He obviously doesn't. No fever, no cold and flu symptoms not even a sore throat. If he has it, then we all must given what he's presenting:

-a little tired

  • General malaise
  • Bit out of sorts
  • minor chest pain (its one of the muscles between his ribs but i don't think he believes his gp on this)

He's already a hyperchondriac but this is really pissing me off. He's checking his temperature multiple times a day and won't stop reading the bloody news.

SEND HELP.

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/03/2020 08:04

DH had the shits earlier in the week and thought that might be CV as a few have had this, unfortunately I was very sick a couple of days later so it was decided it was either food poisoning or norovirus type thing. DH has had the thermometer in his mouth almost permanently for the last week and keeps updating me on his temperature.

MollyButton · 14/03/2020 08:04

I would sign post him to the government advice.
Basically he need to self isolate which means: stick to one room, not sharing your bedroom, using one bathroom or using the family bathroom after everyone else and disinfecting it thoroughly afterwards. Meals can be left outside his door, but he is to have no contact with anyone else in the household except by phone for at least 7 days. (Oh and double bag his rubbish.)

Can only direct you to this latest important advice OP....

CuteOrangeElephant · 14/03/2020 08:11

My DH has a genuine cough and sore throat.

I hate him when he's "ill". The theatricality, the dressing gown of doom Angry.

On the other hand when he had a disease that almost killed him he was brave.

Based on yesterday's show I think it is just a cold, but he's selfisolating so I am stuck with him for the time being...

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/03/2020 08:11

Apparently divorce rates are up in China after the lockdown.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 14/03/2020 08:13

Paint is a brilliant idea! I’ve been meaning to get the study done for ages!

Zaphodsotherhead · 14/03/2020 08:19

Never mind the Dressing Gown of Doom, most of these blokes sound like they need the Pillow Of Face...

put them out of their (and your misery) save them suffering any more...

coffeeneeded · 14/03/2020 08:23

Mine has rallied now. Done the research and taken his temp. He's now being a self diagnosed hero.

I don't know what's worse

PurpleCrazyHorse · 14/03/2020 08:25

I would convince him the children have symptoms, they then have to self isolate together and I would therefore head for a spa weekend break Grin

AnyOldSpartabix · 14/03/2020 08:31

Adding my voice to those who feel he should isolate himself in a room away from everyone else. He’s putting you all at risk.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 14/03/2020 08:34

Lock him in the box room with some tissues, cuppa soups, paracetamol and a bucket. Seal the door shut tell him self isolation advice been increased to 2 months.

Find some box sets, wine and chocolates. Browse internet on how to hide a body. As the advert says being curious isn’t a crime.

I feel your pain. My fella is a hypochondriac and honestly it’s draining me. I understand being careful etc but my god he’s obsessed, unhealthily obsessed and it’s so tiring Confused constantly watching the news and reading news articles written by god knows who on the internet and listening to other people and going on about how if he gets it he’s 100% GOING TO DIE Hmm honestly I have almost lost the plot a handful of times because I can’t take it anymore!

labazsisgoingmad · 14/03/2020 08:59

unplug the wi fi so he doesnt get updates or get googling his symptons

Oh I'm so glad to have found this thread. DH arrived home last night just as I was wrangling the toddler into bed while simultaneously feeding my newborn and announced in tones of impending apocalypse that he has a sore throat.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 14/03/2020 09:05

I've been dry coughing since I got home from working yesterday. No fever though.

I work for a GP surgery.

Alice02132354 · 14/03/2020 09:06

lol, I can confirm. He definitely has it. 100%. If there was ever a clear cut case this is it.

Put him in the garage with a blanket and a tin of beans and tell him he must stay there for 3 weeks. Let's see how ill he feels

ScarlettBlaize · 14/03/2020 09:21

@PhilCornwall1
decided to do "temperature roulette" for a giggle and it was well up over 37deg. Ooops!! hmm

You are joking, aren't you? That's a normal temperature.

picklemewalnuts · 14/03/2020 09:31

DS2 has a bug- we isolated him in case, but it turned out to be Noro (probably).

DH has been saying he's caught it too for the best part of a week now. I've pointed out he has no symptoms- no temperature, eating normally, no cough or sniffle, no naps...

He still thinks he has it. 🙄

poorbuthappy · 14/03/2020 09:42

Dd2 was sent home from school yesterday with a temp of 37.4.
Yes she has a cough.....and snot and sneezing. She has a head cold.
I actually laughed down the phone when they rang.

Tanith · 14/03/2020 09:54

I’m afraid I gave short shrift.

Very matter of fact and breezily: “Oh, that’s a shame. I’ll just look up how much longer you have on this Earth...”

A moment on Google...

“Ah! Could be as little as 7 days. Can you make sure your life insurance is up to date and I can easily find your last will and testimony? Thanks!”

It appears to have worked Smile

PhilCornwall1 · 14/03/2020 10:02

@ScarlettBlaize well the thermometer put me in the "Amber Zone", cooo errr!!

My post was tongue in cheek, I don't have it, yep I have a cough and the thermometer had a funny five minutes. I don't think for 1 second that I have it and life goes on as normal.

I live every day of my life with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and live on a tonne of drugs and carry on as normal, so no, I'm not a hypochondriac in any way at all. We'll be off out later for our Saturday afternoon pint and wine thats for sure.

TheDogsMother · 14/03/2020 10:09

Sounds horrendous OP. Buy him a job lot of Pot Noodles then self isolate yourself in a Boutique Hotel and Spa
