Can we do a lighthearted thread?

I am as worried and terrified as the next person but wondered if a lighthearted thread would help to ease the stress?

On a lighter note, we have no chocolate or crisps at home, hoping to rectify this in the next few days Grin but how does one refrain from eating the apocalypse supplies?! Grin

I fear I've ruined my chances of getting more loo roll after discovering a stocked place yesterday.

Because I rang dr surgery to ask about whether in current climate they were still doing elective testing (had smear letter) as due to working 8n school I wanted to see if I could book for Easter hols.

Have to say she was lovely. We were chatting. Booked in and I said we should confirm my details are up to date and system set up for emails and texts should it need to be cancelled. Then conversation went on to loo roll and I retold her where I'd managed to get a 9 pack from the day before (as it's round corner from surgery).

We had a giggle about not telling joe public or we might find we've shot ourselves in the foot!

The stress on nhs staff atm must be horrendous.

@Ricekrispie22I am saving The Mirror and the Light for just that purpose

The Mirror as loo roll????

SecretWitch · 11/03/2020 19:06

I know mrsmary she sound so anxious in voice until I made it clear I wasn't even sure if that sort of standard appointment would still exist in current climes.and laughed even harder when I said maybe nurses would be glad to swab another body part for a change right now Blush

Squigean · 11/03/2020 19:15

If I get isolated I'm going to do a calculation that shows when 'prepping' becomes 'panic buying'.

I'm not sure if it'll be a sliding time scale or if there's an cut off time. But I'll get back to you.

crazydiamond222 · 11/03/2020 19:16

'On a lighter note, we have no chocolate or crisps at home, hoping to rectify this in the next few days grin but how does one refrain from eating the apocalypse supplies?!'

You do what my husband has done and bulk buy tinned peas and tinned potatoes. Things will need to get seriously dire before I contemplate going anywhere near these!

PIPinghell · 11/03/2020 19:16

MrsMaryBOOface how could you say such a thing! To READ. For God's sake, to READ. Some people!

Sparklingbrook · 11/03/2020 19:17

Prepping isn't panic buying. You just leisurely panic buy over a period of time. Grin

PIPinghell · 11/03/2020 19:17

Although if it was just The Mirror, then you could be on to something...

MrsMaryBOOface · 11/03/2020 19:19

I might get some Fray Bentos pies and Vesta curries. I feel that the 2 weeks will be some sort of 70s food festival with all the tins.

MrsMaryBOOface · 11/03/2020 19:23

Thanks @Squigean Wine

I've worked from home 2 days this week, I've now been told to stay home until my cough goes (that I've had for the last 5 weeks).
On that note, my backup cupboard has already been seriously depleted of biscuits and crisps and I will need to stock up again Blush

MrsMaryBOOface · 11/03/2020 19:24

@PIPinghell :slowly places the Mirror back on the floor: Oh sorry...

MrsMaryBOOface · 11/03/2020 19:24

I read alcohol kills the virus - so I'm self isolating at home with the gin!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/03/2020 19:25

My annoying as fuck colleague has now cancelled his trip abroad, and subsequently, his leave from work, so I don't get that glorious week of peace and quiet I was hoping for.

PIPinghell · 11/03/2020 19:26

MrsMaryBOOface I have needle and thread if you need some stitches in your botty after using the mirror for loo paper...
