd consider persistent (2-3 coughing episodes a day).

But the chest pain and tightness is not very pleasant.

No fever.

Anyone the same?

(DC 13 had the classic symptoms, so either had flu or corona - they wouldn't test).

I hope you dont mind me joining here, I just wanted to add my own symptoms.
I got a very severe pain in my chest, tight feeling and kind of burning. I was worried it was heart issue, but the next day I had a very slight sore throat and day after I started coughing and feverish, no sneezing no runny nose though was bit stuffy. For a few days I thought must have chest infection, this sunday I thought I might have walking pneumonia as I've had constant chest pains- then monday morning the pain just vanished. I've still got a cough ,feel really tired but getting much better it lasted 2 weeks.

I wish I could have a test and know but I've never had a chest pain like it either.

FlopsRevenge · 17/03/2020 18:32

I've got the same symptoms as described on this thread. Pain in upper chest, feeling of not being able to breathe deeply, and on off body chills and muscle aches. Been like it since Friday.

Has anyone with these symptoms been tested and had Corona virus confimed?

It's the not knowing that I'm finding most frustrating... Although obviously I'm treating it like it definitely is it, so strictly self isolating.

Babyroobs · 17/03/2020 18:35

Yes chest pains, no cough , no fever, feel a bit achy and have shooting pains in my head.

IndecentFeminist · 17/03/2020 18:42

I had similar about a month ago. Start r as an incredibly sore throat, could barely swallow, got antibiotics for a throat infection. As soon as those meds finished i started coughing, and ended up with a hideous cough, tight painful chest, temperature, achy/twitchy limbs etc. more antibiotics for a chest infection, even when I finished those I wasn't totally better, still have a lingering cough and noisy chest now.

It is very unlikely it was CV, as there aren't many cases near us and I don't know any travellers etc, but it just goes to show that without testing we'll never know the extent of it.

Albatross123 · 18/03/2020 13:01

I have had a tight feeling around my chest for a few weeks - I can only describe it as a bit like wearing a bra that is too tight. I also had an intermittent (not constant) mild dry cough and mild breathing problems. These symptoms have lingered on and off since half term and I have good and bad days. Also a general feeling of being unwell and feint. I probably had a fever at times but didn't check it with a thermometer. I saw a GP a while ago who gave me some antibiotics for a kidney infection but wasn't concerned by the other symptoms. Seems unlikely it is CV but unless they test I will never know.

elephantoverthehill · 18/03/2020 13:19

The symptoms described on here are exactly how I feel; tight heavy chest, headache, chills, sore eyes and really tired. I threw in the towel at work today and will self isolate.

SugarSugarShimmy · 18/03/2020 14:44

When I got the chest pain I texted my mum and said ‘do you think I’m having a heart attack’! It wasn’t dreadful but a heavy pain. I did not have a bad cough.

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou mild temp seems to be common with CV. Many people saying temp goes up and down but not very high. Highest mine got was 38.1. Official line is 37.8 or over is temperature in this instance

tempestterra · 18/03/2020 14:56

Thank you for posting OP. How are you feeling now? It's crazy they're not testing isn't it? Because non of us will know if we've got it, but about two hours ago I stared feeling light headed, and now feel as if my chest is in a vice like clamp. Like a bra being pulled really tightly. Burning sensation too, and headache from hell, but that could be lack of caffeine! Can't say I like the feeling that my internal organs are trying to bust through my rib cage!
Hope every one is doing okay.

StormBaby · 18/03/2020 15:01

We have had multiple threads of people saying exactly this, so surely it must be corona? I've had the sore throat, heavy tight chest unlike anything I have ever felt before, minor coughing, diarrhoea.

Minai · 18/03/2020 15:03

I have this too and have heard of so many others with the same. I did think maybe stress but I have anxiety and it never affects me this way. I have mild asthma but again, that doesn’t usually flare up unless I’m unwell usually and I feel fine in myself apart from tight chest, heavy feeling at the top of my chest and a slight sore throat. Very strange. No cough or fever so I havent isolated but keeping an eye on it.

IpeartreeI · 18/03/2020 15:20

Yes, me and dh had viral symptoms around a week ago and dh had a high temperature then started with a cough. Ds2 already ill with it. My arms and legs were painful around 10 days ago and that's gradually improved, but I feel weak and like I'm walking through treacle. I have an irritating cough and like something is pressing down on my chest.

I hope dh is going to be okay as he's worse than me. Ds2 is on the mend.

Ellapaella · 18/03/2020 22:12

My sister has all of these symptoms. Especially the tight chest and feeling as though her lungs are burning and something sitting on her chest. She's on about day 14 of symptoms now and hasn't has a temperature since around day 3 although she is still getting chills and aching muscles.
I'm worrying about her because she's in London and I'm 250 miles away - she has asthma.

FlopsRevenge · 19/03/2020 06:40

Just to add, I'm at around day 6 and had fever last night and nausea this morning. Still achy with a tight chest.

Standrewsschool · 19/03/2020 08:00

I haven’t got a cough or tight chest. I do keep feeling nausea plus though, and five days in, still have a raised temperature. Fed up of it all now.

tempestterra · 19/03/2020 19:22

How's everybody doing?
I'm on day two. And I'm sure it's CV as still feel like I have a tight band round my chest and low grade fever now, which comes and goes.
op how you getting on?
Take care everyone

UtterTwaddle · 19/03/2020 19:41

I’ve had this for 7 days and the doctor diagnosed costochondritis today.

Homkaismycat · 20/03/2020 07:29

I’m just getting chills on and off.
I had a tight chest feeling for few days since Sunday on and off.
Husband said it’s panic..

claret3189 · 09/06/2020 12:59

Hi did anyone find out what it was

Jrobhatch29 · 09/06/2020 16:01

I had these symptoms about 6-7 weeks ago. I had two days and nights of horrendous palpitations that scared me. I would have gone to hospital in normal times. Also had a sore throat. No real cough. The palpitations went and then i got pains in my chest. Felt like my bra was too tight crossed with heartburn. At the time I put it all down to being pregnant but it all stopped after a week or so and never had it since. Who knows?

amylou8 · 09/06/2020 16:16

I have had exactly this for a week now. Tight burning feeling in the top of my chest. A thickly throat that I feel I need to clear. No temperature. Feeling a bit tired and lethargic, but not properly ill. The chest pain was bad enough that i needed to take pain killers over the weekend, but seemes a bit better today. Maybe it's a non CV bug that's been doing the rounds. Anyone with these symptoms had a test?

Tootsey11 · 09/06/2020 19:31

I would guess that you all have CV. I have had tight heavy chest, burning lungs, shortness of breath, headaches, diarrhea, chills, really tired, sleeping around the clock, strange taste in mouth but no cough and no high temperature. Not tested but 2 Gp's and a covid nurse diagnosed me as no testing was available.

My symptoms have lasted 13 weeks and I now am just starting to feel normal since March. Each one of you is classic CV.

amylou8 · 09/06/2020 20:40

Most of us don't have symptoms that qualify for a test, so will probably never know. I feel almost completely better 7 days in (hope I haven't spoken too soon there 😂) so I'm thinking it probably wasn't.
