For fuck sake. My whole ocado shop for today has been cancelled. Generally speaking it's tricky for us to get to the shops but by some rare stroke of luck my partner had to bring the car home this weekend (usually kept at his parents many miles away). Thankfully we'll be able to drive to the shops but what about those who can't? People in self isolation or those who have to rely on online shops for other reasons? Slots aren't available until next week, midweek at the earliest!

I've been telling myself to stay calm, only buy what we need, don't add to the problem of shops being out of stock. But now I'm panicking it's really hard to stick to that. I'm now not sure if I'll be able to hold back from panic buying now. We have barely any food in the house and usually we only get enough to last us a week but I think I'll have to stock up on two weeks worth now. We might end up not even being able to get anything today due to shelves being bare.

@viccat try Amazon (just regular Amazon, not Prime Now or Pantry) for cat food and litter. I almost always get mine from there; it's generally cheaper than the shops.

I had my usual order from Ocado this morning. All there, nothing missing, no subs. The driver did tell me though that a couple of drivers had walked out this morning and refused to take their deliveries as they had run out of hand gel and Ocado didn't have any to give them...

LaCherriesJubilee · 16/03/2020 16:25

It’s a massive failure on Ocado’s part.

Well they're in the same situation as everyone else. Human pickers, human drivers, some of whom are probably self isolating because of the amount of people they come into contact with. They have enough vans and storage space for their usual service presumably, and now have thousands of expectant new customers, as well as regular customers having bigger shops than usual. What are they supposed to do?

Scruffyoak · 16/03/2020 16:30

All these people saying weeks ago...' we can still get online deliverys'...yeah glad I didn't believe that.

LaCherriesJubilee · 16/03/2020 16:33

Hmm. And I bet at least a few of their disappointed customers have a recently acquired 5 year supply of the stuff...

DameXanaduBramble · 16/03/2020 17:10

Ocado is automated picking. No humans.

Parahebe · 16/03/2020 17:49

Update on this afternoon's Ocado order for those who asked.
It was due 4.30-5.30 and it arrived on time. Nothing missing, all fine.

From what I read, I think the technical problems only affected this morning's orders, so orders should be back on track now.

noidea02 · 16/03/2020 17:55

My order was for this afternoon....

TheGreatWave · 16/03/2020 19:00

Just taken delivery of my shopping, a bit early and all present and correct.

No signing for it and just passed at the door. Driver in good spirits, I was last drop and he was going back to the depot, though shift doesn't end till midnight.

Had to pop into Sainsbury's on the way home from work (DD needs new school trousers) and it was half empty, though staff were busy filling up shelves. I did go to customer services to say thank you to everyone, I think they need it.

Parahebe · 16/03/2020 20:45

I agree, I thanked my Ocado driver profusely. They must be under a lot of pressure and some gratitude goes a long way.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 16/03/2020 21:03

My order arrived: a few (sensible) substitutions, but I hadn't ordered any loo roll, baked beans or hand sanitiser! Delivery guy clearly up against it - he was bit late and expecting to work for a good stretch still. He wasn't allowed to accept a biscuit but thanked us for the offer :-)

AuntieStella · 16/03/2020 21:41

"From what I read, I think the technical problems only affected this morning's orders"

My cancelled order was for this afternoon

I'm probably going to start seeking slots with another provider (even if I have to wait bit before I can secure any). That doubles the number of slots I take up, but it also increases the chances of at least some of my shopping getting through

Onceuponatimethen · 16/03/2020 22:25

Mine also cancelled, also for the afternoon and also south east

Ontheboardwalk · 16/03/2020 22:31

My greater Manchester order turned up within the hour slot

Delivery guy looked stressed but said people were really glad to see him cos he had toilet roll

He knocked on before unpacking and told me the new rules. Not collecting any bags, we can’t touch and he will put the bags inside the house. Only when he’s backed up should I collect them.

Standrewsschool · 16/03/2020 23:04

Just went on to amend my ocado order. It said I was position 1396 out of 1396 people (although now dropped to 1254) with a wait time of 30 minutes.

catindahat · 16/03/2020 23:09

My Sainsbury's order cancelled too. No stock in their warehouse. So they refund and the delivery fee as well.

TheStuffedPenguin · 17/03/2020 00:06

Tesco order turned up this afternoon . All good .

Nanasueathome · 17/03/2020 05:32

My Ocado order today is due between 9.30 and 10.30 and I’ve just had the confirmation email
No subs and only missing item is Panadol which I ordered as no paracetamol available. Not an issue at all

ScrumptiousBears · 17/03/2020 05:46

Computer systems at Ocado failed yesterday which is probably the reason for failed deliveries. Not sure if it effected the whole of the uk but definitely caused problems at their depot in Hertfordshire.

OtherVoicesOtherRooms · 17/03/2020 06:27

Pissed off that I’m fighting for slots with Johnny come lately all of a sudden & will be emailing them to say so.

Wow.
You really don't see the bigger picture from your selfish little world do you?

I've just done a rare on line shop for a 76 year who can't leave the house because of illness. They usually shop daily and don't clog up the online delivery service on a regular basis.

Maybe they took YOUR slot. I f'ing hope so!

duckduckgoosealbatross · 17/03/2020 07:32

@LaCherriesJubilee

"The driver did tell me though that a couple of drivers had walked out this morning and refused to take their deliveries as they had run out of hand gel and Ocado didn't have any to give them..."

My NHS team also ran out of hand gel a few weeks ago. Those stockpiling fuckwits have got a lot to answer for Angry

peachypetite · 17/03/2020 07:35

Can we give drivers a tip?

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 07:50

Always give them a tip 🤗

SquirrelInTheOak · 17/03/2020 09:39

My 9-10am Ocado delivery has just arrived. I was worried yesterday as I'm currently on my own, DH working overseas, I'm rural and unable to drive at the moment.
Driver put bags on the doorstep and then took several steps back as I opened the door. I stood back from the door too. Understably, won't take bags for recycling.
Driver said he didn't know what the problem was yesterday but agreed that it wouldn't have helped people's sense of panic.

So anyway, I just unpacked the delivery and then, after holding up quite well and remaining positive so far, burst into tears.
I'm very scared.

Nanasueathome · 17/03/2020 09:45

My 9.30 to 10.30 Ocado order just arrived

wondering7777 · 17/03/2020 10:01

"You are position 4940 of 4946. Your wait time will be about two hours."

Just went onto the Ocado website and this is what it's saying. Utter madness.

I guess I won't be adding that extra box of teabags to my order after all!
