@HasaDigaEebowai Thanks for this

HotPenguin · 12/03/2020 12:33

Those worried about being fined for taking children out of school, you could report them as sick. You may only need to do this for a week as advice may change by then.

VivaLeBeaver · 12/03/2020 12:33

I suspect though someone is sat in the cobra meeting messaging a journalist friend and this is how it's leaking out.

crispycracker · 12/03/2020 12:33

That's it. Going to keep 2 x dc at home from monday. There will be a big argument with dp but enough is enough.

They're not allowed phones or electronic devices of any kind in Cobra and so its more likely to be someone purely speculating..

Wetcappuccino · 12/03/2020 12:37

@ofwarren Well now that puts an entirely different spin on things! Maybe they will rethink the herd immunity approach Grin

Reports of concerns (unproven) about possible effects on male fertility have been circulating for a while.

My prediction is that working from home for those who can will be suggested but that schools will stay open. The government seem mostly reactive rather than proactive unfortunately

Grin yep

Random I know but.... Jewellery such as wedding/engagement rings... They could have contamination on. So do I wash/sanitize with them on? Or take hem off and wash and then sanitize the jewellery separately?

Oakmaiden · 12/03/2020 12:40

Doctors claim new coronavirus 'may cause damage to a man's TESTICLES'

Well, that will get them worrying a bit more.

Sunshinegirl82 · 12/03/2020 12:40

@jespers

The only reason I wouldn't go is if I was in a high risk group.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 12/03/2020 12:42

I would stop wearing jewellery and watches.

Also, shorter sleeves.

Think bare bellow elbow, when possible.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 12:43

some woman on Sky News has said that buying loo roll is a form of pyschological comfort.

No, honey, I've got loo roll stocks in because I don't want to shit on my hands and clap!

cjt110 · 12/03/2020 12:43

@ChardonnaysPetDragon That makes sense re jewellery. I often wear long sleeve but subconsciously, always roll my sleeves up.

Saucery · 12/03/2020 12:43

cjt110 I’ve put all my rings away apart from my wedding ring. I make sure I soap / sanitise under and around it.
Unfortunately all my other rings are quite intricate and fancy with curves and loops and hard to reach bits so they are in the jewellery box for now.

WouldShouldCould · 12/03/2020 12:44

I've removed my wedding ring and watch.

cjt110 · 12/03/2020 12:44

@yoloPenguinsEatfish Grin

I read somewhere apparently we bulk buy loo roll because it's a large item and we are drawn to large items in a panic situation.

Saucery · 12/03/2020 12:45

There are loads and loads of boxes of tissue left in the supermarkets I go to. Same material, same function, customers getting upset about the lack of toilet roll but they aren’t going for the next best thing.

Sunshinegirl82 · 12/03/2020 12:46

It is not clear that locking everything down will solve the issue of the virus in the long term. What if it turns out that it actually makes things worse?

Long term it's entirely possibly that the virus will simply re-emerge once everything opens am up again.

The UK plan as I understand it is to slowly increase the measures we take to eek out the number of cases over a longer period of time allowing the NHS to cope. They absolutely do not want a peak next Winter as that really would be difficult for the NHS to deal with.

cjt110 · 12/03/2020 12:46

I'm glad my Q re jewellery wasn't just my daft musings... Thanks all.

Yes my rings are stoney and fiddly so apart from submerging in hand sanitizer i couldnt guarantee getting them clean

Hellsbells123098 · 12/03/2020 12:46

News speculating schools now staying open and English football taking place as normal.

I’ll be shocked if Boris goes against the grain but we wait to find out the update

KinderWild · 12/03/2020 12:47

I found out I have high blood pressure on Monday. Having blood tests and doing a weeks monitoring of blood pressure, but it's definitely still high. I am trying to take sollace that it's better to know and take action rather than be blissfully unaware. But it is very hard not to be worried.
