Until yesterday I was mildly concerned about the virus, but I couldn't sleep last night and have been preoccupied all day. I feel like if I talk to actual people about my concerns for my family and society as a whole, it will make it real. Feels a bit like a dream.

How are you feeling today?

Yes, I'm worried, I'm 40 but I have "old lungs", a consequence of all the scarring caused from difficult to control asthma and chest infections. I'm concerned about getting this illness at a time when the NHS is overwhelmed and not having access to otherwise easily available care and treatments. I'm worried about getting pneumonia and seeing another permanent drop in my lung function and what that will being mean for how I live my life. Hysterical.

6/10

But for economic reasons mainly , and the
More I think about the economy and my job and others jobs the more it increases

The illness itself not so much

I have gone from thinking my elderly mother and MIL are at risk to worrying about myself. I am healthy but have high blood pressure and take an ACE inhibitor. DH has type 2 diabetes so we may snuff it partly because of the drugs we take.

My employer, the civil service, is not allowing people to work from home despite the fact that I and many of my colleagues are set up to do so. I feel like I am expendable and risking death commuting to work across London each day.

How selfish I feel , in addition to the economy and additional major concern is the people like your son . I can’t even imagine your concern . Had to say that and given stress levels , I advise you look after yourself as the media isn’t helping FlowersFlowers

I wish you and him well

Very. I posted this on another thread:

I’m a secondary school teacher and my anxiety is sky high at the moment. I’m worried about not being well for my children, making my children ill, making my husband ill.

I’m tired too of hearing ‘the teachers...’. I am not a role, I am a person and I deserve to be protected too.

@motherrunner I feel exactly the same! I'm a nurse and it's just expected that we will look after patients that have the virus or are suspected to have it. I'm terrified, I've got asthma, my son has asthma. Just don't know what to do Confused

motherrunner · 14/03/2020 15:25

@Handmaid2019 We truly are ‘public servants’ at the moment, feel we are bottom of the pile in terms of heath importance.

Hope you are able to stay safe for you and your son.

The last time I felt this guy wrenchingly anxious was when DS was in Neonatal. And he's 12 in August.
I'm literally feeling sick with fear.
DS has lung conditions and DP was diagnosed with emphysema last year.

I keep trying to keep calm and hope the scientists are right and every other country is wrong but I keep thinking of the reports from Italy that they were forced to stop treating anyone with underlying health issues in favour of those with none and that would put two of the people I love most in the world at risk of that happens.

I hate being in a country where profit is so much more important. And if the cases have gone up that much overnight again and they are only testing those needing hospital treatment, God know show many others have it and are ill at home or assuming as the country isn't doing much to take it seriously that it's fine to go out regardless.

I fully believe they're not testing as they should because they can then keep our figures relatively low compared to other countries.

I literally am so scared. It's horrific.

Thank you @motherrunner. I really hope that you can stay safe for you and your family too.
